My face ID still works even after I’ve taped the front camera. Posted: 15 Apr 2020 05:26 PM PDT I've been hearing a lot of thing from different people about covering your front camera for privacy reasons and have decided to do the same. But when I taped the camera, I noticed that the face ID recognition still works whenever I go to open my phone. I tried experimenting by covering the sensor part and it still worked. Then i went to cover the left side of the whole top pet and that's when it stopped working. Is there a memo I didn't get? Was it just general knowledge that you don't - maybe not completely - rely on the front camera? I'm using an Iphone XR. :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:17 PM PDT Does anyone know how to make the google keyboard on the iPhone XR black or not white? I have dark mode on in the phone settings but it doesn't do anything. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 11 battery capacity and heat warning Posted: 15 Apr 2020 09:54 PM PDT I've had my iphone 11 since september (got it when it launched) and I'm very happy with it. At the start of march, i noticed battery capacity got down to 97%. I asked an apple store worker about this and he told me it often recalculate the battery every 2/3 months so i should be fine until that but 3 days ago, battery capacity was at 95% and today it's at 94% . It keep decreasing and yesterday i got a heat warning . I was in my bed using my phone normally so i don't know why the warning. I used to use my phone 11 hours/a day but since animal crossing launched i'm only at 6 hours, so it keep going down even when I use it way less more. I'm actually very worried, why is decreasing so fast ? Why did i got the warning ? [link] [comments] |
Help!!! I accidentally deleted a really important note, can I recover it? Posted: 15 Apr 2020 08:59 PM PDT I'm here grasping for my last straw, if you can help, please let me know! I screwed up... Mistake #1: I typed out a very long message in note and inadvertently selected cut instead of copy when trying to transfer the message I had just typed out into another program. Mistake #2: When attempting to paste, I accidentally hit cut again and lost the entire message. Mistake #3: I've now learned after the fact that if I would have shaken my iPhone while still in Notes it would have recovered... That's great to know now...but doesn't help me with my problem. WTH does Notes not have an Undo Mistake #4: I've also now learned there are apps that I can download that will save cut/clip history. Again, doesn't help me currently. Am I out of options? Ugh... Thanks [link] [comments] |
Time for an upgrade?crashing and app icon issues Posted: 15 Apr 2020 07:51 PM PDT Hi all, I currently have an iPhone 8+. It seems like all of a sudden my phone is just pooped. All of my apps are crashing. I will randomly get a grey spinning wheel (same icon that shows up when iPhone dies) it'll spin for a minute and act like I rebooted my phone. Apps are background refreshing way too much. I will be sending iMessage, have to switch to google for just a moment, come back to message all progress is gone and refreshed But the main issue is that my apps turned transparent. About 75 percent of the apps i have icons aren't showing. I wish I could post a photo. Imagine the home screen, I know it is full of apps but it looks blank. But when I click somewhere the app will open. I see red notification bubbles but no apps Any thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:28 PM PDT My wife uses her phone to shoot video of herself from a tripod for her business, but she can't see how the video is framed up while she's shooting so setup time takes forever. Is there someway that she can turn another idevice into a live monitor of some kind while she's filming? [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7 Plus, disabled after broken screen Posted: 15 Apr 2020 05:38 PM PDT Hello! Asking for some help if anyone can offer. My phone screen shattered as of a few days ago. Due to the pandemic, I was unable to just go get the screen fixed or anything but then suddenly, when I checked last, the phone is saying it is disabled from too many passcode attempts (it seemed to type them because of the screen). I have never backed up my phone before (have had it for some years, but not a laptop, and the backup was too big for icloud). I mostly just want to retrieve the photos from my life if at all possible. Also, I think the phone was at iOS 10.3.3. Please let me know if anyone can help! It would mean the world. iphone 7+ automatically factory reset by itunes after required update Posted: 15 Apr 2020 05:19 PM PDT This morning I was using my phone as a hot spot for my dell laptop. When I attempted to download an excel file on my laptop, my iphone screen went black. The excel file came from a safe location, I wouldn't have any reason to believe there was any kind of virus. The iphone was plugged in and had plenty of charge. I tried shutting off the iphone, and turning it back on. This resulted in the apple logo flashing and then a blank/black screen. You could