I need help changing Apple ID Region! Don’t want to lose my iCloud Drive information Posted: 25 Feb 2020 07:25 PM PST I want to change Apple ID region as I moved and no longer have access to my last payment method. I have checked some information online, but I still have a few questions.

Will I be able to track my stolen iPhone? Posted: 25 Feb 2020 06:06 PM PST I lost my iPhone 11 at school today and I wanted to know if I would be able to track it via offline finding. My phone shows it's last location was at school but I know for sure it was stolen. If the thief takes out my SIM card and powers off my iPhone, will I be able to locate it after it is turned back on? Because offline finding uses bluetooth and I'm pretty sure iPhones turn off wifi, bluetooth, and cellular, until it is unlocked. And from there will they be able to reset it without me tracking it's last location? I do have iCloud lock but I'm more worried about getting my hardware back. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2020 09:41 PM PST My wife was having issues with her phone so I decided to do a backup and restore for her. The home button is broken but we managed to get all the way to installing the backup. The way we even got past the "Hello" activation screen was to turn the phone off and back on and it opened on the activation screen rather than the hello screen asking to press the home button. After installing the backup the phone is being forced to update through pressing the home button which again does not work. Installing the backup brought the virtual home button up on the screen but that isn't able to be tapped or moved at all. Turning the phone off and back on does not bypass this "press home button to upgrade" screen. So I am wondering first and foremost if there is a way to bypass this update as she does not want the update at all. She was still on iOS 12 due to her luck so she would rather not go up to iOS 13 as she is not a gamer and has no need for the game pad access or any of the gimmicks involved with iOS 13; would rather not deal with the killswitches involved with newer updates. But if there is no way to bypass the update I am wondering if there is a way to go through with the update because although she doesn't want it, I believe a working phone is better than no phone at all even if she doesn't want the update, if updating is the only way to use the phone she would be willing to bite the bullet I found out after some convincing, so that is why I asked for a bypass before a fix. Thank you for your time reading this post and thank you for any input. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Feb 2020 08:23 PM PST Just bought a MacBook air, set up my iCloud and Apple account but I can't figure out how to add my wife's account so we each have our own account. How can I set up two logins using our appple accounts on our MacBook? [link] [comments] |
2009 macbook runs more Fps than 2014 Macbook Pro Posted: 25 Feb 2020 08:07 PM PST I had a 2009 macbook and recently gave it to a friend. It has 3gb of ram and can run minecraft at 60fps compared with my Macbook Pro which has 8gb of ram and runs minecraft at between 5 and 30 fps. They both have the same settings? Does anyone know why? Thanks [link] [comments] |
I spilled some milk on my macbook air 13, and dont know if there's anything i can do Posted: 25 Feb 2020 12:04 PM PST Hello. Today I spilled a bit of milk over my macbook's keyboard, right side. I cleaned it right away and it only hit like 3 keys and the side of the laptop. It still works. In fact, i'm using it right now. I don't know how much of the liquid got in, but i'm kinda scared. I've tried googling for things to do when spilling liquids on your laptop, but it mostly answers for when you spill a whole cup of tea all over the keyboard and fry it. this is not my case. what consequences can i have? is there anything i can do? sorry if my phrasing is bad. Unable to turn on iMac Late 2017 5k after upgrading to i7 6700k CPU Posted: 25 Feb 2020 07:23 PM PST Mac: A1419 (EMC 2834) Guide I followed Thermal Paste used: Noctua NT-H1 (not electrically conductive) So I put the thing back together and it won't turn on. Fan/HDD/screen won't turn on. USB Mouse does not receive power. With the screen unconnected, I can see that the 1st diagnostic LED (the one on the bottom) is on when the power cable is connected. I also notice, when plugging in the power cable, I can hear a faint clicking sound coming from I believe the power supply board. If I click the power button, the clicking sound will stop. If I click the power button again, the clicking noise will start again. I'm assuming the issue is not with the new CPU, as the fan and 4th diagnostic LED should turn on. So I'm assuming the issue is either with the logic board or power supply board. I'm 99% sure I didn't touch any capacitor leads or exposed solder joints on the power board, but I can't be 100% sure. I've installed CPUs into PC motherboards before, I can't imagine I did it wrong. Cleaned and applied thermal paste to CPU, GPU, and VRAMs. I'm wondering something. When I first tried turning it on, I plugged the power cable into the computer before connecting the cable into an outlet. Could this have like shorted something or am I overthinking things lol? My next step would be to check the power board with a micrometer like what this guy did with an older imac, but I need to get a multimeter first. Anything else I can check in the meantime? Also, does this sound like more of a logic board issue, or a power board issue? EDIT: I forgot to add that I forgot to hold the power button for 10 seconds to discharge the power supply's capacitors before I started working on the imac. I just unplugged the power cable and got to work. [link] [comments] |

