On a Dolby Vision capable TV, what should match frame rate and dynamic range be set to? Posted: 27 Apr 2020 03:35 AM PDT Currently I have my default video setting at 4K Dolby Vision @ 60Hz with match frame rate on and match dynamic range off. Is this correct for DV? Also to add, my TV has a "real cinema" setting which should have the same effect as match frame rate on the ATV4K. I've disabled this along with TruMotion (motion smoothing) in order to allow ATV to handle the frame rate. Would it be better if I disabled match frame rate on the ATV to allow my TV to do this independently? [link] [comments]
Setting "Show me on apple tv" on an iPad or iOS device does not add user to Apple TV Posted: 27 Apr 2020 04:28 AM PDT I have 3 Apple TVs (2 4k and a 4th gen) and all are up to date with tvOS. I want to use the user switching to better keep track of the up next list. When I use my wife's phone or daughters iPad (all up to date) to go into the Home app and enable 'show me on apple tv' nothing happens. I've restarted everything and the users will only show up not he Apple TVs if I manually add them. Is this anyone else's experience or is it just me? [link] [comments]
Home Before Dark “outdated” Apple tech Posted: 26 Apr 2020 09:15 AM PDT First off, if you haven't yet watched Home Before Dark on AppleTV+ you definitely should. It's the best show I've watched on the service. Naturally, in all the AppleTV+ shows Apple product placement is everywhere. I noticed throughout this particular series though that the tech is all several years old. All the characters use an iPhone 6S and the main character, Hilde, uses a several generations old 15" Macbook Pro. I just found it interesting because the series was filmed in 2018. Any inclination why Apple would use outdated tech rather than the latest and greatest? [link] [comments]
Anyone purchased Big Bang Theory (Complete Series)? Posted: 26 Apr 2020 10:38 PM PDT Purchased this a while back when it was on sale. I cannot play the series from TV App because it prompts me to purchase all of the episodes. I spoke with support but they came with an answer I don't think is accurate. "Good Morning Matthew, I was able to get a response on the case from the Engineering team on the issue related to purchased TV series. They did confirm that the issue you are having is expected behavior because the main bundles purchased were not available in the store anymore. The only way the content can be accessed is from the library. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reply to this email. I have also provided 3 movie rental credits on the account as a thank you for your patience while waiting on this response. Again, thanks for calling and allowing us the opportunity to better your experience. If there is ever anything more we can do, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.If you have any questions or concerns about another issue outside of iTunes, please visit: https://getsupport.apple.com and follow the steps to chat, email, call, or have an advisor call you. Tip: To save time on hold, schedule a call back." Not only is the series still for sale but when I first purchased the series, seasons 11 & 12 would play but they refreshed the purchase at which point seasons 1-10 were playable and not 11-12. Within 24 hours no episodes were playable via TV app. I can play all episodes via the iTunes TV app which is ok but far less convenient. I don't have this issue with any other series. What really can I use an AppleTV for? Posted: 27 Apr 2020 05:48 AM PDT Hey, I was thinking about getting an Apple TV (have a monitor left which I do not use) but I don't really know what I can use the Apple TV for if that makes sense. I know that you can use it to stream Netflix or Spotify but what else can it do? What are some functions useful for me? I have an iPhone 11 and a MacBook Pro 13" (2015). Would be cool if someone could explain some features to me. [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Apr 2020 03:35 AM PDT Just wondering if anyone knows where I can find more music/sounds similar to the sound design you hear after you've finished watching the news on the Reuters app and are too lazy to turn the tv off [link] [comments]
Is Apple TV coming out with a new box soon? Posted: 26 Apr 2020 07:05 AM PDT I'm debating on buying Apple TV 4K or with all the recent announcements should I wait? [link] [comments]
Best game that requires a controller? Posted: 26 Apr 2020 01:40 PM PDT So I bought a DualShock 4 for my Apple TV 4K, only to figure that most games take advantage of motion controls. And if they can use a controller, they can still be played with the remote. Im looking for a game that requires a controller... Similar to some of the fire tv games. [link] [comments]
[Help] [4K] Netflix Menu Stuttering Posted: 26 Apr 2020 02:11 PM PDT Hi guys, Bit of a weird one on my Apple TV 4K - the problem is mainly with the Netflix menu, all other streaming services or data heavy media are absolutely fine. Basically there's massive input lag, stuttering and staggering when browsing the Netflix menu on my ATV 4K. A few searches led to similar problems but mine is entirely localised to the menu - playback is perfect and no other apps are affected. I've got 4K HDR 60Hz on but tried with all the different formats, refresh rates and content matching and nothing seems to fix it. Even in 1080p SDR 50Hz or other variants down to 25Hz it's actually worse. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Apr 2020 05:53 PM PDT Hi All, I've arranged for iron socket to change the DNS on my box so it removed the geotagging issue I had previously. It seems to have worked in that I have managed to download Hulu, Netflix, along and HBO without issue. The issue comes when say on Netflix, the UK app would stream UHD / 4K comfortably bit the US one struggles, in fact the UHD option isnt often seen. I have a 500mbps.connection via extender and ethernet which is providing the TV a solid 200mbps the program / film seem to take an age to load and the quality is not good, 1080p tops. I expect the VPN to throttle it somewhat but not to this level. I have never done this previously but assume I haven't missed anything in the set up. Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated. I have the newest 4k 64gb version Apple TV. Thanks in advance [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Apr 2020 01:49 PM PDT Good evening fellow lock down inmates. Is anyone else experiencing issues with Netflix not playing the next episode on the apple TV 4k? The sound plays but no picture. I have to resort to stopping playback and restart. [link] [comments]
