    Despite the general agreement on this sub-reddit (as far as I could see) against using an iPad Pro for academic referencing/writing, I have decided anyways to buy an iPad Pro 12.9" 256 GB.

    I'm really excited! It's the first Apple product that I buy from their store (I had bought second hand an iPhone 6s before, so I guess this is my first "real" purchase).

    If you guys have any suggestions on apps to write on, I'd be very grateful :) Also thank you all for the advice you gave other people on this sub-reddit! It really helped me to balance the pros and cons and know what I'm getting for what I'm paying. Do you think I made a good choice?

    P.S. I'm hopeful somebody will create an app that can allow to write and reference easily on iPad. I think I'm fine by copy-pasting the references from Zotero into the Word Document in the meantime.

    Battery life update: So from my post yesterday day I would like to say setting my iPad Pro 11 brightness to half made the battery life increase insanely. Yeah nvm no battery replacement needed.

    ipad 2018 128gb vs ipad air 2019 64gb?

    Hello, I need a new tablet. I had bought an android tablet but had to return it because I couldn't bear how slow it was. Anyway, in my country, the 2018 128gb tablet costs 420 dollars while the 64gb air costs 540.

    I am torn up between the two. My original budget was 250 dollars and devices over 500 are a big investment for me already. I will use it to take notes at uni, Netflix, music, movies and to show videos to my students. I primarily game on my desktop, though I might do some light gaming on it occasionally.

    Is the air that much better than the 2018 version? Is the 2018 iPad future proof? Is the screen of the air much better than that of the 2018? I like the storage capabilities of the 2018, I travel quite a lot and would like to save movies on it, as well as online books, study materials and so on. I am also considering getting apple pen, I might find it useful.

    Hey everyone,

    im planning on buying an ipad for studying which is going to be my first apple product. Therefore i dont know how a lot of things work and dont work on ipads, that's why i hope you guys could help me out before i make a wrong choice. I want to take notes on notability (also edit pdfs, doesnt have to be the same app) and later upload those notes AND pdfs on my onedrive, so i can open them on my windows pc or laptop. I've searched a bit here and there, but still am confused. Is it possible to upload pdfs / notes from ipad on my onedrive and also download pdfs from it onto the ipad?

    Anyone else have this smart keyboard glitch on iPadOS?

    Ever since updating to iPadOS on my iPad Air 2019, I've noticed that if I put the iPad to sleep by closing the keyboard on it (I use a Logitech slim combo that uses a smart connector), more often than not, it doesn't work when I reopen the iPad. I have to reconnect it to get it to work. If I put the iPad to sleep with the power button, it's usually ok.

    Anyone have the issue? Can't seem to find much about it online.

    iPad Mini 5 audio redirecting case?

    Hey everybody,

    I recently picked up an iPad mini 5 on a good sale. Really enjoying the size since I gave iPad 10.5 Pro to my wife to use. Well, I was so used to the 4 speakers on the 10.5 pro and dual side speakers on my iPhone 8 Plus that using the mini 5 left me lackluster on the audio sound stage due to the audio coming from one side.

    Cupping the bottom with my hand helps. Which got me thinking, I know some manufacturers design cases to redirect the audio towards the user. I searched Amazon and BestBuy nothing seems to be for mini 5.

    Does someone know of one that I overlooked during my search?

    I have been using CADMATE for drafting designs on the go but changed from one iPad to another an the app no longer works. Are there any good CAD apps out ther that don't cost an arm and a leg?

    Alphabetical Keyboard in Numbers does not show the switches on the top row

    In Numbers, different kind of keyboard pop up based on what type of cell is currently selected. For example, if a cell is set to be numbers, then the keyboard will transform to a numpad for easier number input, and on the top row you can switch the keyboard to other modes: ABC, 123, date and time, and functions (=). But if I tap ABC to switch to normal keyboard, then there is no way back, the top row selection bar disappears (or only shows the word predictions if you turned it on). I don't know if anyone here has this problem, this is quite annoying and I cannot find anything online mentioned this bug.

    I use iPad pro 10.5 with iPadOS 13.2

    I never used Numbers on ipad before so I don't know what was it like.

    Is there any company selling small strips of material to protect the Apple Pencil from scuffing 2018 iPad Pro?

    This is referring to the 2018 iPad Pros being scraped by it's own magnets with the second generation Apple Pencil.

    It seems like the obvious solve to what seems like a common problem is to just put a piece of rubberized tape or silicone with adhesive on the pencil or iPad to avoid these scuffs.

    I'm going to just do this by myself because it wouldn't be complicated to create (other than cutting nice, round corners to look better), but I feel like it's a solution I should see more on Amazon.

    Are any of you using anything to avoid the scuff marks, embracing them, or somehow don't get them at all?

    Coding in C/R/Ocaml on an ipad?

    My beloved MacBook Pro is having some serious (and expensive) hardware issues and I'm considering having it replaced instead of fixed. I love the look of the newer ipads, especially how sleek taking notes on them seem to be, and think having it as my main computer would be a nice experience. However, I'm a CS undergrad and have five more weeks of a C based course, and an R and OCaml class left before I graduate. The rest of my classes are in chemistry.

    I've read about using an ipad for python and webdev, but very little about these languages. I was thinking of setting my clunky half-broken MBP up as a server at home and then somehow SSHing into it to do homework. I'm comfortable with vim as an IDE.

    Does this sound feasible? I'm not picky about keyboards, but my courses are demanding and I will be spending a lot of time debugging. Also, does anyone have any opinions about the logevity of an iPad as a main workstation, my MBP has lasted me nearly four and a half years at this point.

    Having trouble finding high quality wallpapers

    as the title says, I am having trouble finding high quality wallpapers. I like to use the walli app, but many wallpapers just aren't high enough resolution and they don't look good on the iPad pro screen. specifically, I am trying to find a good memphis group style pattern. searching for wallpapers still left me with pixelation and artifacts. any suggestions?

    Google loads mobile version no matter what on iPad?

    Anyone notice this? All of a sudden for me today google only loads the mobile version of the site... everything is terribly spaced out across the whole 12.9" screen and safari reports it's on the desktop view as default. Toggling the mobile/desktop option does nothing. It's all the rounded corner outlined boxes around results.
