As a former Apple User, I want to thank Apple for releasing an Apple TV app for non-apple devices Posted: 16 Apr 2020 09:41 PM PDT Like many, i purchased many movies and TV shows off of iTunes back in the day. While I had iPhone 4s back in the day, I left for Android for personal preferences and with it, Amazon FireTV. The new Apple is wonderful. I am able to watch ALL of my shows and movies I purchased again. People can shit on apple all they want, but Apple has gotten so just better when it comes to playing along with other companies instead of competing and locking. [link] [comments]

Apple TV 4. Gen HD/4K: Same case? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 02:19 PM PDT I've got a pretty beat up Apple TV 4. Gen 4K here and was wondering if the case is exactly the same as the 4. Gen HD. I would love to swap the case of my old but great condition HD and the 4K. Does anyone know? [link] [comments]
No Apple TV Remote in Home Automation Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:44 PM PDT Has anybody noticed that you cannot select the apple tv remote when you want to create a home automation shortcut? The remote is available for normal shortcuts, but for some reason not in home automation [link] [comments]
ABC News Live app update- live streams are all gone now?? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 09:49 AM PDT I don't expect much of an answer so maybe this is more of a gripe than anything else. I've been watching the ABC News app on my Apple TV throughout the pandemic because I could set my screen up to show video from four live streams at once and toggle between the audio. It was pretty awesome. However today I tuned in and the live stream section is just... missing! WTF it was the only thing that made the app superior to other news apps in my opinion. Does anyone know why they changed it? example of my split screen abilities [link] [comments]

How do I know when HDR is activated on my films? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:33 PM PDT So I just bought my first OLED HDR TV and basic films look amazing. The issue I'm having is I'm not sure if my tv is picking up HDR for my films. The Apple TV itself asked me if I wanted to switch to 4K HDR and I did that but there was no indication on my TV's part to say if it was enabled for the film. My tv is the SONY - KD-65AG9BU [link] [comments]
I'm really curious about how digital format copyrights work. Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:37 PM PDT I've been waiting years for the Ken Burns film The War to go HD on iTunes/TV app, but it remains only available in SD, which is weird because every other film of his is available in SD or HD - even The Civil War, which is older than The War. At first I assumed it's because The War HD is being worked on, but I know The War in on Blu-ray, and I also noticed Amazon has had The War available on digital HD for ages now. So how does this work? Why does Apple not have it? Is it merely they haven't gotten to it and others like it yet? Or is there some underlying deal/copyright that needs to expire elsewhere or something? Any info or input would be welcome! [link] [comments]
[Feature Request] Home App for Apple TV / Motion Live Stream Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:19 PM PDT It kind of blows my mind that there still isn't a Home App for Apple TV. Especially now with more and more cameras (and doorbells) starting to work with HomeKit and HSV, it would be nice to have a Home App on the Apple TV. I am imagining watching something on my Apple TV when my Camera detects motion and pops up a small window in a corner with a live stream of my camera that detected motion. VERY surprised that's not out there. Do Feature Suggestion actually do anything? [link] [comments]
Posted: 16 Apr 2020 09:09 PM PDT I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) and an Apple TV 4K. When I go to Pornhub, their video player has an AirPlay button but I cannot actually get it to successfully stream to my Apple TV. It works on other websites, and it works streaming from my iPhone and iPad to my Apple TV. How do I fix this? [link] [comments]
Apps are not updating on their own Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:15 AM PDT Posted this a few months back with no luck... trying again. I know others are having this experience since the post gets upvoted. Running 13.4 on all four of my ATVs. Ever since the 13.0 update, none of my apps auto update. And the auto update is enabled. Anyone have this experience? Ideas on how to fix it? Really annoying since I have to go in to manually update, and then each app asks me to put in my AppleID password. Over and over and over. [link] [comments]
Apple TV+ Sucks on PC... here's why Posted: 16 Apr 2020 08:26 PM PDT First off, this will not work. You need to download either Google Chrome or the Brave browser. Doing so you will be able to stream the Apple TV+ shows, but they will look terrible; at least for me. My display is 1440p and it looks worst than some YouTube videos that are more than 10 years old. I have even tried paying... yes, PAYING for the codec Microsoft offers in its store, 'HEVC Video Extensions'. It was only $0.99. It allowed me to now be able to use Apple TV+ streaming on Apple's website... at the SAME quality I had for free on both of the other browsers mentioned above. SMH. I searched far and wide on the Internet, found a post that said something to the effect of use the URL: edge://flags and ENABLE PlayReady DRM for Windows 10. Which I did and restarted the browser. Same results. Streaming that looks like 480p. I tried streaming on my iPhone XS Max, looks great in HD 1080p or above. I used my Apple TV to stream, the same results, looks great. I just want to use my beautiful 27" 1440p 144Hz display to watch some great film, as I do to view: YouTube in 1440p, Netflix and Hulu in 1080p or above. Is that too hard to ask for? Does anyone know how to get the free year again? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 08:04 PM PDT I got a new I home beginning of March and activated the free year last week, then went into the AppStore and accidentally cancelled the subscription Will I get the year or is it down and I'll have to pay Asking bc I was hoping to watch it while I had no job to purchase it [link] [comments]
Apple TV Playing Unchecked Music Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:44 PM PDT Hello! I play music through my Apple TV, but I have noticed it plays everything, including unchecked music. Any ideas on is there a fix or a workaround? [link] [comments]
Better PQ on a 1080p TV with ATV 4K? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 06:16 AM PDT Upgraded from a 4th gen ATV to a 4K model yesterday, after my unrealistic dream was shattered of a new model being announced yesterday :-) Not sure if it's a placebo or not, but is the 1080p output actually better? Colors seem richer, blacks blacker. I dig the snappier interface, and my big pull to purchase this was for better functionality of Apple Arcade. Works great now (although I'm only outputting at 1080p...I've read complaints about frame rate issues at 4K output) [link] [comments]
I can’t get Netflix to show Better call Saul Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:20 PM PDT For whatever reason I can't watch "Better call Saul" on Netflix using my Apple TV. I can watch it just fine using the smart tv in the living room, on my iPad as well as on my iPhone. It's stuck loading on my Apple TV. How come? [link] [comments]
Sound not outputting to receiver upon wake? Posted: 16 Apr 2020 12:17 PM PDT Long story short, I have my TV, ATV and Denon receiver all hooked up to CEC-HDMI. I can sleep all devices, that works perfectly. Upon waking (using the ATV menu button on the remote), sometimes the receiver is not detected (even though it's on), and the ATV tries to output to my TV. Turning off and on the receiver manually fixes the issue. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
