- Best way of getting photos from my old iPhone to my MBP without using Photos app, Image Captutre, or iCloud
- Phone vibrates now when doing things like swiping up to open task twitcher or clicking sliders, and it’s a different vibrate from what I had before. Can’t find where to turn it off.
- Left speaker louder than right speaker on iPad Air 3 (Need Help)
- Can't close apps on iPad 7 by dragging mouse pointer unless I activate AssistiveTouch. Wants me to use the scroll wheel instead, but it's rather unintuitive. Connected via wired mouse. I would just keep AssistiveTouch on, but that little square bothers me wherever I put it. Am I out of luck?
- My iPhone compressed photos that are no longer stored on my iCloud, so I can't seem to get the full resolution back. Is there a fix?
- I want to use my iMac as an external display for my work Dell laptop. I bought this cord and these are my iMac specs. Is it possible? I tried to search but only found info for newer Macs. Thanks in advance!

| Posted: 19 Apr 2020 11:57 AM PDT Hey all. Like I said in the title, I just ordered the new iPhone SE, and I'm very excited to finally join the rest of the world in having a modern device. The closest thing I have is an old iPod touch which has been cool, but not really on par with where everyone else is at. I plan on taking very good care of this device and having it for a while, so I'd like to get some decent accessories to go along with it. I'm wondering about the quality of the leather cases. They seem kind of fancy which I appreciate, but I don't know how they'd deal with drops. I like the style of a leather case, but am considering some military grade case for safety. Can I collect some opinions here? Also, this new SE is the size of an iPhone 8, right? So if I were to look for cases, I could look for ones that fit the 8, to maybe not get price gouged? Second question - The phone has fast charging, but it doesn't come with a cable that DOES fast charging. From what I've read it seem the phone comes with something that 5w, and I can purchase a charger that's 18w for the fast charge. Is this correct? Is there anything I should know regarding the 18w fast chargers. I think the ones on amazon say usb c, and I don't know what that means. Would that be the one to get? Third, it says the phone also has something called wireless charging. I don't really know what this is but I hate wires, so I'm probably gonna get one. I've seen things that look like little circular pads that you simply place your phone on and it charges, and I've seen others that look like the phone is docked, which I have no interest in. What do you guys think of the one that you simply lay the phone on? Is it helpful? Does it work well? Any other thoughts or recommendations? | 2019 Macbook Air Catalina Update Posted: 19 Apr 2020 09:01 AM PDT Preface: I'm computer savvy, but on the Windows side, not Mac savvy at all My girlfriend has a 2019 Macbook Air that she was using today. It prompted her to update to Catalina, which she did. I'm assuming the update did what it was supposed to do, but now her Macbook Air won't boot. It's acting as if it's completely dead. She's been texting with Apple since it's covered under Apple Care, but their steps (resetting the SMC, trying to boot into recovery, etc) to no avail. Are there any other tricks we can try to get this thing up and running? I didn't see anything else online after googling the issue, so I figured reddit is the next logical step just to see if there's any other options. Not asking for help, but sharing my experience. After getting a new iPhone, I wanted to archive my old photos and save them on a hard drive. So I connected my new iPhone to iCloud, and then realised that I can't connect my old iPhone to iCloud because then it would sync and I would have all the photos that I want to archive on my new iPhone. Importing them via the Photos app seemed to only import them to my current Cloud storage (not just as files on my computer). After trying and failing to connect my iPhone to my Linux machine using iFuse and shotwell, I had a look at other applications. Image Capture (builtin on all apple computers) wasn't working: it was showing maybe 8 images and they were all corrupted (I have just shy of 14,000 images to archive). Finally, I found an application called AnyTrans. It's free to download but transferring large quantities of files requires the paid application. AnyTrans has worked super well for me, and I managed to archive without much hassle. The most hassle was actually finding these applications (hence, I am here relaying what I have found :) ). During my search I also found similar-looking applications which are notable: iMyFone TunesMate; WALTR 2; and SynciOS Data Recovery. Hope this helps someone in the future! [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 19 Apr 2020 10:10 PM PDT XS Max, current iOS, haven't changed any audio or accessibility settings on purpose. So here the thing. I've had my phone on silent and vibrate only for years, spanning multiple models. I haven't changed anything related to sound or vibrate in I can't remember how long, and haven't done any updates recently. I had a fever the other night and fell asleep on my phone, when I woke up my phone started vibrating louder and more frequently, like whenever I do things like 3D Touch, toggling system sliders, actions within various apps, or activating the flashlight. It happens with silent mode on or off. It vibrated for some of these before, but somehow the vibrate changed to this stronger louder version that I can't disable, even with the below toggled: It's like there's an assistive vibrate thing going on but I can't find anything on this for the life of me. It's like in Windows when you hold down the space at for too long and it turns on sticky keys. I don't know how to describe it other than it's vibrating differently now, but more intensely, with a different pattern than I'm used to (2 quick taps), and I can't change it back or turn it off. | Left speaker louder than right speaker on iPad Air 3 (Need Help) Posted: 19 Apr 2020 09:37 PM PDT I just bought a new iPad Air 3 in February on Amazon and I really liked it for the most part then a few days or weeks later I noticed that the left speaker seems to be louder than the right speaker and I could tell very well maybe because of my OCD. I tried putting my hand over each speaker to see if there's a difference but the left speaker was still louder. I remember one time I was using my iPad and I was drinking a water and my fingers were wet and I accidentally touched one of the speakers and I think that's when it all happened. I'm outside of the 30 day return period now and I don't know what to do. What should I do? I was thinking of maybe looking into the warranty or getting AppleCare+. [link] [comments]  |

