Posted: 21 Apr 2020 03:00 PM PDT 2016 macbook pro 2017 macbook pro 2020 macbook air I had a 2015 12 inch macbook but undortunately it died, the built in monitor dont give picture but when i connect external monitor i can use it just fine, and there are times when the macbook randomly freezes completely. I recently thought about replacing, should i? Is it fixable? Which macbook should i choose I personally really like the butterfly keyboard. I dont really use it for power work, but i might use it sometimes for editing and stuff. What are the pros and cons? Thank you [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Apr 2020 10:47 PM PDT About a week ago my MacBook Pro 16 started random rebooting. Upon logging in it would prompt with an error and a report that says something about CPU panic. This has happened several times. I spoke with Apple support and they had me go through everything, resetting some things by holding the power button, diagnosis, even a fresh install. Still would do the same thing. I took it in to the Apple authorized shop as instructed and they say they couldn't replicate the issue. They did a 20 point diagnosis and all seemed well for them. I now have it back, and I did another complete fresh install, set it up with my Apple ID. Haven't installed anything. And it started in again with the reboot CPU panic error. What the hell can I do now? Do I need to go to a repair place that has a 21 point diagnosis test? This is my first Mac ever, it's very expensive, and I have had it for barely 4 months. Mid-2010 MacBook Pro won’t boot: black screen and no chime Posted: 21 Apr 2020 09:37 PM PDT Hi. Yesterday my MB suddenly shut off while I was working. I've tried resetting the PRAM and SMC, starting up holding down the shift key and starting up holding down the command option control keys. Nothing. I'm guessing that the logic board is shot but how can I confirm this? If it is I'd like to order one and replace it myself. Another question: I had put in an SSD drive about 2 years ago. If the logic board is shot will my data be ok? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Trouble deciding on what macbook to buy Posted: 21 Apr 2020 09:12 PM PDT Hey guys I'm having a hard time figuring out what macbook to buy! The 2019 macbook pro 13 inch or the 2020 macbook air and possibly the 16 inch macbook pro. I'm a photo editor and have been cheesed I cant find a single review that's about graphic design or lightroom on these systems, all iv found is people talking about video editing software. Anything helps! Btw I dont mind the butterfly keys cause i have multiple friends who have had no issues with them! Thanks! [link] [comments]
Just bought base model MacBook Air Posted: 21 Apr 2020 08:33 PM PDT I went with the base model (i3, 8gb, 256gb). I don't think I'll be using it a whole lot, I just wanted something that's easy to use with my iPhone, Watch and AirPods. I'll probably just use it also for web browsing, watching videos, etc. Few questions: Is it true you can return after 14 days to Apple once the stores open again? Would this base model work with very light gaming? Such as playing Counter Strike Source? This is my first MacBook. What are some tips/advice? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Apr 2020 12:15 PM PDT If anybody is reading this and has the 2019 MacBook Pro, could you tell me how the keyboard is? Please and thanks, how long youve had and maybe some insight to how you use it. Id like to know from real users how it is compared to the 'last gen' butterfly. [link] [comments]
Will the 2020 MacBook Air be better than my current hp laptop? Posted: 21 Apr 2020 07:05 PM PDT Will the new MacBook Air work better than the HP laptop I have now? So I'm an online college student in need of a new laptop. I currently have the HP flyer red which is just a cheap $300 from Walmart. It's starting to get a bit slow and I've always wanted a MacBook so I was thinking about getting the base model MacBook Air but I'm not sure about the specs so was wanting to ask some people who knew more than I did. Here are the specs of the one I currently have. Intel Pentium N3540 processor 2.16GHz (with Max Turbo Speed of 2.66GHz) 4GB DDR3L SDRAM system memory Gives you the power to handle most power-hungry applications and tons of multimedia work 500GB SATA hard drive Store 333,000 photos, 142,000 songs or 263 hours of HD video and more 10/100Base-T Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Connect to a broadband modem with wired Ethernet or wirelessly connect to a WiFi signal or hotspot with the 802.11b/g/n connection built into your PC 15.6" HD BrightView WLED-backlit display Intel HD graphics Thanks for your help in advance! Would my wife be able to use a Macbook (shes not tech savy and use to windows) Posted: 21 Apr 2020 06:26 AM PDT Hello, my wife is in search of a new laptop. The last two she had were Windows and had problems. I thought she should try a macbook since apple products are built better but I'm not sure if she would be able to get a hang of the operating system. She is not tech savy person and I usually help her with her tech gadgets but I'm also not familiar with the operating system of a mac. Thanks [link] [comments]
