Significance of hand movement in activity measurement? Posted: 05 Feb 2020 05:51 AM PST In Apple's support documentation for Move and Exercise measurement it's said:
I'm right-handed and keeping my Watch on left wrist. I'm often carrying a briefcase or a bag with my left hand or left shoulder, which makes impossible to let my left hand move much when I'm walking. I have tried but it feels unnatural to me to wear the Watch on the right wrist or carry briefcase/bag with the right hand/shoulder. I have been wondering how much not swinging my hand affects my activity measurement (Move, Exercise, Steps, Calories burned). Any idea/experience? [link] [comments]
Is there a way to press enter with FlickType? Posted: 05 Feb 2020 05:13 AM PST This and Swedish language support is what I'm looking for, but I won't hold my breath for the latter. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Feb 2020 05:23 AM PST Hello all! I would like to buy the Meyer Lemon leather band but unfortunately i cannot able to try it. If i'm using the s/m Nike band what size do i have to pick? [link] [comments]
Is the series 5 worth the extra $200 for my needs? Posted: 05 Feb 2020 06:55 AM PST I have a series 2 but it's starting to slow down, so I'm ready to upgrade. I primarily use my watch for working out and tracking my heart rate / calories. Is it really worth the extra $200 for the S5? I can't find any new S4's, so it's really just between the S3 and S5 at this point. Spending $400 on a watch seems a bit excessive to me. Thanks for your opinions! Autosleep users - can I see your sleep cycles? Posted: 05 Feb 2020 09:04 AM PST I've been sleeping better lately but I feel like I'm not getting enough deep sleep. I keep going in and out of it rather than staying in it for long periods of time. I'm wondering if this is related to something I eat before I go to sleep. [link] [comments]
Looking to buy an Apple Watch for my mom Posted: 05 Feb 2020 08:36 AM PST Hello. Looking to buy an Apple Watch for my mom's 70th birthday. She has some health issues so I like the idea of health tracking and fall protection. She has an iPhone 8 on ATT but I'm NOT an Apple product user and am really confused by all the options. Version 3 vs Version 4 vs Version 5? Cellular or GPS or both? Buy direct from Apple or third party? I really want to it be as SIMPLE as possible and I can not tell which option is best for her. Thanks in advance for any advice. [link] [comments]

My Apple Watch keeps using my secondary SIM card to call Posted: 05 Feb 2020 08:02 AM PST My iPhone Xʀ has dual SIM setup, but my Watch always use the secondary SIM to call, how can I change so it uses my main SIM to call? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Feb 2020 07:30 AM PST Hey guys, I was wondering If there's anywhere that would still sell any of the old Apple Nylon Straps that they sold back in 2015-2017, IIRC. I was looking for the white colour for my SS S4 and haven't been able to find any here in the U.K. Even any recommendations for a decent copy of the band would be appreciated. I've seen mixed reviews of the WSC imitations, that's why I was put off the third-party route. [link] [comments]
Last nights update killed my Series 4. Posted: 05 Feb 2020 07:22 AM PST Apple tech chat says the thing is dead. Update failed. Have to mail it back for a replacement. Seems like a hassle. Bummed out. Liked my Apple Watch. [link] [comments]

Is there any negative consequence of using Theatre Mode to save battery? Posted: 05 Feb 2020 05:42 AM PST Hello all! I just recently bought a Series 3 42mm second hand from someone. I used it for a few days and was really not happy with the short battery life, as I was used to my Fitbit. I discovered theatre mode, and now I can stretch my usage to 3 days instead of 1. Is there any long term downside to this? I don't have to be accidentally doing something negative to the battery. [link] [comments]

