Posted: 27 Nov 2019 10:05 AM PST The LONGEVITY of these MacBooks. I am still using the Mid 2012 MacBook (the one with all the ports and CD drive) and this thing refuses to die on me! I have not had one bad thing happen to it and despite it only being the dual core version it is still decently fast. I've upgraded the RAM to 16GB too. Also, it STILL supports the latest and greatest OS. I'm honestly shocked that a going on 8 year old laptop is still current and running perfectly fine. Good job, Apple! [link] [comments]
Should I replace new batteries or upgrade to MBP 13? Posted: 27 Nov 2019 06:18 PM PST Currently using 2016 mb with a m5 processor. The batteries have gotten "service batteries" status with sometime only charge up to 60% max. So a bit of the dilemma here, should I replace new batteries or keep using it and wait for the new 13 MBP next year? (I do like the mb a lot because of fan less and light weight tho) thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

2k or 4k? crazy confused. help needed. Looking for 32-inch monitor Posted: 27 Nov 2019 11:09 PM PST Hi all, I'm super confused and not able to decide which monitor I should get. I am planning on getting a 32-inch monitor with Macbook Pro 2018. Features needed: - 2k or more - can connect with my MacBook Pro 2018 and charge it as well with one cable - is height adjustable and can be rotated 90 degrees in portrait mode - Plan on using it for watching Netflix, YouTube, Coding, surfing the internet. Low input lag would be better but I don't plan it on playing games [link] [comments]

Experience getting a 2015 MBP battery replaced? Posted: 27 Nov 2019 09:24 PM PST I have a 13 inch 2015 MacBook Pro (pre-keyboard fiasco). It's a great machine and I would like to keep it running as long as possible. I've had it for about 4 years now and the battery is hovering around the 80% level with 400~ cycles. I have it plugged in a lot of the day too to my external display. But my question is will it need to pass some sort of diagnostics test to get the battery replaced? Or can I just pay and get it done? Macbook Pro 16" Overheating on startup. Posted: 27 Nov 2019 05:10 PM PST Hi, I recently got the new 16" MacBook Pro. I found recently that it is overheating for no reason. One particular event that I can recreate was after turning on from a shutdown, or a restart. If left on the log-in screen the computer will get really hot, sometimes the fans will go full blast and then after 5 minutes it shuts off. I called apple and went through the process of reseting my SCM controller as well as re-installed Mac Catalina, however I was still able to recreate the problem. They booked an appointment for an in store session to troubleshoot however Im curious If this has happened to anyone else, or anyone else can try with their MacBook 16 or not since it could be software. Also I am in the 14 day return period and I am debating just returning it but I have so much work and school that I don't know if I can be without a computer while I wait for a new one. My config is i9 2.4ghz - 1tb - 5500M 8gb-32gb ram [link] [comments]
Question about screen resolution Posted: 27 Nov 2019 07:46 PM PST I have a 2015 MBP 13 inch and Google says that the resolution on this is 2560x1600. However, when I go to the display settings to change the scaling, the default scaling says that it looks like 1280x800 and the "more space" setting looks like 1680x1050. I might be dumb but shouldn't the default say that it's 2560x1600 and the more space option be even higher? Or am I missing something here? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Do you think Apple will ever go back to user modifications/repairs? Posted: 27 Nov 2019 07:38 PM PST On my mid 2012 MBP I've been able to upgrade to an SSD of whatever size I wanted, upgrade my own RAM. I've replaced the thermal paste on my CPU, replaced my battery and trackpad as well as some other ribbon cables. It's quite easy to take apart and modify or clean/service easily. Do you think this will ever happen again? Or do you think the trend of non-upgradable components will continue? [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Nov 2019 11:39 AM PST Hi, I have a problem with lag and flickering when watching videos on YouTube. Every now and then, like, every 10 minutes, the video pauses with the audio still playing, and after a few seconds, the video continues to play again, only to be de-synced with the audio. When this happens, pressing the left arrow key to rewind it back is like the only comfortable way to fix it, other than reloading the page. I have clean installed the OS back, tried Firefox and Chrome, but the issue persists. Anyone with the same problem? Whats your fix? Could it be a faulty component? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Nov 2019 01:44 PM PST Hi I'm planning on getting a macbook air on Black Friday. I was just wondering how much storage I'm going to need. I'm only using it for college, netflix and casual browsing. My school gave us a free office 365, so storing papers isn't a problem. My current laptop I'm only using 50 gb but it's a windows so I'm not sure how things work on Mac [link] [comments]

Is this a good deal? 2017 MBP 15 inch. 256GB SSD. 16GB RAM. AMD Radeon Pro 555. $1000 Posted: 27 Nov 2019 11:19 AM PST Found this on Craigslist and it seems to be the lowest price I can find for something like this. I'm looking for something above stock integrated graphics and a quad-core processor. I'm upgrading from a 2014 Base Macbook Air 13 inch. (1.3 Ghz dual-core, intergrated graphics, no retina display, 4 GB RAM, 128 SSD) [link] [comments]
Problems with Macbook Air 13 Inch 2014 Model Posted: 27 Nov 2019 10:48 AM PST When I close it it immediately disconnects from the internet. I however need it to keep running things even when I have closed it, where in the settings can this be achieved? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Nov 2019 10:40 AM PST I have only ever had PCs but my Yoga isn't cutting it for work anymore. I decided to invest in an iPad and MacBook as I knew I could get a great deal this time of year and can use the Sidecar feature as a double screen and I have an iPhone. I've been trying to decide between the MacBook Air and Pro and can't quite figure out what is best for me. I just bought the new iPad Air 256gb on eBay for $399 which is less than I had planned on spending so I have some wiggle room in my budget for the MacBook. I run some pretty robust software, do basic screen share videos and editing (think YouTube tutorials), usually have 15+ Chrome tabs open at a time as well as several apps and messaging. I know I don't need the new MacBook 16 but have read the keyboard is a major improvement and will be likely introduced on the new 14 inch next year. Is it worth getting an older model now and upgrading to the 14 or should i just invest in what I need now? If I do go older model, which one? Any help would be much appreciated! Posted: 27 Nov 2019 10:25 AM PST Hey, my mom just find her old Ibook laptop, I was wondering if it's worth keeping? maybe it will be a rare item one day, do you know if I could get any money out of it right now? [link] [comments]
Macbook pro 13 worth buying rn? Posted: 27 Nov 2019 08:49 AM PST I've seen a post saying that the macbook pro 13 would get a new release in the first half of 2020, getting the scissor switch keyboard. I want to buy the macbook pro 13 2019 in Black Friday but since watching that post, I'm having doubts. What should I do? (I mostly need the laptop (rn using an old windows laptop), so probably cant wait) [link] [comments]
I want to purchase a new Mac book pro. What’s the best way to purchase on credit? Posted: 27 Nov 2019 08:44 AM PST I know, I know I'm gonna hear it...don't put it on credit...but the Best Buy Card gives me no interest for 18 months...but no cash back :( [link] [comments]
Has this ever happened to your Macbook? Posted: 27 Nov 2019 07:03 AM PST https://snipboard.io/YLP3IM.jpg In the red circle, there is a small horizontal line. At first, I thought it was a smudge, but when I went to scrub it, nothing came off. I then realized it was part of the screen ... except, on every other tab in the browser, the dash didn't appear. Only on the one tab where I was at this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/e1tral/macbook_hinge_design_overlooked_and_criminally/ I closed and opened the tab ... and it's no longer there. Any ideas as to what might have happened? [link] [comments] |
