[Beta] Snapback 2.0.1 (with support for unc0ver's substitute) Posted: 06 Nov 2019 11:42 AM PST Hi r/jailbreak! As you may have noticed, SnapBack is currently broken on the substitute version of unc0ver (which is currently the only jailbreak for A12 devices that supports any recent versions of iOS). This happens because SnapBack works by mounting an APFS snapshot, then using a utility called "rsync" to replace all files on your filesystem with the files from the snapshot. This is usually a great idea, however, there comes to be a problem when SnapBack replaces one particular file on substitute-based unc0ver. That file is /usr/libexec/xpcproxy, and when it is deleted on a device that's running substitute-based unc0ver, even if its only missing for just an instant, every process on the phone dies. This, ofc, includes rsync itself, so the app would appear to "freeze" and never finish. The reason I'm saying all this is because I have particular experience with this as Succession also uses rsync and also had this issue. MidnightChips has gone on a sabbatical and won't be back until 2021. As you have hopefully noticed, I am not MidnightChips. However, a few weeks ago, I accidentally discovered that I have push access to the snapback git. I have now pushed my changes (its a tiny fix but it took forever for me to figure out), and I am now looking for 2 people on A12 unc0ver and 1 person on A11 or older as a control. I have tested this on both device types however I want to be overly sure that this works for everyone before I release as I am essentially releasing someone else's product, and I don't want to hurt midnightchips' reputation. Edit: I now have enough testers, thanks everyone. Tests are going very well so far, I am preparing to release, just waiting on a few replies. [Help] me understand a12/13 SHSH blob saving please Posted: 06 Nov 2019 02:57 PM PST I own an iPhone XS, I'm jailbroken on 12.4, and I'm trying to prepare for a jailbreak in the future. When I got the phone, I became aware of nonce entanglement messing up the normal method of saving blobs, but I kinda ignored it and postponed understanding that till a later date. Well, now is that later date, and I would like to save some blobs in order to future restore if the need arises. I'm familiar with the process on a12< but I just don't understand how to save blobs now. My understanding is that if I set my nonce generator to 0x111111111111 (idk how many 0's there's in the actual number but whatever) and then save my blobs using tsschecker app/website that they will be valid. Why is that? My understanding was that blob saving had nothing to do with the device at the time, it simply submits the information to apple and gets a reply. Then I could future restore as normal with a nonce set to the same thing as it was when I saved the blobs (0x11111111111) and it should be fine?? Posted: 06 Nov 2019 06:58 PM PST Would it be logistically possible to add an advance search/filter feature to either one of these package managers? Something that offers combined features of tweakcompatible's compatibility by ios feature with ability to search for tweaks/repos like ios-repo-updates.com and being able to group tweaks into different categories much like cydia's "All Tweaks" feature but much more accurate (for example all themes being in one folder instead of like 20 different theme folders) extending the search function by category/folders. Additionally provide more detailed search filters such as search/sort tweaks by developer name etc? I completely understand that what I'm asking may be a huge undertaking.