Question about late 2019 16” MBP Posted: 21 Apr 2020 06:16 PM PDT My other MBP is a mid 2012 13". The keyboard on that felt amazing. I just got a new 16" MBP. Everywhere says that it has a better keyboard than the butterfly keyboard, but these keys are so thin. Will I get used to this? Is this at least a lot better than the previous years MBP's? Prospective Mechanical Engineering student looking at MacBook Pro Posted: 21 Apr 2020 05:39 PM PDT I've have plans of leaving my construction job and heading back to university for Mechanical Engineering and am looking at purchasing a 16" MacBook Pro. My current MacBook Pro is a 13" mid 2012 and with the latest update (10.15.4) it has suffered some sever issues in that Finder hangs and becomes unresponsive, as well as any application that requires accessing the Finder. I can still browse the internet, however trying to save a file/image, or opening a video in VLC causes issues. Regardless, it is time for me to upgrade anyways, I was planning on doing so in the fall, but the issues on my current MacBook have pushed up the timing of purchase. Now my thinking is to buy this laptop with the idea of holding onto it for at least the next 5 years, so with that I'm thinking of pretty much going all out on the specs. 16" MacBook Pro
All this comes to $5629CAD before taxes. Definitely pricey, but if it is something I use everyday for all these university years, then it isn't so bad. Now I'm just curious if any other engineering students, current or recently former, have any input as to whether going this far on the specs is something they wish they had or if I can lighten up a bit on some specs. Cheers [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Apr 2020 04:26 PM PDT Hi guys,my sister is looking for a macbook and we´re trying to get a "bang for the buck" version (Not spending so much money and getting a good performance). She mostly will use it for browsing on the internet and run some light-medium programs.I´ll apreciate all your suggestions. You know if will be easier to transfer photos from her Iphone to a macbook rather than a "normal windows notebook"? .That´s basically the main reason for buying it.We had a tons of problems to do this on a notebook with Windows 10. Sorry for my english,It´s not my native language. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Apr 2020 08:52 AM PDT I think I accidently downloaded some sort of virus onto my macbook. It will cause my safari to close and then a tab with the safari preferences will open on the extensions tab. (I don't have any extensions downloaded) when it opens it shows that I have one which I uninstall and move from my applications folder to the bin and latter delete the contents of the bin. However this happens again after a couple hours. While everything is working I fine I checked to see if i had any extensions or apps on my mac but there arent any. The extensions that keeps popping up has the same icon but the name is different almost every time. Any way I can remove this from my mac for good? (the picture is what it looked like the last time it popped up) [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Apr 2020 12:08 PM PDT I'm asking because there's a lot of applications I like to use that require 10.2 or later and I'm stuck by not being able to use them. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Apr 2020 03:52 PM PDT I recently acquired a new (to me) 2015 MBP and transferred all of my data from my older MBP onto the newer machine using a Time Machine backup. It's terrific and everything is there but when I try to run Word (Office:mac) it asks me to enter my purchased product key. Can anyone please tell me where I can find this on my old machine? Posted: 21 Apr 2020 03:41 PM PDT I have the option to get a base model MacBook Air 2020 for $900 with AppleCare from swappa. Is it a good deal? Does AppleCare need to be transferred? How does that work? [link] [comments]
Does anyone use an iPad as an external monitor instead of an actual external monitor? Posted: 21 Apr 2020 03:26 PM PDT I'm looking at the possibility of just using my MacBook Pro and an iPad as an external monitor instead of my current setup. Currently, I have my Mac hooked up to a 24" monitor, but I realize that I could be a bit more minimal with hopefully close to the same level of productivity using a MacBook + iPad since I already have both. Can someone who is using this setup chime in on how it's working? Or if you're not using it, why do you prefer a monitor setup over it? Looking for some evaluations before I try making a desk setup change. Thanks! [link] [comments]
