how can I edit a picture not in the Photos library?? Posted: 03 Nov 2019 01:39 AM PDT I have thousands of pictures, still to be analyzed and categorized. I ma new to to iMac, so I am still not familiar with anything! :P i am using Apollo One as a viewer, which works wonderfully. I am not loading each of my pictures in Photos, because I feel it will really become a mess. So... i am slowly have a look at my photos, delete the worst, make a selection and then, I plan to load on Photos library just the final selection of each photo set. but, as far i understood, you can use the (excellent) Photos editor only if a picture already is in the Photos library... is there a way to make a thing such as "right click" on a file and "open with" Photo editor this file?? otherwise, is there another convenient way to edit a single photo? thanks! Is there a way to set a default language audio in the Apple TV app? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 05:38 PM PDT I don't usually watch dubbed versions and every time I open the app to resume watching I have to set it again [link] [comments]
Not enough disk space for updates? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 11:28 PM PDT So recently I have been having an issue with updates (either App Store or System) where it will tell me I don't have enough disk space. I never ran into this before, so did I screw something up when I updated to a clean installation of Catalina? Below is my screenshots of the error and my two volumes I have for Catalina. New Music (iTunes) external hard drive - Questions before I start moving files. Posted: 02 Nov 2019 03:51 PM PDT When I first set up iTunes, I had everything arranged by Genre>Artist>Album>Song. Over time, iTunes re-arranged my work - some by by artist only, some stayed in original Genre folders, and some went to iTunes Media folder. I'm assuming that was because I clicked "Keep Music Media folder organized" in the preferences... not really sure why. So.. my goal is to store all the music on and only on the new external hard drive, to still use the ""Keep Music Media folder organized" to eliminate duplicates, and have a file tree that stays reasonably neat and easy to add music to. (note: the "Copy files to Music Media folder when adding" is NOT clicked. Before I start moving files and folder to the new drive - any suggestions for best practices for organizing the files and folders - or for Music (iTunes) preference settings? Is a big folder of music with Artist subfolders at its root the best way? Anything else I should know since iTunes is now Music? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Nov 2019 04:54 PM PDT Ever since I got the Catalina update, when I've left my Macbook Pro go to sleep or hibernate, it will crash. Happens at least 3 to 4 times a day. I also have a wireless USB keyboard that constantly disconnects on with the new update, requiring multiple restarts. When it does manage to work, it will start skipping a bunch of letters. I thought it was the batteries, but that didn't work when I changed them. Anybody else having this problem? Any solutions? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Nov 2019 05:54 PM PDT So now with iTunes dead, what becomes of the iOS iTunes Remote app? I tried it and it doesn't work anymore with the Mac Music app. Anyone had any luck? [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Nov 2019 09:22 PM PDT When I plug my Blue Raspberry mic into my mac it shows the green LED (mic gets power) but the microphone is not recognized by Catalina. I've tried different cables, still doesn't work. I've been on with Apple Support numerous times, have done the PRAM/NVRAM reset and that doesn't work. My mic works just fine on my gaming pc. I use my MacBook Pro for audio editing. It is an Early 2015. Has anyone else run into this problem? It's infuriating :( [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Nov 2019 01:07 PM PDT I'm on a 2009 Mac Pro, which should the explain the El Capitan. I've been trying to get it to boot into ElCap, but when I boot using my Vega 64s, it shows nothing at all. When I boot using the stock GT120, I can see the apple logo and progress bar, which is expected, but the progress bar will advance about 2/3 of the way, then the display signal will cut and I won't be able to see anything. I'm running 2x2.66GHz quad cores, 64GB of RAM, the GT120, & a 500GB HP SATA SSD as a boot drive. Any ideas as to what's going on? [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Nov 2019 01:49 PM PDT Hey there I'd like to share a tip here. Back in the day I was a Windows person, and I loved the fact I could limit my bandwidth with Netlimiter. Its