| Posted: 18 Apr 2020 02:09 AM PDT Hi We currently have an Apple TV HD (4th Generation), and an Apple TV (3rd Generation), but I want to use the newer features of tvOS; my question is should I replace the Apple TV (3rd Generation) with an Apple TV HD (4th Generation), or an Apple TV 4K (5th Generation) for future proofing in case we want to get a 4K TV later. | HDR settings are driving me insane! Posted: 17 Apr 2020 03:08 PM PDT Received my ATV a couple of days ago... cannot for the life of me to get HDR content to not be washed out and worse than SDR. I've read dozens of threads on this Reddit with people experiencing the same thing. I've tried every setting and combination of settings I can think of. I have range matching and frame matching on and the ATV set to 4K SDR. I have 'Ultra Deep Colour' enabled on my LG TV. But I've also tried it without and have the same problem. No matter what I do, I can't get it to work the way it needs to. I don't want to turn up the brightness and saturation on my TV settings to counter it as that'll then ruin everything that's not HDR + I have no way to know what the perfect setting should be. As such, I've been sticking with the 'Standard' picture mode on the LG which has the backlight up to 100%. Before the ATV I had the backlight set to around 50% which was more than bright enough. | Solution for Viewing Complete TV Series by Season Posted: 17 Apr 2020 08:49 PM PDT Not sure if this has already been figured out, but I think I may have discovered a solution to the endless scrolling required when buying complete TV series on iTunes... If you start an episode, back out, then re-enter playback through 'Watch Now' in the TV app, you can hit the Menu button and then select 'More Episodes' to view things by season versus having to scroll through every episode like usual. It's done this in the past... but it fixed it self briefly. All things audio are delayed/distorted on our 4K Apple TV. The sound moving between apps is distorted and delayed, and all streaming sounds bad and is delayed. I've reset the tv, changed HDMI inputs, and turned everything on and off. I'm out of solutions. Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:46 PM PDT now before you send me off on some wild rabbit chase of teaching my apple tv to recognize my tv's remote, or teach my apple tv remote my tv's codes… i don't want to do any of that. right now, i use remote.app to do 95% of what i want on my tv. unfortunately, volume is not one of them. and until apple tv figures out how to equalize all media across all apps, i run into this on a multi-multi-multi-daily basis. the tv is a tcl roku tv. yes, there is a roku app for that, but switching back and forth (especially being caught off guard for that first 10 seconds the blazing loud new thing is playing while people are sleeping), well, is really throwing off my groove. i know, i know #firstworldcoronavirusproblems. is this doable? i've consumed 90% of my media via portable screens for the last decade, so i'm kind of learning what all can (and can't) be controlled over hdmi. too long, didn't read: can the apple tv control the tcl roku tv's volume over their hdmi connections? I do not have an hdmi port on the back of my soundbar. I am able to control the volume of the soundbar with the Apple TV remote. | Posted: 17 Apr 2020 10:37 AM PDT Hello! I have been working at this for days with no luck. The ATV is configured with an active Bluetooth connection to the Logitech Harmony Hub. Using the Harmony software.... ultimately the commands sent from my Harmony 950 remote (and the responsiveness of the ATV) are just way slower than the same from the ATV remote. I have an ATV 4th Generation -> Yamaha Receiver -> Sony Bravia TV. Other devices are also connected to this receiver. Everything is controlled universally by the Harmony solution.. This might just be an 'Apple thing', and the ATV remote may have proprietary technology that the Harmony tools cannot reproduce - if that's the case then there probably is no solution I have this same setup configured for my Nvidia Shield and it works flawlessly. The Harmony remote is exactly as fast and as responsive as the Nvidia remote. Any suggestions on how to tune the ATV-Harmony bluetooth connections so it's more in line with that of the actual ATV remote? SAME EXACT PROBLEM/QUESTION for the TiVo DCX900 DVR device (I haven't written up a post yet...) Thanks Bob [link] [comments]  | ||

Apologies. Hello all, My 4K Apple TV was delivered a couple of days ago and I have a question which basically comes down to integration with HomeKit. Firstly, it was disappointing to see that I can't control the Apple TV as part of a scene including video content, e.g. specifying it to open Netflix via a HomeKit scene. I have pretty much my entire set up controlled via HomeKit and Homebridge so this is actually a bit of a step back. But I digress. My problem right now is that asking Siri to turn off any accessories in the same room as the Apple TV just results in the Apple TV itself being turned off. "Turn off the PS4" "Okay, the Apple TV is off" "Turn off the lights" "Okay the Apple TV is off" "Turn off everything in the room" "Okay the Apple TV is off" But everything else stays on. You get the idea. Please does anyone have any advice or fixes? I've tried varying the name of the Apple TV but no success. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]  |
