    Working from home, and wifi is out.I don't think I'm getting that fixed any time soon. So is it a Good Idea, to use iPhone as a personal hotspot everyday ? Does it impact battery health or do any damage to my device ? I have a mac, is it better to connect it via USB and use it, or wifi ?

    Delete characters in front of the cursor? (Macbook Pro w/strip)

    I got the new MacBook pro with the strip. Before, there used to be 2 buttons, backspace, then delete. The backspace deletes the characters before the cursor. The delete button deletes the characters after the cursor.

    Now, what is the equivalent of this for the new MacBooks that have the strip?

    Why am I getting kernel panics all of a sudden?

    I've been using a second display with my macbook air for a couple months without any issues. Over the past three days I've been hit with several kernel panic restarts and it appears to be an issue with the monitor because I disconnected the display from my macbook and boom kernel panic. What gives?

    Front facing flash lasts long to end

    Recently my front facing flash takes like 2 or 3 seconds to end the flash. It happens on any camera app, it just stays on flash for a coupple seconds then takes the pic

    Direct USB-C from MB to monitor not functioning

    Hi all, first time posting here. Bit of a mystery on my hands, hope my description is clear…

    Devices in question/tested:

    2017 Macbook running 10.15.4

    2018 Macbook Air running 10.15.4

    ViewSonic VG2455 monitor (X 2)

    Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) Cable

    Anker Powerline II USB-C to USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 Cable

    Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter

    Issue at hand:

    Regardless of which laptop I use, I cannot get the direct USB-C connection to work properly between laptop and monitor. The monitor will provide power to the laptop, but will not display video ("No Signal Found") and the laptop will not detect any USB-A devices (webcam, ethernet adapter, and external hard drive) that are connected to the monitor.

    Interestingly, no problem using the Apple USB-C AV Multiport Adapter with the monitor (i.e., the adapter breaks out to HDMI, USB-A, and USB-C AC power). I get video displayed and the USB-A devices that are connected to the monitor get recognized.

    I've replaced the monitor, and the replacement gives me the same result.

    I've tried both Apple and Anker USB-C cables.

    I've performed SMC and PRAM resets on both laptops.

    I've run a Apple Diagnostic on both laptops, and results were clean.

    I've performed a clean install of 10.15.4 (on the Macbook Air).

    I've called ViewSonic support, they were stumped and suggested I call Apple.

    I've called Apple, but the support person was useless (wasn't clear she knew what USB-C was).

    Hey Siri...........the world is ending?

    So I asked Siri "Hey Siri, how long until 2020 ends?" The programs response was "It's 22 hours until then. (I'm in CST) slightly concerning. What does the system think I'm asking and where is it getting that answer from? Or are we all doomed lol.

    How inadvisable is it to pry open the bottom of my MacBook air to get past three stripped screws?

    I know this is a stupid question, I'm sorry. I have a 2011 MacBook Air with three pentalobe screws (back and either side) that are stripped. I have tried super glue, the trick where you stretch a rubber band over it and use that like the super glue, and trying to find a small enough flathead screwdriver to no avail.

    I don't have a drill. Is it a ridiculous idea to just force up the screws by prying the bottom off as carefully as possible?

    Hi everyone,

    Every time I open the Notes app now, I get the error "NSSQLiteErrorDomain error 11" as seen below. A second later the app crashes and I get a "Notes quit unexpectedly" pop-up. I'm on the newest Catalina 10.15.4.

    Has this bug happened to anyone else before? I reported this to apple but they said they have no reports of this- been happening on and off since i got my laptop 3 years ago (brand new mac book pro 2017)

    MacBook Pro won’t load into profile

    My MacBook Pro from around 2010-2011 Will not load into my profile after I enter in my password. I "dropped" it. ( about 2 inches. The front was on the ground. Back was up maybe two inches.)

    It made a wierd buzzing sound. And froze. Cut it off and now can't load into profile. It loads about halfway then turns OFF.

    Brand new Apple TV won’t stay connected to WiFi

    Hi ok so I'm not super tech-y and I need some help. I got a brand new Apple TV for my birthday in February. It is the newest model (A1625 is what it says in the about section). No matter what I do it will not stay connected to my WiFi. Almost every time I turn it on I have to restart it to have it connect to WiFi. If it loses connection and I go to Network in settings there are no WiFi networks available to choose from. Including the ones that would normally show up from neighbors and such. How can I get my Apple TV to stay connected to the internet? Or at least pull up WiFi networks for me to select from when it disconnects without me having to restart it every day. Note my other tech stays connected in the room that it is in. I never have issues with my computer or phone. However my PlayStation 4 also has trouble staying connected to the internet and they are in the same room - the problem with the Apple TV started before I got the ps4

    Please help me. 😭

    Apple ID and Device Password Problems

    I 'm not sure if this falls under the category of bypassing the activation lock, which it might, but anyways this is one of my last shots before having to wait for months to take this to a tech store to figure out.

