Bought a MacBook Air 2020 and it seems to be worse than my early 2015 MacBook Air Posted: 04 Apr 2020 11:59 AM PDT The camera quality is even worse than my previous MacBook Air and the fan is super loud when I ran an application that ran fine on my previous MacBook Air. What's going on? [link] [comments] |

Somebody answered my dad’s facetime, mom confirmed he never received it. Posted: 04 Apr 2020 05:38 PM PDT So I facetimed my dad today and somebody answered the ft and hung up real quick. It wasn't him. I called my mom and she was with him and confirmed he didn't receive a facetime. I double checked his contact info and it was 100% the correct number, as he called me later in that day and the same contact appeared. What could it be? Could somebody else have access to his facetime? [link] [comments] |
ZOOM security issues are scaring me. Please help! Posted: 04 Apr 2020 07:46 PM PDT Hello everyone! My class's at school are online now and because of this most of them are using ZOOM the video conferencing app. Because of the recent issues in security, I have grown stressed thinking about the possibility of someone installing malware, spyware or messing with my webcam and microphone. What are some steps I can take to uninstall ZOOM and check my computer? I know next to nothing about cyber security but I was looking at BitDefender and it looked good. Even if I uninstall ZOOM is my computer still vulnerable? [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to make an image the app folder icon on iphone? Posted: 04 Apr 2020 10:49 PM PDT I sort my apps by colour and would just like a picture of - for example - just a red block as the image for the folder as opposed to all the little app images. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2020 10:33 PM PDT iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 13.4 So I know in my last post I made myself look like a complete idiot/maniac but stay with me here. Link to last post: https://www.reddit.com/r/applehelp/comments/ft3agn/possibly_hacked_or_other_issue_please_help/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf I've never had any issues with my iPad, ive had it for almost three years now. ive left it charging by accident for 3 days (lost it under my bed), had it on for weeks on end, still haven't turned it off, and I've dropped it multiple times. No issues whatsoever. Now when I received my new iPhone from apple care, things were fine and dandy. Then coincidentally when I log into my apple account, I start receiving notifications on my iPad (I have two factor) that my account was attempted to be logged into from China, Canada, Netherlands, you name it. Odd, so I change my password. Fast forward two weeks and next is my Ubisoft account. Thank god for their real time login tracker as I see from Vietnam, Hong Kong, China. I immediately turn on tow factor. At this point I start turning g on two factor on all of my accounts everywhere and get notifications for logging attempts. Fast forward even more to a week and a half ago, the issue I stated in my other post started(screen fades to black after a few minutes of use with no apps running in the background and then does a cycle of me having to force restart the phone, restarts, shuts off, force restart, shuts offf, force restart, works for a few minutes, etc. I factory resettled my phone and then it fixed the issue until today. I downloaded zoom as I needed it for a meeting and then the same thing happened. I don't know what is up and AppleCare won't replace my phone as I already used it to get this one. Once this Coronavirus thing slows down and we can return to stores, I'm going to immediately bring it in and see what they can tell/do. Please assist in any way you can [link] [comments] |
iPad Air 2 - No webpages in any app will load properly Posted: 04 Apr 2020 10:23 PM PDT Hi All, I'm at the end of my tether with an issue with my mums iPad. After updating to ios 13.3, the iPad will not load any webpage correctly in any app. I've tried every different browser I can think of, and a full restore of the iPad manually using the correct .ipsw The apple store tried to tell me it was an 'unknown' fault with the display, which is nonsense as everything else works including watching youtube videosin the app, and playing games, so I can't see how it could be an onboard graphics problem either. Here is a screenshot of the issue (further proving it must be a software problem rather than a display issue) https://imgur.com/a/DMnEu3C Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I'd be very appreciative. Thanks for reading. [link] [comments] |
This is the weirdest issue I’ve seen in a while Posted: 04 Apr 2020 10:20 PM PDT So I have this iPad presenting an issue with any kind of image, but nothing else. For example: On the Springboard, the background image has lots of color distortion. At the same time however, all the icons appear fine, and the scroll animation makes them move crisply. The text and line from the menu bar is fine. My gut reaction was ok well obviously you chose a screwed up image for your springboard background there's nothing wrong with the screen. But then... You open up safari to a website that contains both text and images. You can scroll anywhere on the screen and the text always appears totally fine, but every photo is distorted in the same characteristic way. What is going on here?? Will follow up with photo of what i mean. (EDIT UPDATE) [link] [comments] |
My iPod’s alarm clock won’t go off anymore and I don’t know why? Posted: 04 Apr 2020 09:42 PM PDT So I have an old iPod like 2012 edition not sure exactly but I recently started using it again as an alarm clock so I can set it across the room to wake me up and I can still use my phone in bed. It worked fine the first time but then two days in a row now I set the clock and it didn't go off. I even did a test and set it for like two minutes after what time it is now and it didn't go off then either. I also turned it off and back on and didn't make any difference. Help!? MacBook Pro won’t run at 60hz with a TV. Posted: 04 Apr 2020 09:36 PM PDT I have 43 inch Visio tv, it's capable of running at 2160P at 60hz, because I can achieve this with my PS4/Apple TV, Etc. I know my 2019, 16 inch MacBook Pro can support at least 2160P @ 60hz because Ive used it with a widescreen monitor as well, and it works fine. In fact I'm even using the same USB-C Digital AV Adapter So how do I get my TV to except a 4k @ 60hz signal from the same MacBook Pro that handles the widescreen monitor like a champ? Again using the same USB-C Digital AV Adapter [link] [comments] |
