| Posted: 04 Mar 2020 03:41 PM PST 15" Macbook Pro 2016 This has been a horrible afternoon of hours long phone tag between the local authorized repair place Simply Mac, and Apple. I ended up eventually talking to an 'Apple senior advisor' saying they won't replace my keyboard unless I replace the entire lid. There's been a small dent in the top right corner for over a year with no loss of functionality nor any cracks in the screen. It's totally functional. I wouldn't consider it worth a mention. They won't fix my keyboard under warranty unless i pay them $1020 to 'fix' the screen first. I don't have $1000. I don't have $100. I need a laptop for my part time dev job so I can work my way to something bigger. Clearly Simply Mac should have caught this if it was really a problem instead of wasting 5 days (so far) of my productivity. And why does Apple need to replace something perfectly functional? They say it's so they can say they can give me a new warranty, but I don't want a new warranty for this old laptop. I want a working keyboard. Am I boned? Is there anything I can do? So frustrated. | Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:23 PM PST So I have a strange issue, last night (4/3/20) I tried to open the Flight Radar app, for some reason the app was not able to open, and afterward when trying to access other apps (Messenger, Facebook, Snapchat) those apps would also not open but instead crash to home screen. I then turned my phone off to reset everything, this worked and all apps opened fine afterward. However, overnight somehow my phone attempted to update, during this update it has crashed and was unable to complete it, the phone will now not turn on. I have tried restarting it multiple times (press vol up, press vol down, hold power) and it hasn't worked, and now the phone is stuck displaying the apple logo as if it is turning on, every 5-10 minutes the screen shuts down and the logo disappears but then comes back on again repeating the process. I'm going to attempt to update it via iTunes on my PC but not sure if that will work. Any/all help is appreciated. [link] [comments]  |

| I got a new iPhone and I can’t sign in Posted: 04 Mar 2020 04:32 PM PST I recently cracked my phone and sent it in to apple care and I just got the phone back and there's multiple problems 1: the sim doesn't work I put it in and 30 seconds later it says invalid sim 2:I put a backup on iCloud but when I try to use it it says that I need a second device that has my account so it can receive 2 factor authentication but I don't have a second device 3: I have a older backup on iTunes but I don't know how to get it to show up Any help would be amazing thanks [link] [comments]  |

The folders on my USB used to open immediately when I clicked on it under "location" on Finder, but now it says "Loading..." and takes 5-10 minutes for the folders to show up. Posted: 04 Mar 2020 07:59 PM PST Hello All, A couple years ago I bought an iPhone 7 off swappa, which is a reselling website for phones akin to ebay. The phone has worked perfectly up until it started having connectivity issues, which is because of a faulty component on the main logic board.Apple has a repair program for this issue which my phone initially qualified for. However, right before they started the repair, applecare support sent me an email requiring proof of purchase and here lies my problem. Since I bought this phone second hand, does that mean I don't qualify for this repair? Does anyone have experience in this and could offer some advice? thanks! [link] [comments]  |

I was working at my office, shut my mac, put it in it's case, walk out, get in the car, put bag in passenger seat, like I do *every* day, went to the post-office, came home, opened my macbook to continue some work and it prompts me for my password, my selfie profile picture is still there above the login, but the background is different and it won't accept my password. Did you turn it off and back on again? Well yes, this prompts it to either give me a circle with a line through it that turns to a flashing folder with "?" OR if I NVRAM it takes me back to the jiggly password screen -- if I try to reset my password with the prompt underneath it goes back to black/starts a continual reboot process. My mac is currently at a Data Recovery place because I'm an idiot and did not back up my laptop (it was acting ABSOLUTELY fine, there was nothing weird or unordinary so it did not even cross my mind to do a backup UGH...but hindsight is 20/20) so I'm facing the loss of *hundreds* of hours of Graphic Design work and files for multiple clients as well as personal work. Data Recovery guy says this is some weird glitch with this series of macbook and that he is stumped/can't do anything about it...but that it isn't my harddrive and most likely all my stuff is still in the computer, I'm just....locked out? I feel like if I could just bypass this screen and get in and at least get my data, I'd be okay...probably a long shot but there are hundreds of gurus on reddit so please help! :( [link] [comments]  |

I know the problem is specific to airlines because I've had the problem on 3 different airlines in the last couple of months. I haven't had any issues connecting to wifi in any other situation. Here's a brief description of what happens. I connect the wifi to the network name and then enter the URL in my browser. The webpage won't load and I get a message saying I am not connected to the internet. I know I am doing it correctly because last flight I bought wifi on my iPhone after having the problems on my computer. I have tried using Chrome, Firefox and Safari and all have had the same issue. I've tried creating a new user to no avail. I've renewed the DHCP Lease--again, no help. Anyone? TIA [link] [comments]  |

So I got this used, in-warranty iPhone X from a well-rated seller on Swappa a month ago. From the time I booted it up, and even after a recent reset, I've noticed this weird stutter/jitter effect when scrolling—almost always in third-party apps. Someone speculated that the phone might have a third-party display, but I've been unable to confirm whether that's the case. Other than this issue, the phone works perfectly fine. Running iOS 13.3.1 and have 46/64 GB of storage available. I reset my phone and tried scrolling on Twitter before I restored from a backup, and the issue persisted. Thanks in advance for your help! | Keyboard no longer working after battery replacement (early 2015 MacBook Pro) Posted: 04 Mar 2020 05:55 PM PST Essentially what I wrote in the title. I took my computer into a shop to have its battery replaced as it would not hold a charge unless it was plugged in. The shop did not plug it in and claimed it was DOA and immediately began work. Now my computer is back but the trackpad and the keyboard (minus the on button) do not work. I have to use a blue tooth mouse and keyboard. They claim it is a software issue? But said they would order a part to fix it. I refused because this all seems fishy. I opened it up and the ribbon seems to be ok. Is there any other piece of hardware that could have been damaged that isn't apparent? I don't understand how it could suddenly have a software issue when It didn't when I gave it to them.