iMessage notifications not coming in for certain threads. Not muted, DND not activated. Posted: 25 Feb 2020 05:11 PM PST After updating to the latest OS last week I've been having a weird issue with my texts. Some messages with notify me with a banner and a red badge but last week I totally stopped receiving banners, sounds, & red badges for one of my group chats and now my notifications won't come in from my boyfriend. I have no idea I've received a text until I go into the iMessage app and open the thread. The thread doesn't even show the little blue dot for a new message. The chats have not been muted and I've checked to make sure my DND is off. It just randomly started happening and now I'm afraid I'll miss important texts because it'll start happening to all of my other threads/new incoming messages. I can't seem to find anyone else having this issue. I've tried restarting, hard restart, and checking all of my message/notification settings. Help? [link] [comments] |
Photos library problem - stopped working on one drive Posted: 25 Feb 2020 12:27 PM PST So I have an odd problem. I have a 500gb photos library that I moved off my laptop onto two external raid arrays - one is a mirror of the other. The photos library on each are literally identical - they were both created by copying the library from the laptop. Both are extended journaled filesystems, both are arrays of 4 drives. The library runs from one of them fine, but opening it on the other drive produces an error where Photos will go into an endless loop of repair prompts. It says the library needs to be repaired, but when you click repair it does not begin repair, but instead presents the repair prompt again. Ignore ownership on this volume is set - OSX Mojave. I have tried copying the working library again, using CCC, all files are there. Any ideas? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Weird popping sound coming from underneath my 13" MBP (early 2015 model) Posted: 25 Feb 2020 11:52 AM PST Pretty much what this articles describes (and many similar ones on the net): https://9to5mac.com/2017/04/12/macbook-pro-screen-popping/ although they seem to imply it's the screen or hinges, but I think in my case it's coming from underneath the laptop, somewhere on the left hand side. Any ideas what might be causing it? [link] [comments] |

iOS: False insufficient storage message Posted: 25 Feb 2020 03:26 PM PST Since upgrading to 12.4.1 on an iPhone 6 I can't start a download of new apps without getting an insufficient space message despite Settings>iPhone Storage indicating plenty of space for the app. Also, I have a major "Other" section taking up space, even though I have few apps and clear them regularly. The only thing I've never done is delete the Safari "history and website data" but I have a ton of windows open in Safari and I'm afraid I'll lose them if I do that. If I reset/restore everything via a backup, will my Safari windows be preserved? And any other suggestions about how to reduce the "Other" section? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
iphone location services indicator has been on a week Posted: 25 Feb 2020 03:10 PM PST iphone 8 13.3.1 It feels like the icon on the upper right corner has been on for a week now. It will go hollow but then return to solid after a minute or two. I have shut the phone down, turned off what I see to be the offending system services (it appears to be system services which are the offenders and not apps) and shut it down and I cannot seem to get them to stop. Unsure if 13.3.1 caused a change because I think I updated around a week ago? Mostly it is irritating to see that arrow (yes, i know I can turn it off but that isnt really a fix) but I also assume it is draining battery. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Weird script received via text message - Any idea how or what caused it? Posted: 25 Feb 2020 02:21 PM PST A friend of mine sent me a text earlier that was very odd. She claims that she did not send it and she showed me her phone to show there was no message like this sent from her device. Below is the code that was attached in the message (with names and numbers removed for privacy of course)
The FIRST and LASTNAME 1's were the contact names she had originally stored me as months agoThe FIRST and LASTNAME 2's were the contact names she had changed those to. I'm curious as to what triggered something to pull contact information from her phone from months ago and send it to me unwarrented. Is this a bug? Is there something else in play here? There are no jailbroken phones in this scenario and I'm worried this is something on my end or hers that needs to be fixed. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help! Edit: Both devices mine and hers are iphone 10's running on iOS 13 [link] [comments] |
Download all text history from mac Posted: 25 Feb 2020 02:13 PM PST I want to download all of my history of imessages and text messages from my mac. I have my messages uploaded to icloud and synced between the messages app on my mac and on my iphone. I'm seeing two answers to this problem: 1) 3rd party apps such as iExplorer. I would have to pay to export the information 2) accessing the information directly from my mac using the messages folder found by going "username"-->"library"--> messages. this can only access imessages, not text messages I want to be able to access my message history in its entirety, including the text messages, and i dont want to have to pay. Is there any way that I can do this? Is there a better system that I'm missing? TIA for all of your help Edit 1: to clarify, I want to be able to export my text history as a csv or something similar [link] [comments] |

How do I get maps to search in the location I'm looking at rather than where I am? Posted: 25 Feb 2020 01:58 PM PST Example, I move the map to Durango Co and search for Skatepark. It zooms back to my town and finds the skatepark that's a block away from where I'm sitting. [link] [comments] |
Touch bar on MBP 13 completely gone/not showing Posted: 25 Feb 2020 09:43 AM PST Hi everyone, I'm having a weird issue with my touch bar on my MBP (macOS Catalina). It was working fine a couple hours ago, but suddenly disappeared. I have shut down and restarted it a bunch of times and have also rested the SMC and NVRAM but nothing has helped. I've also tried my luck in terminal but unfortunately nothing happened there either. When I go into my system preferences and into "keyboard", the options for the touch bar and control strip are also no longer there. Not sure what to do at this point. Called Apple Support and they told me to take it in for service, but it was literally working fine 2 hours ago... Thanks so so much in advance!! [link] [comments] |

Merge iCloud backups? Please help! Posted: 25 Feb 2020 01:13 PM PST Hello wonderful of r/applehelp I am having a small issue with my mums iPhone. When I set up the new phone the old backup didn't go across correctly so about half of the photos failed to transfer. She has now been using the new phone for about a month. However she wants all the photos... She went into Apple to see the "geniuses" who said they can't do anything. But suggest she backed up her phone then reset her phone set it up and use the old backup and then the stuff on the new phone would load from iCloud but she would have used the old backup. It seems very confusing and risky to me. Any advice? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to disable power button functionality on an iphone SE? Posted: 25 Feb 2020 01:05 PM PST Is there a way to disable power button functionality on an iphone SE? I dropped my iphone se directly on the power button and ever since my phone thinks I am holding down the power button and constantly prompts the shut down screen where it asks to confirm that you want to shutdown my phone. This takes me back to the lock screen which is very annoying. Is there a way to turn off the functionality for this button and just use assistive touch? [link] [comments] |
