Posted: 02 Mar 2020 09:39 PM PST I bought a new MacBook Pro 13 inch and first of all, the battery was drained. It didn't want to turn on. My cousin bought the same one with less storage and hers was charged halfway. Regardless, I put it to charge and used an old Apple extension cord for the charging. Then it started getting hot. I contacted support and they blamed the extension cord. Ive disconnected the extension cord and am currently using the normal port and it's still hot!!!!!!! my software's updated but it's so hot and it annoys me because this is the NEWEST MacBook Pro. like why??????????? I heard the new 16" one has fans to solve this problem and I feel so dumb and pathetic for knowing that and still going for the 13" one. This was a mess but help . [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:38 PM PST Hi guys, first time buying a MacBook and thought the Apple MacBook Air 2019, $1099 was a great price. It's that amount with 8gb memory and 128gb storage. Will that be enough? I only want it as a laptop, not for school, work or anything like that. Not really that great with tech so would really appreciate the advice :) [link] [comments]

Install Maverick on an old MacBook Air 13" mid 2013 (before updating to most recent) Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:33 PM PST Hello, I would require your help. I was given an old MacBook Air 13" mid-2013 stuck with OS X 10.8.5 (OS X Mountain Lion). I tried to update it to the latest macOS version but without success.
I do not what to do. Do you have some experiences or instructions to share with me, please? Thanks! :) [link] [comments]
Looking to buy 16'' Macbook pro. Would like to know how long does a typical MacBook lasts? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:58 PM PST I am switching from a windows laptop to MacBook pro and cost is significantly more. So would like to know from people who have used MacBook over the years, whether MacBook pro will last for around 4-5 years and not slow down for that time period. I work as a software developer professionally. [link] [comments]
Can I get a device replacement? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 06:01 PM PST I bought the 2019 MacBook Pro 15" in August. I went for a keyboard replacement recently and read posts that people have gotten the new 16" pro for free. Does anyone have advice about how I can do this? [link] [comments]
Surface Laptop 3 vs. Macbook Pro (Late 2016) Posted: 02 Mar 2020 09:45 PM PST Guys, I need some help here comparing two laptops. I currently own a late 2016 Macbook Pro 15" w/ Touchbar (specs below). I have the option to trade my friend for a Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 15". I'm more of a windows user which is why this trade is fairly compelling. It's also obviously a newer laptop but I'm curious to know how performance stacks up against each other. Late 2016 Macbook Pro w/ Touch Bar
Surface Laptop 3
What do you guys think? I know apple usually has one of the best build qualities but wondering if Surface Laptop 3 has bridged that gap a bit especially compared to something a few years old. [link] [comments]

How to get autocorrect to activate with Enter as well as Space? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 07:51 PM PST Shorter version: Is there a way to fix this behavior? On my El Capitan device and an iPhone on iOS 12.4, just pressing enter as soon as the message is typed corrects the last word (as would pressing space, but that doesn't send it). On the Catalina device, I have to press space or wait for a second for autocorrect to give me the correction box before I can press Enter, otherwise I'll send a message with the last word misspelled. On the Messages app on a Macbook Pro 2013 on El Capitan, when I type 1 word or at the end of a sentence, when I pressed enter, autocorrect would activate. For instance, If I typed, "Intersting," or "This car is intersting," it would autocorrect when I pressed Enter to send. However, on a Macbook Pro 2015 on Catalina, this doesn't work, and the message sends as is. Pressing the space bar before Enter kicks in autocorrect, and I can send afterward. However, on El Capitan, pressing enter would activate the autocorrect. If I wait for a second after typing the sentence, then the autocorrect box will pop up, and then pressing Enter will send the message correctly. So I have to press space to get autocorrect to correct the word and then press Enter, or I have to wait for a second after typing my message for the autocorrect correction to pop up, then I can press enter. MacBook Air (2018) Keyboard replacement- how long does it take? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:12 PM PST Hey guys like the title suggest, I'm taking my MBA in to replace the keyboard (the spacebar is broken and I'm basically smashing it as I go along). Am a little worried as I rely a lot on my laptop for work and have no other alternatives so I thought I'd ask:
Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 05:46 PM PST Been having pretty terrible battery on my new Macbook Pro 13 inch 2019 (top spec). My battery is now red at 25%... and earlier today it went from 15% to 5% in <3 minutes. Should I get apple to check this out? My 2015 Macbook Pro got around 8 hour of battery life, but this new machine (~$3000 CAD by the way...) gets around 6 on a good day, and less on average. edit: It says the battery condition is normal, but that's hard to believe with this type of behaviour. I have apple care + if that will help me with a replacement. [link] [comments]
Macbook Air 256GB OR Macbook Pro 128GB Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:35 AM PST Hello all! I am planning on getting a new laptop after realizing that my Macbook Air 4GB ram is not just enough. However my activities only include moderate multitasking and virtual boxing some programs. I was wondering since both of them are only less than $100 difference, which one will last me for a while? I've had my current MBA for 5 years so I already know how efficient MBA is. MBA 256 GB $1129 MBP 128 GB $1049 Thank you! [link] [comments]