Should I get the iPhone xs or xr if they are the same price in 2020? Posted: 04 Apr 2020 12:20 PM PDT Hey all! So looking at upgrading to an iPhone from my galaxy s7, and am sort of stuck between the iPhone xr and xs. Basically the issue is John Lewis are selling them both for the exact same price at £629, so surely it makes sense to get the iPhone xs right? But at the same time I hear a lot of people saying online that the battery isn't all that great? Which I guess is kinda one of my biggest concerns. A better camera on the xs on the other hand also sounds good? Any thoughts woulddd be appreciated, Thanks guys :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:37 PM PDT This problem is kinda confusing, but I will try my best to explain. I have a 2017 MacBook Air, the one with the aluminum bezels. The problem is sometimes when I go into full screen, on YouTube or Netflix mostly, the trackpad doesn't work. I can click it but nothing happens. When I escape out of it, the bar on the top with the website name will open up like you clicked on it for a second and go away. It's super frustrating. I am on macOS Catalina, but this problem has been occurring since I got this laptop in June of 2019. My sister has the same laptop and says thats never happened to her. Do I have a faulty device, or has someone else experienced this? [link] [comments] |
Can’t get phone number off phone Posted: 04 Apr 2020 08:29 PM PDT I got a used phone (IPhone 8 plus) from someone for my grandma and full reset the phone, got her an Apple ID and all that. But there's a phone number connected to it, it's not ours, it's the former phone owner's. We can't figure out how to disconnect it, we're planning on either just having her text through an iCloud account or getting her a phone number, but either way we need to get the old phone number off. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
How to take a screenshot of one screen only Posted: 04 Apr 2020 04:25 PM PDT Hi, I have 2 screens set up on my iMac and everytime I take a screenshot it takes one of both screens. Is there a way to take a screenshot of only 1 display? Or is there a terminal command that can do it? Thanks [link] [comments] |
MacBook Mini and MacBook Pro (2012) Second Screen Help? Posted: 04 Apr 2020 07:55 PM PDT Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question, I am so bad with this stuff. I have a 2012 Mac Mini (full set up with monitor, keyboard etc) and a 2012 MacBook Pro. Am I able to make my MacBook Pro into a second monitor to use with the Mac Mini? Or would my best bet be to make my monitor a second screen for my MacBook? I would prefer to make my MacBook the second screen because the Mini runs quite a bit faster. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Apr 2020 07:40 PM PDT I know I'm a massive idiot for this, but yesterday I spilled about half a cup of water onto my 2018 13" Macbook Pro without touchbar. Most of the water went over the keys but a some went towards the back. The screen turned off immediately, what could that mean? Most similar stories I heard involve having to manually power the machine down. I used paper towels to wipe up as much water as I could see, then left it in the tent position with a fan for about 8 hours, then another 24 hours using the crate position (http://cdn.osxdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/save-macbook-water-damage.jpg). It's still in the crate position currently. Looking for any advice to calm my nerves, how long before I should try powering it up, any other suggestions, etc. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
2010 MBP slow booting/running after SMC / PRAM reset Posted: 04 Apr 2020 03:31 PM PDT With an increased amount of free-time, I decided to do some work on my 2010 Unibody MacBook Pro, running High Sierra, which was running well until I did what I describe below. I removed the logic board in order to remove a significant amount of dust and buildup. I took care to ensure I reconnected everything correctly. When I tried to boot it, it would not boot and beeped repeatedly (which indicates there was a RAM issue). So, I reinserted the RAM, making sure it was aligned properly. It booted normally this time, but the fan was at full blast right from booting it up. This prompted me to reset the SMC. I tried booting again, but this time, the fan was still at full speed and the boot process took significantly longer. I then reset the PRAM, but this appears to not have done much. I'm at a dead-end. What should I do? Edit: I tried disconnecting and reconnecting all the components, and that seemed to solve my issue. Go figure. [link] [comments] |
Going PCless and wondering how to backup non-Apple music Posted: 04 Apr 2020 06:41 PM PDT Since I've gotten my iPad Pro 2018 12.9", USB-C hub, and mouse/keyboard, my windows laptop is just a stand for my iPad to sit on (it's a nice height). I'm trying to figure out if I can stop using iTunes to do backup on my iPad and iPhone. I'm pretty close to just biting the bullet and paying for extra space on iCloud so that I can backup to the cloud. The only issue that I've found is that I have about 25GB of music on my iPhone. All of it is non-Apple music. Mostly, it's ripped from CDs, but some of it is purchased through Amazon Music. I'd really rather not buy a music service (like Apple Music or Match), just to backup my music. What I've come up with is that I'd use iCloud to backup almost everything else, and, occasionally, use iTunes to backup music (since that doesn't change very often). Anyone have a better idea or suggestion? [link] [comments] |
Does the new MacBook Pro 16" overheats? Posted: 04 Apr 2020 11:02 AM PDT I have been using the MBP 2018 model and it tends to overheats even while watching YouTube videos, which is quite frustrating as the video playback gets jerky and pauses entirely after a moment. I use my Macbook to edit videos mainly on Premiere Pro and because of this overheating issue, work efficiency is declining as I have to wait for the machine to cool down. So I have been thinking of upgrading to the new 16 inch model and wanted to get its review from the video editors or the people who use it for heavy tasks. Please let me know if the newer version is worth the upgrade. [link] [comments] |

Weird SD card reading issue after installing windows via bootcamp Posted: 04 Apr 2020 06:27 PM PDT I have a couple SD cards that were completely fine, but after installing windows on my imac partition, when trying to access the SD cards on mac partition it says "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer". When I try to access it via windows partition it doesn't even show up lol. The only way to successfully access it now is booting up in windows, then restarting and booting up in mac, then it manages to read it fine. Anyone else experience this before? [link] [comments] |
