    Hey Guys and Gals!

I have officially taken over r/AppleWatch's Discord Server so it's under new management and I will be active on there so if you do decide to join I'll be there to hang around and interact with the community even if you don't have an Apple Watch it's okay we would still love to have you around and interacting in the main general chats and also maybe getting an Apple Watch who knows!

So as you know, we had this discord server back in June of 2019, but it was pretty inactive, but now I have taken the responsibility of the server and will try my best to keep it alive and interact with the community as well!

So if you have any questions, my tag is Patrick#8888.

Does anyone know if you can change the always on screen to your normal watch face when you’re using an app in the background(shown in the image)? I kinda just want it to return to my normal watch face rather than just the time and a blurred screen.

How to see if Watch is stolen?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 11:59 AM PST

Three months ago I bought a series 4 with cellular service off of offer up. I did everything to verify that it was legit. It synced to my phone. I bought LTE for it. I used it fine for three months.

Two days ago I switched phones. I reset my watch and it was locked.

Finally went into the Apple store and they haven't seen anything like it. My error message said "There is a problem with my watch." (Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/wVIEJEY) After some digging they said it was a stolen demo unit.

Crap 💩 how can I verify that for the future?

Edit: So far I think what I gathered is somehow the guy stole the watch and sold it for cheap to get rid of it right away. I bought it for $250 but I sniped it right when it was posted. I tested it and it was fine. Apple store eventually found out and blacklisted the watch. The black list doesn't go into effect unless you try reset and sync the phone to a new watch since it needs to "phone home" or in this case Apple to look through the database.

I guess so far it's a rare case but I wanted to let everyone know and get any ideas of how to avoid it. For me it's to be weary if the item is too new and too cheap. When I bought the item he said it was new but there was no box and it came with an old charger. Some red flags but definitely was subsided when I checked with icloud.

Edit 2: Well this is just good info and a warning for everyone. It's definitely a first encounter with this. This is my third Apple Watch. Two I bought new but my last watch the Apple 2 was cracked when my kid dropped it on the tile floor 🙄. I decided to save some money and buy a used one.

I've been an Apple fanboy since the first iPhone and have been a user for 10+ years now. Crazy with how much I "know" about using, buying, and selling products how I can still get fooled.

    Stay safe!

    How to track running intervals

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 06:30 AM PST

Hello, I'm planning to do 4 interval runs with rest in between. How can I track the interval such that the rest time is not counted as if I'm running?

People who use an Apple Watch Series 5 Cellular - does your watch’s battery life suffer heavily when using LTE?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 05:20 AM PST

I just want to know whether using the Cellular Apple Watch Series 5 to make calls/listen to music/browse e-mails/download apps when you don't have your iPhone with you impacts the battery life heavily.

Thanks for in advance for your answers!

    Water resistance

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 08:07 AM PST

I have a series 4 and I get so worried about getting it wet. I haven't showered with it ever. It's only been wet when washing hands. So I'm curious how many people actually shower with their watch and have you seen any change in performance?

Salt and Sand with 5 SS and 5 Titanium?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 06:04 PM PST

I'm going to be going on a cruise to the Caribbean at the end of January. My mom has a 5 SS and I will have a 5 titanium. Has anyone had experience with the salt and sand? Would you take it to the beach? Would you put it in the salt water? No ridicule, please.

Help me choose an Apple Watch to buy

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 07:02 AM PST

I don't know much about Apple watches as I've never really gotten into the hype. But I'm planning on buying one soon - maybe the series 5?

First question, is it worth it to buy a series 5 Apple Watch or should I just try to look for a series 4 (even if second hand) ?

Next, I can't really decide on the design. What case color would you recommend and why? Also - sport band or sport loop? Is it worth the extra dollars to get stainless steel?

If it helps - reason I'm buying is because I don't have a watch. And I think I deserve a decent watch although I can't afford luxurious watches. So in the meantime, I think an Apple watch is good enough.

And unlike normal watches, I think the Apple Watch is a more flexible accessory - can be for daily use but still acceptable for more formal occasions.

