[Bug] [Discussion] Unnecessary Delay in Haptic Touch Posted: 25 Apr 2020 02:32 PM PDT So back in November I filed a bug report regarding a remnant from the early beta days of iOS 13, that hasn't yet been fixed. People had noted how Haptic Touch was noticeably slower than 3D Touch, however, there is a reason behind this. During the early betas, Apple was testing different approaches to Contextual Menus whilst being able to move apps around, and at one point, the way it had been set up was if you rested your finger for a second and lifted, the apps would start wiggling. If you kept your finger rested, the Contextual Menu would appear. Since then, that functionality was reversed, and wiggle mode appears after you keep your finger rested while the Contextual Menu appears. Apple changed this however, allowing you to drag apps around at any given time after the feedback, even while in the Contextual Menu. This is where the bug comes in. When you feel the haptic feedback, there is a delay before you get the Contextual Menu to appear. However, if you lift your finger the moment you feel the haptic, the animation loads instantaneously, with no delay. The only place where this delay isn't present is within the Control Center itself. The moment you feel the haptic, the animation occurs instantly for the action. So it begs one to question, if the Contextual Menu will appear regardless of you keeping your finger rested or lifting your finger the moment you feel the haptic feedback, why does the delay still exist? submitted by /u/SteveJobsOfficial [link] [comments]
