Is there a way to use my MBP as an alarm clock that kicks off a Apple Music playlist? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 07:10 PM PST I would like to be able to choose a playlist in Apple Music to start playing at a given time and act as my alarm clock. I know you can select a song to play as an alarm on the iPhone, but I would really prefer a playlist and for it to be on my Mac. For what it's worth, I'd also want the playlist "alarm" to wake up my receiver via my Apple TV and start playing through the whole house as I slowly wake up and get out of bed in the morning. I have the second part of the equation worked out... just need to find a way for my MBP to kick off a playlist at a given time. Are there apps or automation tools that could make this happen? MBA 2019 - Layers while watching videos Posted: 04 Mar 2020 08:06 PM PST Hey guys, I've noticed that for a while now, but when I'm watching videos on netflix ou youtube, I am seeing these layers (https://imgur.com/EuBNMOt) often in the background. I am using Firefox and on youtube, I either select 1080p or 1440p and I understand that for netflix, I am capped at 720p. I was just wondering if there was a solution to fix this. I have searched for the same problem, but I am probably using wrong terms. Thanks! [link] [comments]

There's a small part that is cracked and the whole LCD is just flickering black and white. Around how much will replacement of screen+LCD cost? Without apple care [link] [comments]
1 Keyboard no longer working after battery replacement (early 2015 MacBook Pro) Posted: 04 Mar 2020 05:53 PM PST Essentially what I wrote in the title. I took my computer into a shop to have its battery replaced as it would not hold a charge unless it was plugged in. The shop did not plug it in and claimed it was DOA and immediately began work. Now my computer is back but the trackpad and the keyboard (minus the on button) do not work. I have to use a blue tooth mouse and keyboard. They claim it is a software issue? But said they would order a part to fix it. I refused because this all seems fishy. I opened it up and the ribbon seems to be ok. Is there any other piece of hardware that could have been damaged that isn't apparent? I don't understand how it could suddenly have a software issue when It didn't when I gave it to them. I posted this in another subreddit as I am trying to cast a wide net to diagnose. [link] [comments]
Is it too old to use my MacBook Pro for school? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 04:33 PM PST I'm dumb. I sold a nice HP Envy my dad got me in 2014 for a 2012 MacBook Pro that I could afford at the time simply because I wanted to switch over to Apple products. I was able to download Keyshot and Rhinoceros when I was in design school. Ran out of time with my scholarship, and have been out of school since spring 2018. I am looking to go back to school this summer. The only requirements I was told is that I need a laptop and internet connection since it is online school. I know my Adobe Suite worked when I was back in school, but I don't know if I should be worried with the fact I have: 1) 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 2) 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 3 Graphics is Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB I like my MacBook since it still has the disc drive, and I'm pretty content with it. I just hope it's still useable. I'm looking to major in technical communications (probably just a lot of papers and research) and make some wireframes (might need adobe again). Coding would be cool to learn, and I like to take handwritten notes. I'm okay with buying a tablet to support my design needs. [link] [comments]
Wrong US/US International Keyboard? Posted: 04 Mar 2020 04:26 PM PST I just swapped keyboard because my old one was busted. Everything seems to be working fine hardware wise, but something is wrong software wise? This is the keyboard layout for U.S. in the Preferences. I have it set to British right now as a workaround, but of course the # sign actually is the £ sign on the British keyboard so I have to swap to US for that since that one actually works right on it. What can I do? I don't recall ever having this problem before, and I've checked online and the correct U.S. keyboard is as I suspected, (the British keyboard but Shift - 3 is #. Friend picked up MacBook by screen Posted: 04 Mar 2020 03:27 PM PST I let my friend borrow my MacBook for their work, as they use a Surface they are used to picking it up by the screen and so picked my Mac by the screen to put it on the table. Do you think there's now damage to it or will I be okay? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Mar 2020 06:50 AM PST Hey guys, I am a CS student and I have a MacBook, I've been running into so many problems with not having windows. I was wondering if anyone has put windows 10 on their MacBook? I've seen where it's doable and cheaper than buying another computer. I have an HP and it's super slow and I can't figure out what's wrong with it and I've rebooted it. So I started looking and figured that if I can put windows 10 on my MacBook that would be the answer. Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:53 AM PST I'm not sure if this is the right sub to ask so I apologize in advance if this is the case. With the recent video's I've seen about the 14 inch 2020 Macbook Pro and new iPad's I wondered if anyone knows if the Macbook Air wil get updated in 2020 aswell. I'm really in the market for a Macbook, even though my current laptop functions just fine. I just want to know if the Air will get the scissor switch keyboard and slimmer bezels like how they updated the 16 inch Pro and soon the 14 inch pro. [link] [comments]
Best Buy Macbook Pro $1049! Trade in makes it cheaper! Posted: 04 Mar 2020 09:12 AM PST Great deal on the MacBook Pro! And, if you've got anything to trade in for credit, it will be even cheaper! I've got an iPad Pro 10.5 and an old 2011 11" MacBook Air I'm trading in. According to their trade in calculator, I should get $250 in credit. Makes a new MacBook Pro $799! Not bad for a device that's originally $1299. [link] [comments]
