I'm sure that I'm the asshole here, but for fuck's sake, how many posts do we need about notetaking? Congrats, you can use a program as it was intended. And how many of us can't look up a simple question using the InTeRnEt??

Anyone here for an actual discussion of things related to the iPad?

Why aren't laptops built with similar architectures to tablets? iPads are so powerful these days and they have zero fans and don't get extremely hot. But my MacBook constantly seems like it's going to explode.

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:18 AM PST

Tablets don't need fans because their CPUs (processors) have a different architecture that is more power efficient and doesn't generate as much waste heat. This is also why they are able to get 10 hours of run-time on a relatively small battery.

So why not build laptops like that?

How to get toolbar back at bottom of Pages?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 09:46 AM PST

When using Pages, sometimes the toolbar at the bottom is gone. How do you get this back? It's just a basic toolbar that takes up 1 line that allows you to Bold, Italic, Indent/Outdent, etc.

Getting the apple pencil when you're not a designer / creative professional?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:29 AM PST

    Hello my dudes,

I've been thinking about getting the apple pencil for my 11" ipad Pro, but I'm wondering if it actually makes sense for me to get:

    • I never take handwritten notes
    • I don't write, design, sketch or anything like that

Are there any other use cases where an apple pencil would be useful? Would you still recommend somebody like me to get it?

Does the Pro typically go on sale for Black Friday etc?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 12:26 PM PST

Hey! I'm strongly considering making the jump to iPad OS with an 11" Pro (coming from Android/Samsung Tab s2 9.7").

For those who have followed iPads over the years, do the Pro models typically go on sale for Black Friday, Cyber Monday or the holiday sales? Any past sales for potential comparison? I tried Google but didn't find a clear answer.

    Have a good day. :)

No app sounds from speakers on iPad Pro 10.5?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 01:53 PM PST

There is no sound from certain apps when using speakers, why is that? There is sound when using headphones, and from youtube/music app there is also sound on speakers.

    Shortcut to connect Bluetooth keyboard?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 09:33 AM PST

Is there a known shortcut that people use to connect their Bluetooth keyboard? It's a tedious process and would be made so much easier with the shortcuts app! What do we know?

    Ipad pro 11" question

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 03:28 AM PST

On Apple's website, you can clearly see, in the TV and Video section here - https://www.apple.com/ipad-pro/specs/ , that the ipad pro can display different video formats, such as 4K, 1080p, and 720p, at 30 frames per second.

After searching online, it seems that the same ipad pro has a 120hz refresh rate, and that the game Fortnite, is playable on the ipad at 60FPS.

It can also record at 60FPS.

Can you actually watch a video online at 60 frames per second or no ? It's crazy how i couldn't find any answer to this question online, and i find it so weird that on apple's website it says only 30FPS...

Thank you in advance for each person taking the time to respond :)

    Tabletop RPG Apps for DMs

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 04:33 AM PST

I am currently building out my own campaign in D&D and with the abuundance of note taking app posts here, I was curious if anyone had a good combination of Dungeon Master apps. I want to see if I am able to build the entire campaign on the ipad, so encounters, characters, monster tables, and maps. The geek and sundry article about this was a bit old and mixed platforms. I started out with adobe Illustrator for maps and Dunheon Master 5 for story building. Any other good apps or replacements?

Logitech Slim Combo ~ Scratching bezels?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:53 AM PST

    Hi all,

I got an iPad Air 3 couple days back and I'm using the Slim Combo from Logitech. Just concerned about it might scratch the bezels if I switch it in/out. Keyboard and protection is nice, but sometimes it all feels quite heavy.

I've considered the smart keyboard, but side protection concerns me a lot (scratching and such, but mostly the dreaded... crack!)

    • Will the Slim Combo scratch my bezels when taking in/out?
    • Any horror stories using the Smart Keyboard / Smart Folio? # Referring to scratches, cracks?

Open to suggestions! Thanks in advance

Looking at Jump Remote Desktop, any alternates to consider?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:38 AM PST

    Hi All

I'm just about to look into buying Jump desktop to be able to access my work windows pc and personal iMac from my iPad Pro while being remote. I see it's currently £15.99 in the App Store, I just wondered before I purchase it if I should consider anything else?

I have read reviews and it seems like a good app and seems fairly straight forward to setup as well.

Appreciate any advice before I commit to buying it.

    Thank you

    Refreshing apps/pages?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 05:44 AM PST

I just recently upgraded to an iPad Pro 2018, because my 9.7 iPad just wasn't suitable for multi tasking anymore, as pages in safari would refresh after being in the background for more than a couple mins, and apps in the background would shut down after a couple mins as well, making multi tasking a pain.

Fast forward to today, and I'm having the same problem with my new iPad Pro.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Photoshop for iPad sucks, get a 3rd party alternative

    Posted: 03 Nov 2019 09:35 PM PST

I was so hyped originally, but I instantly figured something was wrong when the layout of Photoshop had only half the icons and top taskbar menu was nonexistent. I'm not a heavy Photoshop user, but when basic tools and features like magnetic lasso tool, pen tool, quick selection, channels and work paths are missing, welp, 5here goes my dreams of an iPad being my daily driver.

    Best one-handed case?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 12:04 AM PST

I'm looking for the best case to hold my future iPad Pro 12.9" one-handed, vertically. There are a lot of little straps that wrap around tablets and iPads, such as the XBand: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DNML2FI/ But it seems like that would press on the buttons while trying to use the device, and also I would need a second case to switch between when I want to use it on a table. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T4M1B6P This ZToTop case has a strap on the back, and the ability to use it on a table, but I haven't seen anything else like it, and I'm wondering if there are other options. Thanks!

P.S., would getting a laptop sized pelican case be the best way to keep iPad from bending in a backpack? I don't imagine it would bend while I'm using it unless dropped, in which case it's probably screwed anyway.

Could anyone let me know if iPadOS 13.2 has enabled Magic Mouse 1 or 2 scrolling to work ?

Or what mice would work well for this feature ?

    Thanks !!