    Anyways, my dad bought an new iPad about 2 years ago. It has the latest version of iOS currently. He has forgotten his Apple ID password and his device passcode as well. I've tried using iTunes to wipe the iPad but it didn't really work(I might have done something wrong?). I've waited for Apple Support to recover his account, however the link they sent me took me through the exact same steps that led me to letting Apple do it themselves. I'm not sure what to do at this point and I don't want to keep trying digging this hole without knowing what I'm doing. If anyone knows a trick or the actual method to getting one or both the Apple ID password and Device passcode back, I would be very grateful. Thanks

    Also sorry if this breaks rules, I know some subs don't like password related questions.

    Edit: if there is a way to completely wipe the iPad and disassociate the iPad from the Apple ID, I would like to know that.

    Internet Recovery Unable to Install macOS

    I really hope I did not bust my machine up.

    I recently purchased a MacBook 12" 2017. As soon as I got it, I factory reseted it. The laptop randomly turned off during the process of installation. I turned it back on, and it continued with the installation. Once it finished, I began to download the programs I needed from the App Store. The download speed of the applications were 0.1MB/sec. I have noticed software issues whenever installation of the OS does not go as smoothly as it should. And once it is reinstalled, everything goes back to normal. So my first instinct was to re-re-install the OS, that maybe it did not install properly.

    I go into Recovery Mode, erase the driver, and move on to reinstall the OS. The computer was not allowing me to proceed into selecting the driver and OS. Therefore, I restart the computer and it automatically goes into Internet Recovery Mode. It does not process and after a while an exclamation mark appears in front of the globe.

    I do not expect for you to fix my problem... If you can, awesome! But all I want to hear is whether or not I am completely fucked.

    What the HECK is this and WHY is it doing the THING

    Hey guys!

    A few months ago I accidentally -and without realizing until after- that I relocated the population location of these files (see pic). Initially I was going to the main location of my iMessages and clearing them after I stopped using iMessage on my laptop and somehow I misclicked something totally irrelevant (no idea what) and ended up fudging it. Thing is, I dont even know what the purpose of these files is. I dont know where the original location is and I dont know how to put them back.

    Weird thing is, they dont have a specific name, they just populate with a random letter and number sometimes one or the other or both. Even more annoying is the fact that when you open the files, they have a text file within it that cannot be opened. Sometimes theres nothing. When mass deleting them and emptying the trash can, the trash can shows that over a thousand files are being deleted which is weird because usually theres about 50 or so of these folders that Ive actually deleted.

    I should note that it doesnt seem like its affected the functionality of my laptop at ALL. If anything it actually takes up space and is forcing me to now deal with it since I keep getting a popup to clear space on my laptop now.

    ANY IDEAS?!?

    Question about AirPod Warranty

    I know you guys mainly help with actual issues with devices, but this is the only place I found where I could ask any question about Apple.

    For lack of a better word, my AirPods are quite literally, garbage. The battery of the case only lasts me around two days, they cut in and out frequently, and pause randomly. I bought them in June of 2019, which means the warranty will be running out in around a month and a half. I will need to replace them since this clearly isn't normal (and if it is, I wouldn't be surprised 🙄).

    Since the Apple stores are obviously closed (and I assume they'll probably be closed until after my warranty expires), does anyone know what Apple is doing with warranty programs? Will my warranty be extended for the amount of time lost while the stores are closed? I'm aware I can send them in for repair, but I don't trust them whatsoever with diagnosing my airpods & I don't know who's going to be touching them.

    I guess I should also mention that they are the second version of the first release (but without the wireless charging capabilities).

    Hey all, So my iPhone keeps connecting to a mystery Bluetooth signal and the option to forget it is not next to it. It connects when I am out driving, dropping my single from the car which uses a phone key so that has been really annoying, as well as when I am sitting at home. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Graphical glitches on 08 MacBook

    IDK if this subreddit would be the best place to put this question, but I have a MacBook that can only run 10.7.5 at the newest. I'm trying to run Minecraft on it and ended up having to download a jar launcher that launches the game through there to avoid the normal launcher saying my version isn't supported. the game seems to launch fine but immediately has these graphical glitches. would that more than likely be how old the hardware is not working well with the software or the graphics chip starting to go?