    Apple Watch cleaning

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 11:14 AM PST

Are optical lens cleaning wipes that are labelled to be suitable for camera screens, glasses, laptop screens and phone screens; viable for cleaning the screen and sensor of an Apple Watch? Thanks

Question about all Series' auto brightness (and how to turn it off)

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 05:41 AM PST

How do you turn that off? It doesn't seem like you can. It makes it very difficult to read the screen if you have visual issues like RP. A person close to me who has it literally has to carry a flashlight at all times to flash the screen with it to get it to go to full brightness so that they can even see it. Seems odd that it's not a toggle at least for the severely visually impared when they have so many accessibility options.

    Liquid screen protectors.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 03:43 PM PST

Anyone ever used them? I got a couple of tiny 2ml bottles of the stuff as a test purchase because to be completely honest I assumed it was marketing BS, but worth a shot as they're pretty cheap. Remarkably they actually seem to do whats on the tin!

I have a tempered glass screen protector on my iPhone 11 Pro which had a few tiny surface scratches and a patch where its 'oleophobic' coating had worn off, I thought Id try it on that as its a disposable piece of glass - before applying it to my S4s screen and wow, filled the tiny scratches and the worn patch has completely vanished, looks and feels new. Also have a 2017 iPad Pro that I predominately use a microfibre tipped stylus with, and have recently felt the screen feels slightly rougher & grainy in certain areas, though visually looks perfect - same result after application, feels buttery smooth again.

Applied it to my S4, though that still has a perfect screen, mainly because I also noticed increased resistance to fingerprints. Now I don't buy that they add a layer of '9H' hardness or drop protection, but as an extra level of light protection to your watch/devices or as a coating rejuvenator I think they are a go, I don't know how long the coating will last but as cheap as they are I'd be happy if it lasted a couple of months.

Is there a big difference between series 3 and series 4/5?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 04:08 AM PST

I read a lot of articles online, but still confused about it especially about the processors and other hardware related things. Also series 3 has half the price of series 4/5

Edit: i meant by 4/5 "series 4 and series 5".

    [Support] Activation Lock

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 03:18 AM PST

Series 2 Apple Watch WatchOS: Unknown iOS: Unknown

Hi I got my watch recently off craigslist and it has an activation lock i guess. I'm trying to get the activation lock/icloud account off of it so that I can set it up and use it with my phone. I have tried to message and call the seller but he won't respond and also have looked up solutions to this problem such as removal services or youtube tutorials but they seem to either be scams or not work. Does anyone have any insight to this?

Is my Apple Watch stolen/used or my iPhone is?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 08:53 PM PST

So, I bought a series 4 from a top certified Apple seller (Aptronix) on June 2019. Couple of months back, I was casually browsing through health app and was shocked to see dozens of devices paired to my health app. I was low on memory back then and each of th e device was taking up 26MB or so. So I cleared the memory from each on of them back then and totally forgot about it until I've seen another question in sub asking about a stolen watch today.

https://imgur.com/a/guIpEbr here is the screen recording. Please help.

Edit: I just realised all of the data from each of the devices is recorded only after the date of the purchase of my iPhone (2017 June). I bought my watch on June 2018

    aluminum case + milanese band

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 01:25 AM PST

Hi, planning to buy a 3rd party milanese band to go with my aluminum case watch.

However, I read online that the milanese band could potentially cause the aluminum case to bend because it is heavier? And also that the milanese band (cause it's stainless steel) could cause the aluminum to corrode? Are those true?

    Questions before I buy?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2020 01:13 AM PST

    Hi all,

I'm looking to pull the trigger on a S5 watch. However have a few questions hoping people can help.

I'm looking to use the watch aimed a lot for losing weight, and tracking steps aswell as music whilst doing so.

    1. Is anyone from Australia and use Telstra for Cellular? It says they don't support 4g on watch until 2024, is this a deal breaker?

    2. To access music and track walks etc, do I need cellular?

    3. Is Cellular worth it? I'm Oncall for work every 2 weeks, so would be good to always have access to p hi be and not need to take phone.

    4. Are they comfortable for long use of overweight? I have to buy online as Apple does not stock the XL band in stores.

    5. Can I buy the XL band any where else? Cannot seem to find it on Apple AU?

    Thankyou in advance
