For example I open a new tab, I write something on the reserch bar and after 1 or 2 second Safari opens a new tab and the words on the resech bar appears. Why? Posted: 25 Apr 2020 08:12 PM PDT MacOS uses "Sheets" for certain menus, scrolling them out a they open and scrolling them back in as they close. A lot of Mac and cross-platform applications use "Sheets" too. See here: https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/macos/windows-and-views/sheets/ They can give me migraines. "Reduce Motion" does not stop "Sheet" animations, or a lot of other standard animations, at least in Mojave. I haven't tried Catalina, because a lot of my apps require Mojave or older versions, but I might consider dual-booting. Is there another trick to block "Sheet" and other animations? I thought maybe my cable was broken so I didn't really care about that much . but as I charged my new iPhone SE on my Mac, it showed up in Finder and can be synced! | Posted: 25 Apr 2020 09:11 PM PDT Every time I try to shrink the APFS volume on my mac to add more Bootcamp size, I always get the error message: APFS Container resize error code is 49187 I tried every possible way, like check for local snapshots and multi checking if Time Machine is off although I have never used it. I also just reset macOS Mojave so I don't have any important files to lose on it. Is there a way for me to be able to get this issue fixed? | Any way to always show passwords instead of *****? Posted: 25 Apr 2020 12:00 PM PDT My mother is having trouble logging into things on her Mac. In particular, she is learning to use Zoom (aren't we all) and is having trouble typing in meeting passwords. She'll often miss a character, or double a character. She can still see OK and if she were able to see the password she has typed, she could fix it. But passwords are entered using hidden characters. Is there a global setting in Mac OS, or in Safari I guess, that would always show the full password she has typed instead of hiding it? Thanks! [link] [comments]  | ||

I try clicking the "Move to Trash" option on this popup but it is followed by another notification that reads:

Kodi on the Shield can recognize the drives but can't drill down to the media. I'm connected via zerocof/nfs. The only way to make this work, AFAIK, is to disable SIP. I don't really want to do that. | Why is it so hard to eject external drives on modern macOS? Posted: 25 Apr 2020 10:31 AM PDT I remember how convenient it used to be to eject a flash drive in Mac OS 9. Just close any app that's using the drive, drag it to Trash, approve the ejection and you're done. At least you didn't have to fear that the system would get stuck ejecting, unlike the Unix-based versions. Not that I didn't enjoy the stability of modern macOS, but ejecting seems to be a problem no matter what version of it you run. I've already had 3 MacBooks and had the same issue from 10.3 to 10.14 (don't know about Catalina, since I can't afford updating all my apps for it). Overall, I often find myself procrastinating my backup routine, since I never know what kind of a hassle it'll be to eject my backup drive. It doesn't help, that it's connected straight to the USB-C port of my 2019 MacBook Pro and not via a dongle. Either the system ejects the drive instantly, gets stuck for a few seconds, or argues that some app is using it even when that's not the case. It's the same deal whether it's a flash drive, an SD card or anything that's related to data transport. I bet that it'd be faster to stream 1080p videos via a 56k modem than to get your drive safely out of your Mac (just kidding). [link] [comments]  |
