How can I remote wake and control an ipad my mom has with her in her memory care facility?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:41 AM PST

I'd love to play spotify and netflix for my mom remotely. She used her ipad for these services but the memory isn't there anymore to operate.

Yes I could ask the staff there but they don't know what she likes and I'd rather be in direct control of this.

Is there any way I can install software on the ipad that allows a remote wake and operation from my macbook? Is there a better forum for asking this kind of question?

    Controlling photos space consumption

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 01:43 PM PST

I'm looking for a better method to control the amount of space photos takes up on my device. I don't take many, if any photos on the iPad, but I'd like to be able to use it to view photos I've taken and uploaded to photos.

It appears that a good deal of data is being loaded onto the device for photos I've never viewed. Short of disabling photos on the iPad is it possible to only store thumbnails or less? Like only store thumbnails for photos taken in the last 6 months. Then when I want to view the photos, just retrieve them iCloud on demand, even if there is a delay while it's downloaded in real time.

I think this seems reasonable, but searching hasn't led me to any reasonable means of meeting this goal.

Third Party Cables That Will Actually Charge a 6th Gen?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 09:09 AM PST

    Hey.

    We've all been there.

The Apple Lightning cables cost an arm and a leg.

But the cheap cables don't have enough capacitance (I'm guessing) to charge the iPad when the screen is on.

Has anybody found a reasonably priced cable that works as well as the Apple cable? My "in the box" cable is getting old and I'm just waiting for it to die.

Thank you and Happy New Year.

Instagram on the iPad is looking like this for at least 5 years. They have no respect for their users. Any reason not having Instagram on the iPad?

How to install ipadOS for ipad 3rd generation (or the minimun version supporting procreate app)

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 11:18 AM PST

Hi, I have an iPad 3 (from 2013 i think) and i wanted to know if it could be upgraded by manually updating it to a higher version. I would at least like to work with the app ProCreate.

If it's totally not possible then I may have to look for a new one. But if there's a chance that it's possible, i'd like to take it. My iPad's been sitting on the shelf collecting dust the last few years.

Help regarding the update is highly appreciated. Suggestions for an (affordable) iPad suited for drawing while travelling is welcome too.

Why are there no magnetic keyboard covers for the iPad Pro, besides Apples?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 02:17 PM PST

I'm planning on stepping up from the iPad Air 2 to a Pro 12.9", but it seems like there's really only one option if you want to use a slim/thin keyboard, which is the Apple Smart Keyboard. The logitech version seems to be a bulky complete case + keyboard.

On my air, I have the Ultrathin Magnetic Clip-on Keyboard Cover, and it's been amazing. It allows me protect my iPad, but also quickly remove it to use on my spin bike as a Peloton screen. Why wouldn't they create something similar for the Pro?

I'm excited to step up to the Pro, but it feels like I'm going to lose a lot of functionality that I love if I have to use Smart Keyboard or some other knockoff.

    Paperlike 2 Shipping Times

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 03:40 PM PST

    Hi!

I recently purchased the second version of the Paperlike screen protector off of their website. I ordered it on December 15th and they said it left them on the 16th. I believe that online, they state that my free shipping should take 2 weeks, since I live in the United States. Is anyone who ordered a screen protector experiencing similar issues with shipping? I thought I'd post here since not many people have been posting about the really bad shipping time, especially when they state that it should be here in about 2 weeks. I can live with a few days later than expected, but I'm starting to get worried because I've heard of up to four weeks of shipping time.

    Thanks!
