Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion - What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend? - November 04, 2019

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 08:10 PM PST

Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!

As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default.

Looking for a 2 player asynchronous RTS or similar game

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:07 AM PST

    Hi.

I'm looking for a nice strategy game on iOS. something like Advance Wars or something, but with asynchronous play. Meaning, I do a turn, and a few minutes later, my buddy can make a turn. because we're both very busy, a game would go a bit longer but would suit us both.

anyone have any idea? I can't find anything on that, nor do I know where to look.

    Thanks a lot!

Can’t pair Xbox Elite Controller 2 to iPhone

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:26 AM PST

I've got iOS 13.2, Bluetooth is on, controller is in pairing mode (blinking rapidly) but the iPhone doesn't see it.

Same thing on an iPad Pro.

Does this happen to anybody else? Do we need to wait for an iOS update or something like that?

Looking for the name of a puzzle game i had

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:28 AM PST

The game had a bunch of levels presented as squares on a big tilemap. Once you completed a level, levels next to the one you just completed would unlock. The levels required you to use your phones built in funcions such as, brightness, volume and screenshots to complete the levels. Kind of like the new Brain Out game but without the ads and stuff. I cant remember if it was paid or free.

The games background was always black and very simplistic. The levels (squares) had different colors and slightly different shapes (if i remember correctly). You would need to scroll around the tilemap to locate all the levels. I remember one level which required you to turn your brightness all the way up to turn on a lamp.

The game was really good and it would be nice to find it again. Thanks in advance!

    Group-oriented PvE Games?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 06:08 PM PST

I love PvE-oriented games where you can fight computer-controlled monsters and bosses in a team with other players. I like it even more when you have special abilities to support teammates, and you have to work cooperatively to win the fights. I find it kinda boring if everyone is doing their own thing and just trying to do damage, without any need to work with their group members.

I particularly enjoy MMORPG-style raids and dungeons, but I want to look at other genres since I'm probably already aware of most of the MMORPGs on mobile. I've been trying to find a mobile game that has team-oriented PvE content, but thus far I haven't been able to find very many - most seem to feel too much like you're playing solo and don't encourage much teamwork.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    All-time best games?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 12:48 AM PST

Since iOS 13 now enables DS4 compatibility, I've recently started to scavenge for great iOS games. However, almost all games on the app store are literally pay-to-win games and that is so frustrating. I'd rather pay for a paid game once and not have any micro transactions after.

    Any great games to suggest?

On another note, I like games similar to "Human: Fall Flat" on iOS.. any tips?
