    I did a Time Machine backup and could identify the offending folder through that. It was on Macintosh HD - Data, but wouldn't show in Finder.

    After many (many) hours of searching I discovered that if you go to Disk Utility, right-click Macintosh HD - Data and select 'open in finder', you can more easily find hidden files

    Hit cmd+shift+. (period/full-stop) to show invisible files.

    In my case it was 30+GB of leftover junk from an app – a folder called .cleverfiles (Disk Drill can shove it).

    I hope this helps anyone experiencing similar issues!

    Hello! - I ordered a set of AirPod Pros from Amazon a few weeks ago and they've got a high pitch ringing in the ear. I've used all of my different sizes for the buds with no luck - and - Apple swears it's a fit issue so they're telling me to return them to Amazon.

    My concern is the fact that they've already been paired with my iCloud / Apple account and I don't want to leak any data back when Amazon enviably resells them.

    1. What data is stored on the AirPod Pro's themselves and what do I need to do to erase it?

    2. Should I change my iCloud password after sending them back or what's the best practice in general?

    I may seem a little paranoid here but once bought a "refurbished" TV off of Woot (aka Amazon) and it arrived with the old owners Netflix account still connected to it - so - my trust in Amazon is low and Apple won't handle it directly.

    How to unlock frozen iPhone 11 Pro?

    Recently upgraded my 2019 iMac 27” 5k’s NvME and SSD, power turns on but screen panel looks like this. I had to point a flashlight to be able to see what was showing on the screen. Does anyone know where can I find the Backlight cable? Or do I need to bite the bullet and buy a new panel?

    I just purchased a 13 inch Mac Air 2020 (specs: 1.2GHz quad-core 10th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz 16GB 3733MHz LPDDR4X memory, 512GB SSD storage).

    I am wondering if i should return it and wait to purchase a Mac Air next year? Love the speed, retina display, and keyboard. My issue with this laptop is it heating and the fan noise. Will the next release of Mac Airs be better about cooling and fan noise? Sidenote-- not looking to purchase a pro because of price and portability.

    I would call myself a mostly average user (no photo editing, rare video editing on imovie). I use this laptop for work, watching movies. The only intense apps I use are zoom and this online teaching application. However I open a million tabs at once and multitask a lot. And it is NOT taking much for this laptop to get very hot and the fan to go crazy. This is really bothering me and I just dropped $1,900+ on this laptop.

    I have a Mac air early 2015 that is exactly 4 years old. It is slow, starting to show battery issues, and isn't supporting my multitasking etc. I was going to sell it/trade it in since I got the Mac air 2020 but I am now wondering whether I should just keep my old laptop and try to get another year out of it. Not sure when the next Mac air will be released and if it is worth the wait....Any and all advice appreciated!

    Deleting Messages with iMessage Forwarding

    If I delete a message on one device, and have iMessage forwarding on, with the message delete across all devices.

    Also, if I turn on forwarding today, will previous messages be forwarded?

    Got the message “Forbidden to access page” when visiting NSFW site is this a bad thing?

    So I was visiting this NSFW site and I by accident pressed something and a message came up forbidden to access page or something like that. Is this a bad thing or did I get saved by safari of a fishy site? Thanks for the help I'm really paranoid now. I was using my IPhone 7 running the latest software.

    iPhone XR locked screen doesn't light up if I tap it

    In the last few weeks I noticed that when I tap my locked phone if it's sitting on something or I'm just not holding it, the screen doesn't light up all the time. Maybe 1 out of 10 times. But when I pick it up or receive a notification, the screen lights up. Any idea what's up?

    My phone's a little over a year and half old and has the last iOS 12 update.

    Factory reset iPad without password

    I saw a 20 dollar digitizer on eBay and decided with the extra time it would be a fun project to fix an old iPad 5th gen that belonged to my brother and hasn't been used in ~2 years. I've never owned an iPad before and I didn't need one but it is the last device I need to complete the whole apple ecosystem and a new device on a 20 dollar investment doesn't seem half bad. Fast forward to today, post-repair everything appears to be working fine however, no one remembers what the password on it was and we don't know what iCloud account it is associated with. I need to reset the device to get access but the problem is, obviously I cant go in and do it from the device itself and due to the fact that I need to unlock and "trust" my Mac It's not showing up on finder either. Is there any way to reset this device that I'm not thinking of?

    So I came across this video where he used his 2009 iMac as a monitor and I want to use my 2012 iMac as a monitor using a mini displayport to displayport adapter, connected to a pc computer. I was just wondering if anyone knows if this would work, or any problems it would cause.

    Fintie Wireless keyboard issue with IPad

    I bought a Fintie wireless keyboard to use with my IPad and I'm having an issue. All the keys work except the J,K, and L keys. It is the second one that I have purchased and I am having the same problem. Any ideas on a solution?

    USB-C Slot not working.

