    Sleeping with your AW

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 04:26 AM PST

    Sleeping with your AW

While 'Theater ' mode is a good idea for sleep tracking (I use AutoSleep), there is more one can do to make it even better. Sometimes you might wake up and want to check the time (or accidentally tap the screen) without disturbing your partner. Here's my setup for sleep tracking with minimal battery impact. Set up the Modular watch face as follows. Choose the red option for the face. Set all complications to 'Off'. This way if you touch the screen (accidentally or intentionally) all you will see is the dimmed red digital time. Shouldn't wake you or your partner. So it's Theater, Do Not Disturb, decrease the brightness, turn off 'Always on", and use the Modular face with red digital time only. AutoSleep works fine with this setup. I've found that the battery use with this setup (in my series 5) ranges from 4-9% depending on how long I sleep. This also accounts for a mid-sleep visit to the bathroom (damn prostate). Now you are all ready for bed and your partner will thank you!

I’ve had my s5 44m space grey for about a week, and these are my thoughts (very surprised)

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 12:42 PM PST

I've always had an iPhone, and loved watches

I never really played with an Apple Watch in person until a week ago at Best Buy, and i was Pretty much sold instantly just based on the quality and feel and screen and brightness etc.

BUT, the watch keeps getting better and more useful as i learn about it

What started out as (to me) a mini iPhone on my wrist that tells time and has a few cool gimmicks has replaced my watch, my wallet, my navigation system, and almost my phone. It tracks my sleep, my heartbeat, my walking/running/workouts, motivates me to keep going, and that's on top of all the cool "tricks" it does

I can tell that i have a strong bond with it that will only grow over time

What a lovely surprise, and it's nice to be here and share with other Apple Watch enthusiasts

Tell me what surprised you/ ways you use your watch that you didn't expect

9:20PM: Gonna take a break from responding to each comment, but i will read and enjoy all so please keep commenting!

Did you loose an Apple Watch series 4 over the festive period? If so I may have it.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 06:19 AM PST

I have come into possession of an Apple Watch series 4, was lost in December it ended up in my mates luggage.

If you have lost a series 4 Apple Watch over the festive period and can provide the serial number or a very accurate description of it and then strap, then please get in touch with me so I can reunite you with it.

I will provide more details via PM with potential owners.

If I spoke to Apple would they be able to check the serial number against the iCloud login assigned?

    Cheers.

I've got a new Apple Watch Series 5 in black/grey, and now half of my old bands don't match anymore. Which ones are your favourites?

    Apple Care for Apple Watch

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 10:34 PM PST

I'm about to get an Apple Watch S5 and am not too sure about Apple Care it is around $120 here in Aus. What I'm wondering is, after you pay the fee if you damage your watch enough for Apple care to be needed do you not pay any additional money or do you have to pay more money but it's a bit cheaper than if you didn't have Apple care. Right now from what I'm reading it seems like you are basically paying for a discount in repairs if you damage your watch in the future with Apple care

Should I Buy Genuine Sport Loops Or Replicas?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 12:23 AM PST

I keep see people saying that the replica bands are better, but some people say the genuine bands are worth the price, mostly because they will last longer. Which should I choose?

    Question regarding wake screen.

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 09:49 PM PST

The feature of automatically opening the workout app mid-workout is super helpful. However, is there a way to turn this off? Because there are golf apps that tell you how long to go in the hole but it is inconvenient to have to get out of the workout app every single time I wake the watch screen. Cheers.

Manually add exercise after recent health app update?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 07:57 AM PST

Before posting this thread I did try googling, but all the results I found were from previous versions of the health app on iPhone. I forgot to start my workout on my Apple Watch for yoga this morning. I want to manually enter the exercise minutes. Can someone please walk me through the steps of doing that on the most up to date version of the health app?

Are third party bands okay to use?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 07:53 AM PST

On amazon, a lot of the 1 star reviews include "Apple Watch fell off the band and shattered". I was wondering, does anyone have an experience of the watch falling with third party bands? And if so, are there any brands to steer clear of? Or should I just fork over the cash to Apple for a new sport band?

Should I buy an Apple Watch Series 3?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 07:51 AM PST

I am thinking of buying an Apple Watch in the hope that it will fulfil most of my criteria. I don't think I can afford the price of an Apple Watch 4 or 5, they are still over 400 Euros here, even refurbished. But an Apple Watch 3 might work.

Here is what I am hoping for:

    1. I can manually track activities other than exercise, e.g. trained the dog for 5 mins, meditated for 20 mins, wrote my book for 10 mins, etc. (I assume via a third party app, but I need to be able to do this just using my watch and easy)
    2. 24/7 heart rate
    3. automatically detects brisk walking and elliptical machine (or can very easily added)
    4. tracks steps and exercise
    5. somewhat gamified, i.e. you get a firework or something if you reached your step goal
    6. comfortable to wear, even while asleep
    7. breathing exercises would be nice, ideally with stress detection and alarm
    8. works with Alexa - because Siri never understands me :-D
    9. connects to a nice and fun app on the phone (IOS compatible)
    10. SP02 sensor
    11. Measures HRV
    12. can determine my fitness level (VO2 needed for that?) and tell me whether it is improving (fitness score?)
    13. would be nice if it could connect with Hidrate Spark and Activ5

What I DON'T care about (though maybe I should):
Workouts on screen, music, GPS, cellular, water resistant, suitable for swimming/running/skiing/cycling - since I don't exercise (yet), social functions