Looking to upgrade from Air to Pro, advice appreciated Posted: 02 Mar 2020 03:08 PM PST I currently have a 2013 Air for general use / taking on the move which still works great apart from losing charge easy, and a Vaio which I use at home for music production on its last legs. I'm thinking of getting a Pro and running my music production off there, but unsure whether to spring for one of the 2019 models or get a older make? Lack of USB ports on the newer ones is a pain but not a game changer, unless I could get an older Pro in new condition that's recommended. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks for your time! MacBook Pro 16": Does the keyboard/trackpad not work sometimes after waking up from sleep? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:27 AM PST Have this issue very randomly – after opening my MacBook's lid, touch ID works but the trackpad/keyboard don't work, and a minute later the Bluetooth Setup Assistant pops up. Sometimes waiting a few minutes or opening/closing the lid gets it working again but a few times I've had to force restart. Is anyone else having this issue? [link] [comments]
[question] Last MacBook Pro with an upgradeable hard drive Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:04 PM PST So Macbook Pro Retina, Mid-2012 was the last MacBook Pro with upgradeable hard drive and ram but what was the last upgradeable MacBook Pro that you could upgrade the hard drive? Was it the 2016-7 model? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:44 AM PST I have a ~new 2019 macbook pro (touchbar) and I was considering installing windows 10. I've never really used a mac and I'm not necessarily looking forward to using Catalina so I would like to avoid that. Unfortunately macbooks aren't the most open and straightforward. I suppose I would go through bootcamp. I had a few questions: What are the main performance differences. It seems difficult to find honest information as people are either writing that its shit or fantastic. That goes for bootcamp itself. I read some people saying that they're surprised it even runs while others praising apple for supplying drivers that work well. When I would duel boot *nix and windows, *nix was able to read/write NTSF drives but apparently macs cannot. is that true? Would I have to have a shared drive for common files? My SSD is 500gb, any suggestions as to how i would partition that? What is the easiest way to transfer my files/programs from my current laptop to the macbook? presumably I would have to copy it all over and redownload everything but perhaps there is a more efficient way? I wouldn't really be playing many games on here to be honest, I have a desktop for that but there are certain programs that I only have access to in windows. Honestly I really dislike the OS environment [link] [comments]
Macbook Pro 16" just purchased - advice for looking after it? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 07:41 AM PST I have just purchased a new 16" Macbook Pro, arriving this week. I went for a model with 16GB ram, 1TB storage, 2.3Ghz intel core i9. (Thanks to this sub for the help and tips) I'm a freelancer in media and most of my job involves writing, but from time to time I also create short videos (5-10 mins long max). My main concern when choosing my new laptop was to make sure I can edit and export short videos fairly quickly. My last Macbook died after 6 years of solid use, pretty decent, but I'd like to make sure I look after this one to keep it working well for as long as possible. Does anyone have any tips for helping it stay alive and well? Even just basic things, like turning the damn thing off haha. Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