tell the iphone was on because the screen was black and lit as opposed to the dark black you see when its shut off completely. I tried charging the iphone to see if it would turn back on its own with no success. I plugged it into itunes and it said there was something wrong with this iphone, it would need to be updated or factory reset. It gave me options for both. I clicked update, and watched it download the new version of ios for three hours.. ~3.6GB download. When the update finished an itunes notification popped up saying "Your iphone has been factory reset". I don't backup my iphone regularly and I have icloud turned off because I have had nothing but bad experiences using icloud photos. Everything on my iphone is gone: important notes, pictures, phone numbers, text messages, voice memos.... I don't expect there is any way to recover my data but if there is please reach out to me. Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone explain why this happened? I think apple should be held accountable for automatically deleting priceless personal data. [link] [comments] |
Iphone randomly stops charging for a second and then it starts charging again Posted: 15 Apr 2020 04:20 PM PDT My iphone 11 and my moms iphone x randomly stops charging for about a second and then the charging sound play and it starts charging again. I've tried multiple plugs and cables and the same thing keeps happening. Btw both iphones are on ios 13.4.1. Maybe it is a software thing, cuz i started noticing it on my iphone after the update or maybe it is a coincidence idk. Does any of you guys have the same issue? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:50 PM PDT My iPhone XR is stuck in a reboot cycle in which it will not completely turn on but is stuck on the apple logo screen. I am able to get it into recovery mode and have tried updating it, but iTunes says that it is unable to update my device and I would have to restore it. I haven't backed it up in a while (my fault, I know), but I was wondering if there were any third-party applications that would help me extract photos from my iPhone before restarting it as I have many pictures that I would like to keep. I've downloaded iMazing, the trial version, after seeing it pop up on a few posts and see that there is an option to browse the phone's content and such, but it does not recognize my iPhone unless it is in recovery mode as it won't turn on completely. I appreciate the help, thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:17 PM PDT Howdy folks, For awhile now all of the sound on my iphone 8 plus has been super low. I've searched all over google and done the tricks listed, i.e ambient noise fix, turning up volume sliders, turning off sound limiter, updating software, etc. but my call volume is still so low I basically have to use speakerphone for every call. It's not just call volume though, all of the sound that is played through phone speakers is pretty low. I tested my sister's sound (she has the same phone) and her phone at half volume seems to be around what mine is at full volume. Anyone know what might be going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! [link] [comments] |
iPhone 11 Pro - Transfer ALL Photos to Macbook Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:26 AM PDT I am trying to backup ALL of the photos from my iPhone to my MacBook. The best way I could see to do this way via Airdrop. I tried selecting all 7,000-something photos/videos but that failed(not at all surprised). I tried going through the month by month view which only sent over 656 photos via Airdrop. Is there another way to get this done? I tried using Photos but even then it doesn't seem import all of the photos on the iPhone either. I then also tried iCloud Photos, but enabling that I received a warning that it will wipe about 1,000-something of my photos in the process of activation. [link] [comments] |
Boyfriend’s phone suddenly not working, help? Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:38 AM PDT My boyfriend and I both have iphone XR's, mine is working fine but his suddenly stopped working a bit ago. Resetting with the volume and lock buttons hasn't worked, nothing happens when we hold them. The phone is stuck on a black screen where you can still see the time and battery, you can pull down notifications and swipe right to get to news, etc, but nothing will open if you click on it and you can't swipe up to go home. The phone locks and unlocks. Any advice is appreciated! Update: Plugged it into my laptop and it allowed us to trust my computer but now my laptop is just loading on the "trust" screen and won't let us in further to mess with any settings. Also can't get to settings on the iphone. Laptop is a macbook air. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:59 AM PDT Tried turning things on and off, disconnecting and re-connecting and no avail. Edit: Ok, it only happens with Spotify 🤔 Edit 2: Ok it was definitely Spotify. For reference I found a solution online and applied it:

