iPhone and Apple Watch combo - there should be a synchronized ringtone! Posted: 02 Nov 2019 05:57 PM PDT I usually don't have my iPhone AND Apple Watch out of silent mode but did today and happened to get a call. I was kind of jarring to hear my iPhone chiming one thing and my Apple Watch playing a totally different sound - both default ringtones. How cool would it be if iPhone knew both devices were not in silent mode and when a call comes in their sounds came together to make one single song/ringtone? Apple talks about (and is usually good at displaying) deep integration between devices but hearing the two radically different tones seemed very un-Apple. What do you think? [link] [comments]
iPhone ESIM situation in the UK in my own experience Posted: 03 Nov 2019 08:25 AM PST So I travel a lot, so for me, this is appealing and my next iPhone is going to have an esim so I can still use my local UK sim while travelling abroad and using a local sim for cheap data, I travel outside the EU so it is must I buy a local sim rather than paying the ridiculous UK networks price of £1 per MB, £1,000 per GB, just plain greed from the UK networks on that. SO.. Upon researching the two networks in the UK that provide ESIM capability, which is EE & O2, neither are pay as you go, which is a good market to tap into for tourists visiting to the UK, of which there are millions and more and more with esim capabillies the more time goes on. But for my own use, I don't mind having a contract, as I plan to use local phsyical sims while I travel until the rest of the world catched up to ESIM, although the prices are higher than physical sim cards, for now, for me, it will do, once the compeittion increases I can see esim prices coming down to the same level as they are for the physical sim card monthly prices of data etc. THE MAIN ISSUE right now is this. E-Sim's, I mean, one of the main points of them, is, convenience, & I guess too, this can attract customers to move over to their network, this level of convenience, to just move over to a network or if it's your first network, to easily choose a network and connect, rather than waiting for a physical sim card in the post and messing about with the pin sim tray opener etc. BUT currently, 02 on esim is like this - there is no information on prices of esim both on theri website, online anywhere or even on the phone, or if you message them via fb messenger, nothing, the only way to eveb get info on their tariff prices is to physically go into a store, and enquire. THIS is also the only way to get an esim, by physically going into a store. AND with EE, the info is very limited on their website, I cannot find anywhere where to sign up for an e sim, I think it's easier with EE I have come across the esim prices before on their website but I got lucky because further attempts to find this has not been successful, I cannot find it anymore, both their prices and also how to sign up to this, I think they maybe able to post you something out with a QR code on then you scan the QR code and you are registered with the ESIM. I am sure there is an agender here to make this difficult for customers because they are scared of this inoovative technology, but come on, if you are going to embrace it and adopt it, like 02 and EE have done in the UK, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? Who is running this setup? Some 65 year olds who know nothing about using technology to make it more convenient for the customer? If they showed prices online, allowed sign up online not in store, and sent QR codes to an email or sent a code to type in so there is no need for waiting on something being posted out, they will begin attaracting new customers with this technology. It's the future anyway so they may as well embrace it fully and be a leader in it, the current setup is a joke! [link] [comments]

Why do I feel mild shame about getting an IPhone Posted: 02 Nov 2019 03:56 PM PDT Just before I start, I'm a teen so buying a different phone is arguably the worst thing you can say. Now to get to my point, I initially started as an IPhone 3 user, went to an iPhone 6, and then jumped ship to a Galaxy 8+. Just today I jumped back and got the 11 Pro Max after a trade in. I got the Samsung because of a deal at the time and it looked really cool while IPhone just kept looking like the same thing. After I had it for those 2 years, I grew really used to it. Now I'm back on iPhone and it's really different from what I last remembered. I got the 11 Pro Max for reasons like my friends all groaning at the fact I had a Samsung and we couldn't play iMessage games and Samsung is just considered to be shitty to everyone around me, even from one of my friends who had one. Now I did do research for myself before I traded in for it. I like the camera, the sound quality, being able to use GarageBand again, and being able to play with my friends is a neat feature as well, but I miss the multitasking I could do with the Samsung. Not only that but there's also Apple and it's repair policy being pricey as hell and them also getting rid of the Taiwanese flag because of... reasons? (Their business in China perhaps?) Things just feel super different now. Is this one of those cases where I just need to adjust to the phone or is it a "you never know what you got until it's gone" type things? I surprisingly don't hate the notch either like others would. It's problematic in specific cases but it's hardly an everyday bother. [link] [comments] |