    I have a 2019 iMac on my desk in my bedroom. It has a 1TB fusion which I've partitioned into dedicated storage as I'm running the OS on a 28gbps read/write speeds Thunderbolt3 512gb nvme external ssd. The machine also has 40gb of RAM.

    I have an old 2013 MBP that's had two hdd failures in which I had to manually replace the SATA cable. Most recently, I had to wipe it anew so it could be usable as its speed before the wipe was atrocious. Its been on my person during my commutes for the longest and it's actually really heavy and the charger is so bulky, I feel like the MBP be hurting my back.

    Do I get a new 2020 13in MBP with 16gb RAM and 256gb ssd for $1500 or a new 2020 11in 128gb iPad Pro with wifi+lte or a new 2020 12.9in 128gb iPad Pro with wife+lte? The iPad Pro I'd be getting with apple pencil 2 and new magic keyboard. I do not need a headphone jack as i use airpods pro.

    I've never owned an iPad of any kind before/never never really held one and used one. I have a 32gb iPhone 7 plus. In my hands it feels small and is comfortably usable with 1 hand. Does the 11in iPad model offer much more portability over the 12.9in model that it outweighs the pros and cons of a bigger screen? Or does the 12.9in truly offer the same portability with a better user experience?

    What can't the iPad do well/not at all that a MBP can? I'm a high school chemistry teacher that would be looking for something to create lessons and lesson plans on and labs and all the tools that accompany lab making. Which would serve me best in the classroom to pair with the Desktop in the classroom already--a MBP or iPad Pro?

    Are laptops a thing of the past and technology is trending towards tablets instead? Is there anything the MBP can do that I absolutely need during the day that can't wait till I get home to do on my iMac? If I'm out on a regular work day in the classroom, is there anything you can think of that I'd need to do exclusively on a MBP that can't be done on an iPad pro?

    Would i be better served in just continuing to recycle my current MBP? It's working fine now, though I know it's on its last legs. It can still serve as a fine, older laptop when needed. Can you stream your screen from iPads onto smart boards? I also love the idea of a tablet, if I'm not losing out on too much with the new MBPs.

    How to get swype-like keyboard to stop changing words already typed?

    I am using the latest iOS on my phone (8), and the one thing that has annoyed the hell out of me is that a phrase will he started, then suddenly after a new word is swiped in it changes something and now I have to go backspace through to correct it.

    For example, I recently typed something starting with So and by the time I got the third word in, it changed it to Do.

    Time Machine- Can I use the same hard drive I used for time machine on an old Mac for time machine on a new Mac without saving any of the previous data from the old Mac?

    I have the new MacBook Pro and I want to know if I can use the same external hard dive that I used for time machine on my old computer, with this new one? Put simply are external hard drives permanently formatted for use with time machine on only one computer or can I delete everything off of it and use it for time machine on my new Mac? Also I won't be using it to transfer data I'm going to transfer all my files manually with a different drive, I don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks guys

    Podcasts deleting randomly [iPhone 7]

    I download university lectures and import them to iTunes, converting them to podcasts to then listen on my iPhone 7.

    About half of these lectures 'disappear' or delete themselves from my phone after about 10 minutes since importing them. This is incredibly, incredibly frustrating.

    I have turned 'delete after playing' off and followed every other guidance I can find. It is most annoying because some episodes will delete but others remain.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    2014 Macbook Pro - Random Black Screen - Need help for a client.

    Hello Everyone,

    I have a client who has contacted me about her 2014 MacBook Pro. It has the dreaded black screen of death issue, but has been unable to fix it.

    So far she has done the following:

    • Taken it to a repair shop and had it diagnosed (no problems found)
    • Replaced keyboard, trackpad, screen and replaced battery
    • Replaced logic board

    She took it to an authorized Apple repair place and this is what she said,

    The technician contacted Apple and they used to have patch that they used because this is a common problem for this year of Mac. Apple told the technician said they no longer have that patch that would be considered certified? I'm really confused about this because computer works perfectly except after while the screen will go black. The young guy counter said take it someone who does on side/just not Apple certified tech and they will get patch... . Are you able take look at it.

    I'm not entirely sure what is going on here, but this seems really strange. She also said she's only spent $150, which doesn't make any sense to me.

    Does anyone know if there is a legit fix for this issue?

    iPhone 8 is in recover mode because it was stuck on apple logo, i tried to update the iPhone using iTunes in windows 10, but i keep getting "error 14 unable to update iPhone", also i don't have any storage left for the update and i cant access the phone and delete some storage. i need help thanks.

    Hi all! When someone calls my wife, and she puts her iPhone into speaker mode, the person on the other end can no longer hear her. This behavior manifests during FaceTime too. We've tried restarting the phone, removing any cases, turning off Bluetooth, etc. In regular call mode, no issues. Playback on speaker is good too. It's almost like putting it in speakerphone mode is a reverse mute button.