Unfortunately the hard drive was corrupted, so I go to re-transfer the photos to my laptop again from my old phone, but upon inspection, the 14k photos I had have all been compressed by the default "Optimize iPhone Storage" option, and as they are no longer connected to iCloud, I haven't found a way to get them back. Have I lost high resolution versions of all of those photos? I appreciate any help, as those photos were photos from a 5-year period of my life... [link] [comments]  |

I had one a few weeks ago that was connecting to "Sarah's Google Cast." I clicked "Forgot Device" in Spotify to only allow it to connect to my devices. On Saturday I was driving on the freeway and my Spotify kept trying to connect to "Gael's Wireless Speaker" I figured it was someone driving alongside me but It kept interfering with my music and my music was connected to this person speaker and that was around 20+ miles. Weird AF! I tried to play music just now and I am getting the same issue again. I reset my network settings, I updated my device, I unplugged my google home hub, and my Samsung wireless speaker and still having this issue. It is kind of creepy has anyone come across this? How did you fix it? Should I be worried that someone has hacked me? I did get a request to allow access to my google home last week but I denied it. Neither of the above wireless devices is connected to my Bluetooth. I am stumped. I also don't know a Gael just in case. [link] [comments]  |

(*Error message below) Hardware: - Late 2015 5k 27" iMac (EMC: 2834) - Feather M13-S 1TB SSD Troubleshooting: - Disabled Put hard disks to sleep wen possible, Enable Power Nap in Energy Saver settings. - Booting into safe mode still causes issue - Reset NVRAM & SMC - Ran First Aid in Disk Utility in Internet Recovery Mode (Passed) - Ran Apple Diagnostics. Got an SSD error: VDH002 "There may be an issue with a storage device. " But it does run fine. super fast. Extra Info: - My current BootROM installed is: 176.0.0.0.0 - FYI, I ran an SSD speed test and got: 1550MB/s write 1900MB/s read Which is much greater than advertised speeds lol. - I ended up reinstalling MacOS via Internet Recovery and still get the same issue. - All 4 motherboard diagnostic LEDs turn on. - The iMac version came with a "Fusion drive" which is just a 1TB HDD and a 32GB blade SSD. After installing the SSD, I left the SATA cable installed on the motherboard. Pretty sure something that simple wouldn't cause the kernel panic but just FYI. Unless maybe it just thinks it also has to boot up a HDD while waking from sleep and can't and just doesn't know what to do? - I did accidentally rub a capacitor lead on the power board with my finger super super lightly. I'm assuming it's fine as the motherboard's diag LED is on indicating it's working. Questions: If I brought this in to Apple to fix would they offer to fix it? I did command+r and went into disk utility to erase my data of "Macintosh HD". Then I tried to "reinstall MacOS" and it tells me "could-not-create-preboot-voume-apfs-install". I tried to Google and they said to change the type on disk to "MacOS Extended", but I only have apfs as options. How can I download macOS and be able to use the computer again? [link] [comments]  |

Anyway, the preferences in mail is either to long left to right or in the case of the signature tab it's to long up and down, without any way for me to see the bottom. | Does an iMac MMQA2LL/A in 27" size exist? Posted: 19 Apr 2020 07:24 PM PDT I'm in the market for an iMac for my girlfriend, just looking for a 27" that will function for normal day-to-day use. I ran across a refurbished model (MMQA2LL/A) that seems too cheap for what it is, and in my research it seems like the MMQA2LL/A model only comes in a 21.5" size. There's like 3 different websites that have a listing for that model in a 27" size, though, so I'm pretty lost. Hopefully this isn't the wrong sub for this, but any help would be great! I've looked through everything in /var/log and can't find any executions. 2) I have a crontab set to execute at '5 11 * * 7' but nothing happened. The shell script is executable and runs fine by manual intervention. I suspect it's because the computer was asleep at that time. | Storage and deletion issues with 2020 MacBook Air Posted: 19 Apr 2020 06:19 PM PDT Hi guys, Not sure if this is the right sub for this. But I just got the new MacBook Air and I used time machine to export the contents from my old MacBook onto it. Now I am trying to manually delete the files I don't need to free up space since I only had like 20 GB left, but I deleted 30 GBs worth of data ( a lot of old iPhone backups, videos, photos) and the total available space DECREASED by 1 GB.
