| Best way to COMPLETELY wipe iPhone? Posted: 17 May 2020 10:56 PM PDT Hello all, I recently got a replacement iPhone XS after my last one broke, but I have to send my old one back. I already got everything backed up and transferred to the new phone, but I want to completely wipe the old one before I send it back. I was able to factory reset it through iTunes, but i'd like to do more. Any software that I've downloaded to try and wipe the phone requires you to buy a license to actually use the feature. I only want to do this once, so I don't want to spend the money on it. Does anyone know a program that does it for free, or do I not even need to do this in the first place? [link] [comments]  |

I tried putting the tray from the regular 7 into the plus and it seemed to fit however the plus doesnt recognize a sim card after searching for one. can anyone help me with this? [link] [comments]  |
| Camera lens cover for IPhone XR is falling off Posted: 17 May 2020 06:24 PM PDT The adhesive that holds the camera lens is weak and the cover is close to falling off, so I had to use tape to keep it from falling off the phone. The picture quality is terrible, but all I know is that there is no hardware issues which is good, but should I just attempt to glue it back on or just leave it for a professional to repair? However, making video calls via Facetime and Whatsapp (either on wifi or 4G/3G), everything is fine. You can pickup sound, hear the other side and see the video. I have checked the following.... | iPhone XR stuck on spinning circle black background Posted: 17 May 2020 12:21 PM PDT After doing a hard reset, I was able to get out of it and it seems to be fine now, but I'd like to know what caused it, it's an XR on ios 13.4.1, it was fine at around 40%, after putting the charger in I left it for ~25 mins and it was stuck like that. | Is there a way to secretly disable or change my location on iMessage tracking? Posted: 17 May 2020 03:57 PM PDT My parents made me share my location with them when I first got an iPhone, and will get very very mad if I remove it for any period of time. Normally, I'm completely fine with this, but as of late, they've been using it for things like "you told me you were at X park, why are you at Y park?!" And getting unreasonably mad over these tiny things. (To clarify, I'm not doing anything shady at all, just want my parents to ease up a little.) I went to location services and set the "allow location" to never. I haven't had a chance to see if this worked, but I'm assuming it simply shows that there's not an icon when they try to track me (please correct me if I'm wrong). I'm wondering if there's a way to set my location to another area. For example, a spot 5-10 miles away from where I am? I'm trying to avoid buying another phone without tracking. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 17 May 2020 02:07 PM PDT So I've played around with the various camera and storage options on my iPhone 8. These include the Optimize iPhone Storage and Most Compatible settings. When I look at the resolution of my photos, I see they are all 3088x2320 (this is for the FaceTime camera which is reportedly 7 MP) and take about 1-1.5 MB for JPEG and roughly half that for HEIC photos. If I view the photos on my 1920x1080 monitor they start to get grainy. I don't think this is an issue with transferring the photos to my computer, because I don't have to zoom in too far on my phone before the picture is relatively blurry. Am I wrong in thinking that a photo should never start to get grainy util the photo is smaller than the screen it is being displayed on? If I am correct, what can I do (whether it is a camera setting, storage setting, or transfer setting) to get my photos to look good on a larger monitor? [link] [comments]  |

| iPhone 8 [13.1.1] : Messages defaulting to iMessage for Android SMS recipient. Posted: 17 May 2020 07:18 AM PDT Thanks in advance for anyone that can help. The recipient has a Mac with usage of the iMessage platform and an Android phone. The messages tend to default to iMessage despite the selected phone number being Android. If I have sent an iMessage to the recipient earlier in the day and then I want to send a text message, even though I select the mobile number (rather than the associated iMessage email address) it defaults to blue text in the 'To' section. Even if I go 'new message' and type in the Android phone number manually, it still defaults to blue. Copy and pasting makes no difference either. If I hard press and 'forward' the message after it defaults to iMessage, it's usually the same issue. I don't think I've seen a 'send as SMS' option pop up. If I go to the contacts and find the person, go 'message' and then 'mobile' or select their number, it will still set the 'To' text to blue/iMessage. Even if they SMS me, and I try to reply straight back, it will tend to default to whatever I had used to message THEM last, and if it's an iMessage to their Mac, it almost creates a cycle. I hope that makes sense? It's been doing this for some time, and is variable/intermittent with no pattern, despite undertaking the last few iOS update, restarting the phone, restating the messages app and turning iMessages on and off. Is anyone else struggling with this? I suppose it's probably something technical, but it can be really irritating if you're trying to contact someone with something important and they don't see the message straight away, because it will be sitting in their email inbox instead, if their Mac isn't open! Side note: I feel like I can still select numbers fine through my Mac, so I hope it's not some weird communication issue between my iPhone and Mac. I'm unable to get a paid version of an app because "This device isn't authorized to make purchases". After doing some research, I found this was due to a ScreenTime Passcode - that I DID NOT set up. I can't reset the code, remove it, or disable the restrictions!! I've tried the forgot password link... and I input my Apple ID, but it won't let me reset it. Just goes back to the login screen, and won't let me type anything in because I've entered it wrong over 12x. So I have to wait an hour between each try. Looking online, I can't find a default. In another thread in this sub a guy is bragging that his shop can turn off iOS activation lock in some other way. Is this true? Has it been hacked? I feel like this would be big news if it were true. | Use phone for 2 days or charge overnight Posted: 17 May 2020 07:32 AM PDT Hi guys Curious in your opinion which is better for overall battery health: 1) Using phone for 2 days without charging, battery gets down to 35-40%, charge night of second day 2) Charge every night, where battery only gets down to ~75% from the day. I understand that in total it comes out to the same amount of charge cycles, but we always read that it's not great to have the battery at the extremes, high or low. [link] [comments]  |
