Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:25 AM PDT I have an iPad Pro 11" (2018) and I recently bought a MacBook Air (2018) since I found it more efficient for work. I would like to use the iPad more, I do a lot of reading - academic journals, books, the news - however for some reason I prefer using my MacBook to read despite not having True Tone. With my MacBook I can sit down and easily read, but because the iPad is lower down and smaller, I have to look down more which causes my neck to hurt. Anyone else have this sort of problem? Anyone comfortable with reading on the iPad? [link] [comments]

how many amps does the lightning port output to accessories? Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:56 AM PDT when googling this question all you get is the iPad's current draw from a charger. what i want to know is the maximum amperage that accessories will draw from the iPad itself. for instance, you plug in the lightning to USB camera adapter and plug that into a USB powerable MIDI keyboard controller, how many amps will the iPad allow you to draw to power that accessory? 2020 iPad Pro 11 first tablet since iPad Air 2 Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:25 AM PDT Just ordered a 2020 iPad Pro 11 256GB WIFI and this is my 2nd tablet ever. The last tablet I bought was a 2016 iPad Air 2 64GB Cellular model which after a year I sold. So why after almost 4 years did I decide to re-buy a tablet? One it's very apparent that there simply isn't anymore Android tablet competition and the only semi competition might be Microsoft with their Surface X and Surface Pro lineup, which IMO isn't a direct comparison. Either way the 2018-2020 iPad Pro models have cemented themselves as the best tablets in the game and with the new OS that supports enhanced multitasking, cursor support, and the fact that iPads now support USB C and other peripherals, controller support, new keyboards that have track pads, and the fact that the processor for the iPad Pros is essentially equal to a mobile Intel i5 processor. So a lot of my reasoning to step back into the tablet game is based on my iPad Air 2 ownership pitfalls. The iPad Air 2 at the time of release was a marvel in how thin and light anyone could make a tablet while still being premium. The Apple Typhoon tri-core and processor, GXA6850 GPU, and 2GB of RAM were fast for the time but running a game like NBA 2K mobile still was incredibly choppy and "Pro" creation software was non existent. Basically the iPad Air 2 was an incredibly thin and light consumption based tablet that was really good for surfing the web, email, and basic mobile gaming. With Apple support more and more prosumer content creation apps, console quality games able to run at 60-120 FPS, and controller support the iPad Pro lineup basically can replace some people's laptops and should be considered as an option for mobile gaming, although much more expensive than a Nintendo Switch but more powerful. The new Magic Keyboards and hopefully third party ones to follow should change the iPad into a true Macbook alternative Other reasons why I gave up on the iPad Air 2 was 64GB while at the time seemed like a lot, it quickly filled up. My iPhone 11 XR is 128GB and I have already filled that with 88GB, now most of that is photos and podcasts which I wouldn't have on an iPad but now with apps becoming more intensive and larger in size, 64GB just doesn't cut it unless you are just using the iPad as a consumption device and in that case I would recommend the much cheaper current gen iPad Air. Secondly I think I made the rookie mistake of overbuying in the sense I didn't need cellular LTE. Not only did I pay a premium for the LTE version I found that in 2016 without "unlimited" data and paying $30 a month for data was too limiting and very expensive. With public WIFI becoming more available, being able to Hot Spot, and realizing that I mainly use my tablet at home or work 90% of the time, paying for LTE support makes no sense. Also while 4G is plenty, if I were to buy another cellular iPad at least give us 5G support Apple. Other reasons to go iPad Pro as of today is they simply have larger screens. The iPad Air was wasn't tiny at 9.7" but at times it felt a tad small compared to a laptop. One of my favorite Apple products was the Apple Macbook Air 11.6", which I thought was an amazing consumption device. Now the iPad Pro 11" fits in between the iPad Air 2 and the Macbook Air 11.6" in terms of screen size, but this makes it kind of the best of both worlds with it being light and small enough to throw into any bag while having enough space to do content creations or comfortably type up some docs with ease. Secondly while I never used the back cameras on the iPad Air 2 I did use the front facing one and it was simply garbage even for the time. The fact that the iPad Pro 11 has updated cameras and mics that make Zoom or Facetime seem quality is pretty huge. As someone who games and has a dedicated gaming PC with a 120Hz display I know the benefits of a high refresh screen especially with games but also with just scrolling a web page. Will it help me get more kills in Fortnite, maybe not since I am pretty bad at that game but it does make everything feel so much smoother. So why now? Some will argue that the 2018 iPad Pros performance wise are nearly as good since the only updates are the GPU, WIFI 6, better mics, better cameras, more RAM (4GB vs 6GB) and storage now starting at 128GB compared to 64GB 2018. You could defiantly buy a 2018 model and be very happy but for me I wasn't finding 2018 models to be that much cheaper than new 2018 models since either way I wanted to get a 2556GB model. 