How to COMPLETELY UNINSTALL Zoom? Posted: 22 May 2020 04:33 PM PDT I'm done with college for now. I heard zoom spies you and use your hardware without your consent. Since it's not installed the way most internet apps are, I want to know how to uninstall it without any trace of if. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]

Any Mac app to remove running apps from the dock? Posted: 23 May 2020 02:19 AM PDT Surfshark app has a menu bar icon but still shows in the dock. I get annoyed by this every time, as I like to have it only in the menu bar and I like my dock as empty as possible. Any way around this? [link] [comments]
Is it possible to just copy and paste the entire contents of my laptop onto an external HDD Posted: 23 May 2020 02:10 AM PDT Hello! I want to make a backup of my mac so I can revert it back to Mojave as Catalina is making my 2019 Macbook Air run very hot. Is it possible to just copy and paste the contents of the 256gb ssd onto an 1tb external hard drive? I only ask as I already have data on the external drive, and most backup programs seem to make you wipe the external drive first.. [link] [comments]
How to change default copy/paste to "Paste without formatting" on word 15.13.3 (or everwhere) Posted: 22 May 2020 09:41 PM PDT Hello! Posted: 22 May 2020 05:46 PM PDT Hello everyone, I am experiencing a weird issue on my MacOS Calendar app. For some reason, when using my iCloud account the app shows birthdays for people the day of their birthday and the day after it. I have tried removing the accounts and readding them, I made sure all the birthdays are correct. I am only experiencing this issue on Mac not on iOS or iPadOS. Thanks [link] [comments]
Safari 13.1 lost New Tab Favorites Posted: 22 May 2020 02:59 PM PDT SOLVED - - apparently I'm an idiot and all you have to do is right click on the blank area and enable it. So I was using Safari and all of a sudden I lost the favorites that appear when you open a new tab. I didn't change any settings or anything. The favorites are still there in bookmarks just not when I open new tabs. https://i.imgur.com/rzQwkoe.jpg I also noticed the favorites are gone from the address bar. [link] [comments]
File sharing has started dropping out Posted: 22 May 2020 07:16 PM PDT Apple TV can't find iTunes library and Sonos can't connect. Both are connected by ethernet. It has come back on, once while I was working on it, but goes out again. Just started yesterday. Is something maybe screwy with the router? I've power-cycled it, which is when I saw the sharing come back on (though it didn't for several minutes). I haven't reset it yet. [link] [comments]

Unable to enable Spotlight indexing on Mac Pro 5,1 running Mojave Posted: 22 May 2020 05:09 PM PDT I'm stuck trying to enable Spotlight indexing. I first noticed that Mail was not finding E-mails and then that Spotlight was not finding Applications, then just discovered that Spotlight search and indexing was disabled for / Trying to enable indexing on / returns this: I really have no clue where to look. The Startup volume is not in the Privacy tab of the Spotlight preference pane and the Spotlight daemon is loaded fine, I checked all that. Also tried adding the startup volume to the Privacy tab and removing it, no success. I also tried deleting the Spotlight-V100* folder in root then repead the mdutil commands. It's not being re-created ever since and indexing and search is still off. Any idea?? I'm really stuck here. Best way to backup before Catalina upgrade? Posted: 22 May 2020 11:58 AM PDT Want to give Catalina a go but definitely have a Mojave back up in case I encounter any issues. What's the best way of doing this? I assume you can't roll back an OS just through time machine? [link] [comments]
Question about using a window in full screen Posted: 22 May 2020 03:40 PM PDT I'm fairly new to using a Mac. So far, I like the option of making my windows full screen and using the three-finger gesture to swap between them. It makes it really easy to work in Xcode, hit an issue, then swipe over to a browser and figure it out. While I'm pretty good about using shortcuts, some actions require me to move the mouse to the top of the window (for example, while CMD+T opens a new tab, I occasionally reach for the 'New Tab' button. When I do that, the bar for the window and the OS quickly come down at the same time, covering the option I need to click. Is there a way to slow down how long it takes for the OS/Window bars to reappear when the pointer hits the top of the screen? [link] [comments]
OneDrive keeps syncing, eats CPU cycles like crazy Posted: 22 May 2020 11:43 AM PDT I'm running macOS Mojave (latest) and my OneDrive app just keeps syncing and uses almost all of my CPU cycles. I reset the app with the provided script but to no avail. Anybody experiences/has experienced the same/similar issue(s)? [link] [comments]

Couldn’t modify partition map. : (-69874) Posted: 22 May 2020 12:47 PM PDT hi all, i'm trying to recover data for a friend that has a 2012 MBP 13" with an assumably-dead hard drive. it is a 1TB Seagate SSHD that was installed ~4-5 years ago. the mac does not boot, even with a new hard drive cable+bracket (so that is out of the question), and i'm unable to get the drive to mount while in a known-good USB enclosure on my own mac. i was able to boot my friend's MBP into Internet Recovery, where the drive IS detected in Disk Utility, but can't do anything with it. running First Aid produces the error in the title. any thoughts on this? or is this the end, and my friend's best bet at this point is to send the drive out to an actual data recovery professional? lol. Add Currency Symbols to "Additional Characters" Posted: 22 May 2020 12:42 PM PDT It would be super useful to have common currency symbols linked to the press and hold functionality on macOS in the same way it is on iOS. Press and hold $ could give you ₱ ₩ ¥ £ € ¢. Or, localised regional versions depending on your keyboard. [link] [comments]
Contacts is super slow, full of lollipops, sometimes repeats email addresses or phone numbers! Posted: 22 May 2020 12:24 PM PDT Ask me which is the slowest, most frustrating app on my Mac — it is Contacts, hands down. Trying to update a contact can result in multiple bouts of spinning lollipops. Occasionally I'll come across a contact, sometimes even one that I had created just minutes before, where an email address or a phone number now populates multiple positions, multiple "different" addresses or numbers which are all the same. Late 2013 Mac Pro, 64 GB RAM, MacOS 10.15.4, Contacts v12.0., a total of 8,971 contacts. Reason(s)? Solutions? Commiserations? [link] [comments]

Best note taking app for STEM student on macOS Posted: 22 May 2020 11:12 AM PDT Hi there! I'm currently studying Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. I need a note-taking app, that has both support for math (ideally LaTeX input), as well as Python code. So far i've tried: - Bear (nice looking, but i dont like the markup format and no math support) - Noto (pretty good app, but some issues here and there that kinda makes me want to switch to a more "established" application) - Evernote - OneNote (No really good math support on macOs) Any recommendations?