a traffic shaper application. I switched to the Mac back in 2007, and couldn't find anything remotely similar to Netlimiter in the Mac environment for the longest of times. The reason why I needed something like Netlimiter, was that a lot apps don't offer limiting up&down rates. As the most common connection in my country is ADSL, when my backup ran, the internet would just be unusable, the voip calls dropped, the iptv stuttered. But after digging around for years, I stumbled onto Network Link Conditioner, which was introduced with MacOS Lion, as part of the Xcode utilities. Hopefully someone will find this helpful. The setup/installation procedure can be found here: http://nshipster.com/network-link-conditioner/ [link] [comments]
Finder not remembering window position since Catalina install Posted: 02 Nov 2019 01:32 PM PDT This is driving me potty. I have 'Hard disks' and 'External disks' showing on the desktop. When I double-click my internal hard disk 'Macintosh HD' to open the disk in Finder the window, it will not remember the window size and position, no matter what I do. I have the same problem on both my MacBook Pro and iMac after installing Catalina. Is anyone else having the same issue? If not, what on earth have I done? The Finder has remembered it's size and position in every previous version of macOS I've used. [link] [comments]
How to clean out system storage? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 11:16 AM PDT On my MacBook, I have a 128gb SSD which 72gb of is system storage. Is there anything I can do to reduce that amount? There doesn't seem to be any way for it to let me delete anything under that section. Help, please. [link] [comments]
Is Photos really bad at Raw files? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 01:20 PM PDT I just picked up my DSL after several years and shot about 30 test images. Both my Camera a Canon 40D and Mac a late 2011 are long in the tooth but, I used to do much more image editing with the same Raw files on a 2008 MBP without this issues I'm having with Photos. Previously I used Aperture and it was really nice. I could do a first pass through 300 images in less than 2 hours. With Photos every image has a multi second delay before I can even adjust a slider. I know Aperture was a Pro app but, as someone on a tight budget I didn't want to deal with a monthly Adobe subscription. Any other suggestions? [link] [comments]
"Use ambient noise reduction" option in Sound settings gone in Catalina Posted: 02 Nov 2019 12:13 PM PDT I've always had this option turned off for the internal microphone because it makes everything sound terrible. After upgrading to Catalina, the checkbox for it is gone. The problem is... it's still enabled on my MBP. I cannot turn it off. Is this true for everyone else? I can't help but think this is a bug. Why would they permanently enable ambient noise reduction and not give you the ability to turn if off? That doesn't make any sense to me. Apple Support said they don't have any information on why it's gone and to submit feedback to Apple. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Nov 2019 12:11 PM PDT Hi, I have had Catalina for a few days now, and while everything seems alright so far, the omission of iTunes is really ruining the way I listen to my audio. I'm pretty old school, and still use my iPod Classic daily. In iTunes, it was easy to manage and organise podcasts, and there was an option to "skip when shuffling", and my iPod knew that podcasts were not a part of my Music library. Now, the Podcasts app wants to import all my episodes into my music library so I can see them when scrolling through Artists on my iPod. Episodes will now play when using Shuffle on the iPod too. Another issue, is that when playing one episode of a podcast on my iPod, when it finishes it will automatically play the next one. I had disabled this in iTunes because I find it annoying, but there doesn't seem to be an option to disable this now. Also, where are the podcasts saved to on my computer? There is no "Show in Finder" option, and doing a Spotlight search shows no results except old, empty folders in my iTunes Library folder. This is really annoying me, and while I know I am a minority in using a Classic, I can't understand why these pretty simple things are so difficult to change. Does anyone have any recommendations for alternatives to iTunes? It needs to have basic playback, but also be able to manage my iPod with music and Podcasts. I've tried a few (Musique, Vox, Clementine, Elmedia Player) and none even come close to fitting the bill. Unfortunately, the most recent version of iTunes is also disallowed on Catalina. Thanks guys.