2018 iPad Pro 11 256GB WIFI are going for $800 new at places like B&H Photo while a 2020 iPad Pro 11 256GB WIFI from Apple (w/ student discount which they did NOT validate) or Costco are $850. Essentially $50 more, even for a minor update seems totally worth it. Whether or not you need the Pro and should just go with an iPad Air is a totally different debate. In my eyes the Magic Keyboard support, larger screen, smaller bezels, and the ability to somewhat future proof your iPad performance wise was enough to spend $200 more on a Pro. Posted: 15 Apr 2020 02:09 PM PDT I use my iPad in landscape mode 90% of the time because i use a keyboard and mouse with my iPad. I've noticed that one app i have seems to be iPhone so it doesn't fill the screen, and is stuck in portrait mode. Is there a way to make the screen rotate so i can see the app upright but still have my iPad in landscape position? [link] [comments]
Drawing/sketching app that allows for simultaneous collaboration Posted: 15 Apr 2020 01:58 PM PDT Hi guys, for a present a friend and me want to sketch some kind of basic comic, unfortunate thing is that were not at the same place and have no opportunity to do so. So what we wanna do is draw/sketch together on the same file at the same time and we both have an iPad (she even got a pen) which is probably the best device to sketch something like that anyways. Is there any app, maybe even free, that allows us to do that? The sketching abilities can be very basic, were both no artists by any means, just some different pen sizes and colors should do, maybe a fill here and there if were feeling fancy. Would help me a lot! Best regards, stoevi [link] [comments]
Lightroom on ordinary iPad (6th or 7th generation) Posted: 15 Apr 2020 04:46 AM PDT Hi! I'm sure that Lightroom runs great on iPad Pro and iPad Air (3rd gen at least) but I was wondering if anyone tried RAW editing on ordinary iPad? I'm pretty sure you can do it, but I wonder how the experience is. Does it lag when you apply changes? I'm photo enthusiasts and recently figured out that Lightroom works way better on my iPhone Xs than on laptop. But Xs uses A12 while iPads are still on A10. [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 07:27 AM PDT Hello, I have an iPad Air (3rd generation). Well due to lockdown we have been told to use the app for live lectures, I downloaded the app on my android and I am unable to download it in my iPad. When I went through the requirements it is mentioned that it is available on iOS and iPadOS with cellular + WiFi only. Is there a way where I can download this app on my WiFi only iPad, like somehow trick app store, because it would be a convenient to study in bigger screen. PS: this is my first Apple device so I dont have much idea about the OS. [link] [comments]
What digital planners/calendars do you guys use? Posted: 15 Apr 2020 01:24 PM PDT Although it's subjective I'm looking for something that's visually appealing and not so boring looking. But regardless I'm curious what everyone uses lol. [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Apr 2020 12:58 PM PDT I use my Apple Pencil for handwriting a lot on my iPad Air 3, with no perturbing camera so that it lays flat on surfaces. People who have the iPad Pro 2018 or 2020, does the camera bump affect you're handwriting ability because I'm thinking of upgrading and don't really want to get a case that thickens the entire iPad to the same level as the camera. Whats your take on trackpad/mouse on iPad Posted: 15 Apr 2020 06:01 AM PDT Now that ipadOS have official pointing devices support, has it improves the way you use your iPad? Do you prefer to use it or have you resort back to minimalist setup with just touch? [link] [comments]
Educational accessories and apps for children designed for an iPad Pro Posted: 15 Apr 2020 05:27 AM PDT As far as I understand, Osmo is not compatible with any of the current models of the the iPad pro. In fact, it has never been compatible with the 12.9 inch model. Anyone knows if there are any similar educational toolkits for children that are compatible with this screen size? Do minecraft support 120hz on ios? Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:25 AM PDT Waiting for my ipad pro next month. Really wanna know if minecraft, and old games like pvz 1&2 support 120hz. Thx for any answers [link] [comments]
Duet Display quality worse when wired Posted: 15 Apr 2020 03:14 AM PDT I bought Duet Display because my iPad 2017 doesn't suport Sidecar OOTB and since I tried Sidecar and everything worked perfect, I thought Duet would be the same, since they claim it is fully hardware accelerated. The quality is much worse when wired and choosing all the high quality settings, but when wireless, it is absolutely crystal clear. I want to use wired because it is obviously more reliable. Does anyone have any tips? I have enabled Retina and high performance, along with 60fps. Yes, I tried to talk to them, but no response. [link] [comments]
iPad Sidecar - Can I use my iPad Pro as an extended display when remote accessing my PC? Posted: 15 Apr 2020 07:28 AM PDT I'm working from home. At work, I use a PC and have 2 monitors. At home I'm using a MacBook Pro to remote access my work desktop using GoToMyPC. I'm able to successfully use my iPad as a sidecar/extended display when using my MacBook. However, when I remote access my work desktop (PC), I open the display options, then I click detect - it says "didn't detect another display". Meaning it only detects the screen of my MacBook Pro. Why isn't the sidecar detected as a second screen? Anyone know if this can work? It would be highly beneficial if I could use both screens. [link] [comments]
