Got a MBP in 2017 and shelfed the MBA. My cousin's laptop broke down so I suggested using my "old MBA" untill he got it replaced. I doubted if it would still work, booted the MBA in internet recovery mode and 45 minutes later it's running Catalina looking as fresh as ever, snappy response and oh boy, the keyboard is just golden! | Advice on buying used MBA 2015 Posted: 04 Apr 2020 09:48 PM PDT Found someone nearby my house selling a 2015 13 inch MBA i5, 1.4GHz, 4GB, 128 Gb SSD online...It's in great condition on the outside, looks barely used. He sent me a picture of the battery health and it has 350 charge cycles. I checked out the serial number as well. He wants $350 for it, with charger as well. Any advice on if this is a good deal? I'm only going to be using it for school work. Writing documents, lecture notes, PowerPoints, etc. Will Apple work on it for me if I need work done in the future or no because it's older? Then on the File explorer, it would show up for me to pull out photos and videos and etc. Very easy and simple. | Can't adjust brightness on built-in display Posted: 04 Apr 2020 01:49 PM PDT Macbook 2,1 13" mid 2007 A1181 mod. N. W8733PWRZ5V 4gb 667mhz DDR2 SDRAM 2ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Graphics: Intel GMA 950 10 (if I remember right, 64mb). Ok so, I've installed OS X 10.10.0 Yosemite on this macbook, using SFOTT, and then I've installed audio and graphics kexts given within the sfott folder due to an after installation operations. But brightness regulation didn't work (it wouldn't even show in system preferences > monitor). I tried some Applebacklight kexts and after pasting them into extension folder, it said that wouldn't work. I also tried installing kexts using kext utility, and using 3 kexts from it's old 80gb hdd with OS X Lion on it, and it didn't say it wouldn't work, but they still don't work. So I tried also using some apps like menubar brightness (or something like that) but the very same slider didn't show up!🤷🏻♂️ So I guess it is a kexts problem, as the audio is a little low (maybe) but works fine, and I can't watch movie on VLC, only hear music, but YT videos go perfectly 🤷🏻♂️ Oh and I can't even close the lid and re-open up it without being forced to shut down the macbook because the display remains shut down 🤷🏻♂️ What else can I do?🤷🏻♂️ [link] [comments]  | ||

I dried most of the water that is visible to me and my laptop shut down. I realized later that I was supposed to turn it off immediately after doing some research...:( Thankfully, I wouldn't be needing my laptop this weekend until Monday because all of my homework has been submitted. But I need something to use because I have an online exam on Tuesday. I have an emergency fund and I can buy a new laptop...but I still want to explore my options before doing so. Posted: 04 Apr 2020 11:00 AM PDT I have been using the MBP 2018 model and it tends to overheats even while watching YouTube videos, which is quite frustrating as the video playback gets jerky and pauses entirely after a moment. I use my Macbook to edit videos mainly on Premiere Pro and because of this overheating issue, work efficiency is declining as I have to wait for the machine to cool down. So I have been thinking of upgrading to the new 16 inch model and wanted to get its review from the video editors or the people who use it for heavy tasks. I've the years the computer was getting slower and slower so I brought it to one of those quick fix computer repair shops and they told me the new update file size was larger than the amount of ram I have on the computer. (Means nothing to me so I believed it). So he said he could restore the computer to factory and make it so no new updates could be installed to save the ram space I guess? Anyway, the computer is so out of date that I can't open any websites and download any apps cause I need to update, but can't.