    Please, please, help! Tia

Apple Watch not starting up and keeps restarting until the Apple logo

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 07:34 AM PST

So here is what has happened and what I have done so far to fix the situation: 1. The watch battery almost die and it recommended me to put it in power reserve mode so i did. 2. Charged as usual. 3. Wears the watch and i noticed it kept restarting itself. 4. I force restarted the watch. 5. The watch restarted successfully but now the screen was unresponsive. 6. Force restarted the watch again and now it only booted to the Apple Logo. 7. Try force restarting the watch and still it only booted to the Apple logo. 8. Contacted Apple Support and he suggested me to unpair and erase the watch. 9. Unpaired the watch on iphone but cannot erase it. 10. The support suggested erasing the watch by clicking both buttons until seeing the apple logo only then click the side button until an option to erase the watch comes out. 11. The option didn't come out. 12. Booked an appointment to inspect the watch.

Note: I went to swimming pool today with the watch and have water lock on but after the session the watch was working fine. Also the battery percentage after unplugging the watch from the charger is 100%. It's so sad things like this with Apple products happen to me. Last time my Macbook Pro's SSD needs replacement. Luckily both the Macbook and this Watch are still in warranty. Now my Apple Watch S4 :(

[SUPPORT] My Series 3 won’t change faces from the Apple Watch app

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 07:14 AM PST

Hi there, I have been having an issue where I have been trying to change my series 3 face on the Apple Watch app by going to the face gallery, and then choosing one and pressing "Set as current Watch face", but nothing changes on the watch. Everything else works fine on the app and changes everything I need, but the watch face simply will not change. It will only change if I change it on the watch, but the complications would be tricky to change using the watch. I have iOS 13.3 on the XR, my watchOS version is 6.1.1. I have tried restarting my phone and my watch, disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth, yet nothing happens. Some people say to restart the watch but I'd prefer not to since I have already set it up so it takes a while. Anyone with this problem found a solution? It's kind of annoying and I really love my Apple Watch.

My watch is barely recording my heart rate during workouts

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 10:27 PM PST

    Hey all,

The title sums it up. When working out, the watch doesn't want to take my heart rate, mostly ending in a "chart unavailable" or it mapping about half. When going into the heart rate app, it measures perfectly. Any help?

ECG app missing (in the US, series 4, Watch OS 6.1.1, iOS 13.3)

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 07:06 AM PST

Did Apple remove this feature? My software is up to date, I'm in the US, and have a series 4. Am I missing something?

I have opened the Health app on my phone, browsed to ECG, but there is no prompt to install anything.

    I don't see it anywhere.

    Thanks

Series 5 cellular bluetooth to car stereo not working

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 06:29 AM PST

I'm trying to get my Series 5 cellular Apple Watch to pair with my car stereo, so I can stream music from my watch to the car without having to have my iPhone around.

I found some posts from > 1 year ago where series 3 and series 4 were stated as not working to stream audio to a car entertainment system.

Main reason I purchased a cellular model (and an Apple Watch in general) is to not be tethered to the phone, regardless of what I'm doing. I don't expect to get CarPlay, but audio streaming and normal hands free bluetooth function like interrupting the music and taking a call I would expect to work. This is a pretty big gap in that functionality. Anyone know if that has changed in the past year or with the S5?

    Can’t decide on upgrade

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 07:23 PM PST

I have a series 2 that still works for the most part. Sometimes when I get an email the screen will lag a bit before it shows me the email notification. When I raise my wrist check the time or check my workout it doesn't always come on. I really don't want to spend the money on a series 5 if I don't have to. Are there any extra features on the 5 that aren't on the 4, besides the always on display?

Any good sleep tracking apps out there?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 05:52 AM PST

For a long time, I've used the Fitbit Versa. It was a great little watch when I first got it. However, with time, I felt like it wasn't as accurate with its tracking, like calories, and steps, etc... The sleep tracking was great mind you. Recently though, I moved over to an Apple Watch and I absolutely love the thing; it's great. I've tried a few sleep apps before on my Apple Watch, but I felt like some of them weren't up to my liking with accuracy and what not. So, I was wondering if anyone here suggests any sleep tracking apps that they personally use, or like, or something else. I still do use my Versa at nighttime for sleep tracking, but it's been getting kinda tedious with time having to switch watches and what not.

    Thanks in advance.

iPhone SE compatibility with 4 and 5

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 08:07 PM PST

I've seen conflicting info on this. I called Apple and they told me the Series 5 watch does NOT work with SE. On this reddit i searched old threads, people here tend to say it DOES work on SE (and 4 as well) although i saw some people having connectivity or other issues. On Apple forums i've seen people claim both ways.

    What's the deal here?

I expect to use the watch almost exclusively for full-night sleep tracking every night. I just want to get the watch that will work best for this task without problems.

Reminders not syncing on Apple Watch. Any fix?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 07:45 PM PST

Reminders not syncing on Apple Watch, saying I have zero scheduled and zero in all, when I have 24 scheduled and 28 reminders in all. The iPhone, iCloud on the web, and Mac all sync except the Watch. I tried unpairing then re-pairing, restoring as new, turning off then on reminders on the iPhone iCloud settings, signing out then into iCloud, rebooting both watch and iPhone. Im on WatchOS 6.1.1

EDIT: I can't even create new reminders on the Watch.

Under Armour Record on my Series 5

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 03:48 AM PST

My UA Record watch app is only showing as a complication option on a couple of watch faces, but on most watch faces, it is not appearing as an option in the scroll. I've done the syncing process. What am I missing? Thanks!
