    Macbook crashing when headphone plugged in?

    Hey guys. I'm on a 13 inch Macbook Pro (early 2015) still running High Sierra and have noticed something odd. When my headphones are plugged in and there's a tiny bump, the sound cuts out and the 'headphones' output disappears from the volume icon.

    That's been fine - but now I've noticed if it is bumped a couple of times in a 5 second interval, the entire system hard-crashes to the black screen of death.

    Anyone got any idea what's going on? Hardware? I've tested the computer by tapping near the headphone port when nothing is plugged in - nothing happens. As soon as the headphones go in and I do the same, it crashes pretty quickly.

    Nearly-Base MBP 16" for Premiere & AE

    Hi, I'm interested in buying a MacBook Pro 16" and maybe upgrade the GPU to an 8GB 5500M, I'm currently using a PC and I'm interested in getting a Mac, will a system with those specs be enough for 4K Editing on Premiere and using After Effects, should I upgrade something else instead in this price range? (I don't want to get the price any higher than 2800$)

    2019 MacBook Pro portable SSD issues

    today my LaCie 2tb SSD stopped connecting to my MacBook.

    neither device has been dropped or damaged in anyway, and I've tried multiple cables. I haven't tried the drive on another device because I unfortunately don't own one, and I don't own another SSD. I have however reset my MacBook and that did nothing.

    any suggestions?

    MacBook Air- 2017

    hiiii reddit,

    my macbook's keys don't appear to be broken but they won't snap back on. it started with the A, then I removed the 2 to see if the A was broken and now that won't snap on. I've watched gazillions of videos and the butterfly seems to be fine, but when all the videos say to just lay it on top and snap it back, it won't. Any ideas??

    HELP! Can't map my Logitech MK270 keyboard to my macbook pro laptop. Copy & paste doesn't work.

    Hey guys,

    I don't know if this is the right sub, but I really need help and I'm desperate. Google isn't being any help right now. I've tried everything. I went in to modify the keys in my system preferences, but nothing. Is it even possible? Apparently I have been able to copy, but I haven't been able to paste anything. I want to use ALT+C keys to copy and and ALT+V keys to paste. I can't even paste on this keyboard with normal Windows keys. Below is a picture of my settings in my "Modifier keys" preferences. I am doing what every blog is telling me to do, but nothing is working. I'm so frustrated haha.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thoughts on upgrading to MBA 2020?

    I have an Early 2015 MB Pro 13 inch i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD. Will I see any performance differences/ speed boost by upgrading to the new MB Air 2020 i5, 8GB and 256GB SSD?

    I mostly do: productivity, adobe PS and Illustrator, web surfing

    Is it worth an upgrade? Im thinking to sell my existing MBP... Thx.

    The fan started going really quick on my 2017 mba earlier, then after it slowed down I get these blue line on my screen every time I play a video but they go away when I pause it. Does anybody know what is wrong ?

    Hi I have a very old white MacBook Osx and my favorite game at minimum requires OS X 10.9 Mavericks, or the newest macOS 10.14 Mojave. I have not yet tried any OS updates because I'm scared to mess it up and I'm hoping mine is not too old and will be cappatable with updates at all.     Macbook Speed issue

    I have a 2009 white macbook. I opened it in order to add ram, however I bought the wrong one. Ever since I opened it , it runs extremely slow. Everything I click on causes the wheel of death to start spinning. It take about 5 minutes to open a browser. Is there something I can do to fix this? Or should I not waste my time on replacing the ram?

    Brand new 2020 MBA, 3 crashes in an hour.

    So this is my first mac and it seems very unreliable. I cant even play spotify and an arcade game at the same time. "Doomsday vault" now just crashes even by itself.

    Is this game broken or am I doing something wrong here

    Chrome vs other browsers

    I spent the last week testing other browsers and I've yet to find a reason to switch off of chrome.

     

    Safari: Noticed it keeps mac a bit cooler. Battery life was a little bit better (Chrome is like 5-10 minutes per 1%, Safari is not much better). Extension support is lacking. I had to pay for an adblocker and even then it didn't block everything. I had to pay for tamper monkey to get BTTV to work. Safari has a weird font on some sites like twitter. Some sites struggled and were choppy like Politico when looking at primary results.

     

    Firefox: Wow how do people say this browser uses less system resources than Chrome? A twitch stream on 1080p60 on Chrome used about 30-40% CPU with 4.4/8 GB ram usage. The same stream used 60-70% with 5.2/8 GB ram usage on Firefox with the same extensions. Not to mention the interface for FF that looks like it's from 2010. Scrolling also felt odd.

    Is there a purpose for the fact that a Macbook display can be put completely off at lowest end

    I have heard people replacing harddrives, etc. because their Mac wouldn't turn on... but it was all because of the screen brightness being set to the lowest end.

    What is the purpose of being able to set the brightness so that the display is off??

    MacBook lagging problem (still not solved)

    Hi,

    Here I am, again. I've tried to reach out to Apple about the issue last summer but they didn't know what was up. I've tried to look at the problem, and try to accept that I have a system fault MacBook, but it's simply getting more and more annoying every day and it's pissing me off. How do they even dare to ask a price of 2400 for a MacBook that can't even run properly.

    Here is the issue I am talking about:

    My MacBook (15-inch, 2016; 2,7 Intel Core i7; 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3; Radeon Pro 455 2 GB, Intel HD Graphics 530 1536 MB) can lag or framedrop out of nowhere. Even when I have only Spotify running, it can lag and being unable to use. How I 100% know that it's not the plug-in in (for example) my music DAW or Photoshop who's having a bad day, I notice that my whole system gets fucked up. My dock gets really slow. When I hover my mouse over from the left to the right it takes 3 seconds for the Mac to notice. It also "framedrops" with the sound, it just flickers on and off.

    This problem is happening since the start. I bought this MacBook in November 2017. It's not that I'd say the easy way "yeah, my MacBook is 3+ years old, that's why it's performance is like this". My 2012 MacBook runs perfectly.

    Here are some examples of how I can force the issue to pop up (9/10 times, sometimes I am lucky and it doesn't do the error for a whole day!):

    • Randomly when I make music in Ableton (even though no big plug-ins or samples are loaded)
    • If I open OBS (the streaming program) and try to even set it up (not even broadcasting)
    • Out of nowhere when I play (old school) RuneScape or League of Legends (framedrop to 3-7 fps, making the games unplayable)
    • When Time Machine is syncing

    I don't believe that I am the only person in this world with this kind of unsolved problem. It really pisses me off that Apple is acting like they don't know what is going on. I have also googled and youtubed my ass off, but no similar issues with help were found. I've tried factory reset and installed a fresh new Mac OS: didn't work.

    Please, PLEASE, anyone tell me what is going on and how I fix this.