Stolen phone Find My iPhone removal Posted: 15 Apr 2020 08:57 AM PDT What is the likelihood of a phone thief accessing my data from an iPhone 4 that was stolen 7 years ago...? I accidentally removed (what I assume) was that device from Find My iPhone without erasing first (honestly forgot about it after all these years, didn't even realise it was still on there and I thought I'd get rid of it) and then had a sudden panic of someone getting into that phone if they still had it... I know it's a long time ago I expect the phone was immediately wiped by the thief and sold on as a new phone but I understand I disabled activation lock so the paranoia in me can't stop worrying thinking I've just opened up my old phone to someone. Phone had a passcode and so did some apps. Obviously it was offline from the time it was taken and has never had activity since (hence why I thought I'd just remove it!!) so I imagine it was just restored and sold like most stolen phones but just want some peace of mind! Can’t adjust volume of media while on phone call Posted: 15 Apr 2020 08:01 AM PDT When on a phone call with airpods (iPhone XR) and I play other media (facebook, youtube videos or spotify music) or even videos from my camera roll the volume is extremely loud and I cant adjust it because it only adjusts for the phone call, does anyone know how to fix this? Control centre doesn't work and neither do buttons, or the manual sound controls on the app [link] [comments] |
Got myself an iPhone 8 Plus that won't turn on at all, completely dead. What do I do with it? Posted: 15 Apr 2020 01:58 AM PDT Last week, I used my iPhone 8 Plus to deliver an order to a customer for DoorDash while listening to music on the YouTube app with bluetooth connected to my car in a relatively warm weather. All of the sudden, the phone turns off like poof, completely black and the music disconnects and my trip to the customer comes to a halt. I looked this problem up and found "Black Screen of Death" to be the most descriptive. Btw, I rushed home to grab my mother's iPhone to finish delivering the order to the customer in case you're wondering. I tried like everything in the book to get it to turn on. Nothing worked. This actually happened once last year and what I did to resolve it was to bring it to my car which had connected it via bluetooth after charging it overnight. I tried that same tactic again but this time, it didn't seem to work. I am entirely skeptical on this but I did remove the bluetooth connectivity after it died in hopes that this will solve this problem, which it didn't. So like I said, I tried everything: Recharging it overnight, leaving it alone for couple days and hope that whatever is keeping it this way will be powered off due to drained battery, connecting it to iTunes which it couldn't recognize the device, hard resetting 10 times, air dusting the charging port...Nothing. The home button is locked. There is absolutely no sounds. When I tried calling my number with a different phone, I would instantly get a voicemail. I took it to two stores that specialize in repairing iPhones and both had no luck. One however, was willing to do a circuitry repair on the motherboard for around $160-$200. I decided to just hold on to it and hope that somehow I will manage to get it back to life or find an alternative way to dispose this phone and mitigate the loss. I quickly bought a new iPhone and set up all the apps, settings and whatnot again. I still have the old iPhone on hand with its original charger and box. What would be the best option for me to dispose this phone? Does Apple take defective phones for some credit? What have been your experiences regarding this? **The condition is fairly good. It's been wearing it's cover and screen glass for pretty much its whole life. Dropped it maybe 2 ~ 3 times and none of it was above like 3-4 feet. When I shake it, no parts are rattling. Barely any scratches or markings. I would give it a solid A-. [link] [comments] |
Help regarding ways to send links from Safari (iPhone) to Windows PC Posted: 15 Apr 2020 05:54 AM PDT Hi, I hope my post doesn't get removed, but I really need your thoughts. Thanks in advance. People suggested Push Bullet but this is no longer available on iTunes. I also tried "Continue on PC", it's good, only when it really works. I would say for me the success rate is less than 15%. Most of the time I try to send the web pages to my PC, but it keeps saying "Something went wrong". Also people are suggesting Roamit, but unfortunately this is only for Windows and Android. Any suggestions please. [link] [comments] |
Problem with share photo/link feature Posted: 15 Apr 2020 01:23 AM PDT Hi, When I try to use the share features interface (where you can send photos, links, etc to other people, see attatched) nothing comes up. Furthermore, it makes my phone go to about 3fps and I cannot do anything except close the app I'm using. Does anyone know why this is? I've tried restarting and updating the phone, having it plugged in, closing all apps, turning off background app refresh to save RAM and so far nothing has worked. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you [link] [comments] |