Battery Observation - Read if your battery is garbage. Posted: 04 Feb 2020 07:16 PM PST I have had every Apple Watch since Series 0 with the exception of Series 1. I have had cellular models with the service activated since Series 3. I work from home and am basically always within range of iPhone and I have full WiFi in all rooms. Life has been great for years with respect to battery. Typically ending the day with 50% remaining. This fell off a cliff last summer on Series 4 after I started running watchOS 6 betas. Just pure trash. Routinely running out of battery by 4PM or earlier. Got Series 5 with cellular activated. Same thing, dying nearly every day by 5PM with random days of decent battery life. I took both the Series 4 and Series 5 to Apple store and they were shipped out for battery service. While I wait, I fired up my Series 3, paired it, set up fresh (no backup restore), and updated to latest watchOS. I installed no 3rd party apps, am running explorer face with stock complications. Cellular is not activated. I'm at 15 hours since I took it off the charger and I have 45% battery left! So, what does this tell me? One for more of the following are the issue: Cellular being activated w/watchOS 6 One or more 3rd party apps complications My gut tells me it's 3rd party apps/complications. My money is on Carrot Weather or Outlook. I will further test my theory when I get Series 4 and Series 5 back by activating cellular, and not installing 3rd party. To me this can be the only explanation for why some of us see such terrible battery and others are enjoying it like it was in years past. [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Feb 2020 08:01 AM PST Do you ever find yourself getting bored or tired of your Apple Watch? Do you getting tired of charging the watch every night and wanting to go back to wearing a regular watch? Just wondering as for me seems like the shine has disappeared from wearing the watch and worrying about charging it every day or early in the morning. And I guess in a way I'm just blah over the notifications all the time. I like the convenience but feel in some ways it's too much engagement you know. I like the health features but I'm honestly really now using them. So any of you feel the same? [link] [comments]
Does fall detection ever have false alarms? Posted: 05 Feb 2020 02:14 AM PST Up until now, I've left fall detection turned off for my AW series 4. But I was just diagnosed with BPPV and have already fallen a couple times (luckily back onto my sofa, so not hurt.) I've had my watch sitting on the coffee table in the past, and the green light will turn on trying to get my heart rate, so apparently it thinks it's still on my wrist? I'm worried that if I leave fall detection on, it will be on the table like that and maybe get knocked off and end up dialing 911. 🤦🏻♀️ I know the alert sound is loud but what if I'm upstairs or something and don't hear it? Should I be sure to turn it off every night when I take off my watch or do you think it will be okay if it falls off the charger? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Feb 2020 01:57 AM PST I'm not trying to start a debate. I like both platforms and hardware. Garmin gives me much more information and flexibility for my workout needs. (Apple doesn't even differentiate indoor and outdoor rowing for example. I had to buy an app. Stroke length is still missing. AW doesn't autopause while cycling etc.) Apple gives me the edc/office/productivity stuff. It seems like sync between both is somewhat broken though. Using the 3rd party HealthFit app, my Garmin workouts don't close rings and it's generally just confusing. Are there other people out there using both? What's your workflow? I have considered wearing two watches. Then again, I'm not THAT crazy. [link] [comments]

Charging problem - three watches Posted: 05 Feb 2020 12:20 AM PST Hi all, I have 2 watches, Series 3 Nike and a Series 4, my partner has a Series 1. The last few nights we have had issues with the watches not charging fully so last night I tried to troubleshoot the issue. I have tried different official Apple chargers, different sockets, reset the watches, repaired the watches but nothing seems to be working. The watches will charge for anything between 1 minute and 10 minutes before stopping charging. I'd understand 1 watch maybe having issues but all 3 seems like too much of a coincidence. I really don't know what to try next as it doesn't appear to be the cable, the socket or the adaptor. Any help appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Feb 2020 05:51 PM PST So about a month ago I posted about an issue I was having under the screen of my Apple Watch Series 5. This is what I was looking at. I know it looks pretty small (the 4 dislikes and comment are proof) but it's larger in real life and I can see it under certain lighting conditions. It was starting to drive my OCD crazy and I got into the Apple store to see if anything could be done about it. They sent it to the repair center and then sent it back to me saying that there was no issue. I escalated this issue and I was told that I could get another appointment where I could actually show the store what I was talking about (they didn't give me that opportunity previously). I actually had to cancel this meeting because of a practice I didn't know I had but I call about a month later to reschedule. I was told by this person that getting into the store wouldn't do anything since the service center already made its ruling. I was told by this person that there was nothing I can do about it. I guess what I'm asking is that from all of your previous experiences, is this correct? Is there anything I can do from here? Or should I just accept this ruling? Update(!): I recontacted Apple basically asking what does escalate mean (at the time I thought it meant they were going to ESCALATE the seriousness of the case: redo diagnostics, allow me to show them what I mean, etc). I then asked about the seemingly contradictory nature of the two things I was told. He told me there was still action to take. He escalated me to his super and then she allowed me to send her the picture and demonstrate what I was talking about. She told me that there is clearly an issue (which is obvious) and is gonna contact engineering for further action. She assured me that this, in fact, isn't over. Thank you for all the help and support! [link] [comments]
