Examples of games with a "free to try, IAP to unlock" model?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 06:47 AM PDT

I recently released a game for iOS/Android and we've been getting great reviews so far, except for a few who didn't realise that the game isn't entirely free, it's just free to try, and at a certain point in the story, you'll have to pay a one-time fee to unlock the rest of the game.

I know that we're not communicating this well enough (here's the game if anyone is wondering), but I'm also having trouble figuring out the best way to do this.

Does anyone have examples of games with a similar model? I'd love to see how they've solved this.

Fantasy RPGs with deep & unique gameplay

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 02:35 AM PDT

I never was interested in turn-based games but I've been enjoying them a lot lately. I really liked Battle Chasers: Nightwar. I enjoy thinking about the synergies and making use of different team combinations.

I'm looking for other games that are really great and strategic. It doesn't necessarily have to be turn-based. My major requirement would be for the game to feature an experimentation with characters, team building, spells, items, etc. I also would prefer character design that isn't too small and pixelated.

Other games I've enjoyed: Vainglory, Shadowverse, Sdorica: Sunset, Autochess, Champion Strike RTS

Thank you for reading! I look forward to your suggestions.

    Kid-friendly 2-player COVID birthday app

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 08:35 AM PDT

Hi everyone, My (soon to be) 9-year-old is having a socially isolated birthday soon.

We are looking for an online-multiplayer app that has quick games (less than 10 minutes) that he can play one at a time with his friends for a mini tournament.

Should be kid friendly (Bowmasters looked promising but was too gory).

Ideally would be Android and iOS since some people don't have an iOS device.

Also, free would be good... it will be hard to convince/organize people to shell out.

Mario Kart would have been good but then everyone would have had to go through the Nintendo account creation and the four races in the first cup before they could multiplayer.

Any help would be wonderful... I'm really striking out here.

    Thanks!

    Strategy games like Siegefall

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 05:43 AM PDT

Years ago there was a Chinese imperial themed game where you deploy troops to a map of sorts and draw their direction of attack. (Don't recall the name..)

The closest game to that I could find was Siegefall, but it has not been updated in years.

What is this style of game called? Does anyone have any further suggestions of similar games?

    Play iPad on iPhone?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 09:35 AM PDT

Is there a software like Valve Steam Link to play games running on an iPad via an iPhone?

Why would you want to do this?

IPad Pro supports Apple Arcade and newer games.

iPhone 6 stuck on iOS version 12 and doesn't support Apple Arcade.

It'd be more flexible to roam around the house and play games on the phone with a holder and a Nimbus controller.

    I hope I'm making sense.

    Thank you.

In the case of iOS development which framework are developers going towards?

I'm working on an open-source, cross-platform Distributed database and wanted some opinion on which framework should we support for iOS development.

Is there a game like MONSTER STRIKE available here in the USA (and in English)?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 06:16 PM PDT

I loved that game and have tried to ply the JP version but even with all the awesome guides and people out there, the language barrier is just too much.

A similar game would be much appreciated.

Droppi - It’s Tetris + Plinko + 2048/Threes. A fun, challenging game that combines physics and math.

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 09:49 PM PDT

Hey iOS gaming - happy developer Saturday!

    Droppi - App Store

I've been working on Droppi for awhile now and have recently released it wide. The goal of Droppi is to combine like numbers by applying gravity to Droppis, which will generate points. You play until a Droppi hits the top line.

It's a fun, challenging game that's perfect for quarantine. There are 5 shape modes (Circle, Square, Hexagon, Ellipse, and Mixed) and 4 difficulties (Easy, Med, Hard, X Hard). That's 20 GameCenter leaderboards for you to dominate!

I'd really appreciate you downloading it, playing it, rating and reviewing it, and giving me personal feedback.

    Thank you and enjoy!

Looking for some free-no ads/cheap puzzlers for my elderly grandparents’ iPads.

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 11:28 AM PDT

My grandmother has been doing physical puzzles to pass time during quarantine, but has finished all of the ones she owns and the ones she's borrowed from friends have had pieces missing.

Today I asked her if shes tried any puzzlers on her ipad which piqued her interest.

She also likes games such as sudoku.

Ideally the apps would need to be ad free because I could sense incoming confusion should she accidentally press the ads, though I'm pretty sure she'd be willing to pay a couple of pounds for a game too.

    Thanks

Could someone help me? I’m trying to gift a game!~

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 02:17 PM PDT

I'm currently trying to gift stardew valley to a friend and when I went in it said to add a payment method.
Am I unable to use the account balance to buy gifts? If I'm able to why is it asking for a card I have way more than the required amount.
