Posted: 02 Nov 2019 08:51 PM PDT Hi, I have a early 2015 Macbook Air 120gb SSD with macOS Catalina. The system won't boot. It shows the login screen after boot, but after entering the password it gets stuck on about 1/4 of the loading bar and then shuts down shortly after. I can boot into recovery mode. I have tried using the disk utility "first aid" but it found no errors. When attempting to restore from time machine backup, after unlocking the hard drive it hangs at "Searching for Time Machine backups...". When I select reinstall macOS, and accept the licence it fails because there is only 14gb free on the hard drive (it says it needs another 4.76gb). When I boot into online recovery mode, nothing happens after I select the wifi network, it just hangs there forever with the spinning globe. I think I should be deleting some files to reinstall macOS using the command line. I've tried several examples online but cannot work it out. I'm not mac familiar (this isn't my PC) Thanks [link] [comments] |
Has anyone found a way to delete the correct .plist file on Catalina? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 09:39 PM PDT I have a damaged battery with the "Replace now" warning. After some research I believe that's what causing it to be so slow. I followed the instructions to delete the MacbookProx,x.plist file. The thing is my model identifier is 12,1 and I cannot find it on the folder. Is there another way to fix it, at least? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Airpods Pro on iPhone 6 Plus? (iOS 12) Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:07 PM PDT As far as I understand, Apple has stated that the Airpods Pro require iOS 13.2 and don't list the iPhone 6 Plus as compatible with the Airpods. Can the Airpods Pro work at all on the iPhone 6 Plus, even if it's just through bluetooth like it does on Android phones? I really want these as I had fitting issues with the original Airpods but don't really want to shell out money for a new phone just to use them. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:04 PM PDT just got my new iphone 11 pro and its very sluggish compared to my 8+. it cant keep up with my typing sometimes and stutters when flipping through the home screen/different apps. is there any way to fix this? [link] [comments] |
I can't take screenshots using a non-mac keyboard? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 07:48 PM PDT So, I like mechanical keyboards and therefore am using a Logitech G413 Keyboard with my Mac desktop. I cannot get screenshots working on this keyboard. The normal key combination to take screenshot would be CMD+Shift+3 or 4. Using a non-mac keyboard should be Windows Key+Shift+3 or 4, but this results in absolutely nothing. Help plz. I refuse to use anything other than a mechanical keyboard. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7+ Battery Replacement? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 07:34 PM PDT Got my hands on an iPhone 7+ recently and everything works fine but the battery is a little weak. I checked on my settings and the battery health is at 85%. Would getting a new replacement battery from Apple help the life of my phone? Or is it because of software issues that's draining the battery? Anyone who has actually gotten a replacement battery, has it helped in the long run? Appreciate any tips and suggestions. Thanks. Recovering note that I forgot password to Posted: 02 Nov 2019 07:27 PM PDT I switched to a new iPhone today and now it won't let me use Face ID to access an old note that I stored a lot of important information on. I've been trying for the past 5 hours to unlock it and I can't figure out anyway. I really need help to unlock this as I had a ton of very important stuff on there. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:39 PM PDT Has anyone else noticed a dumbing down of Siri? 3 weeks ago, I used to be able too say "Hey Siri, play mellow, shuffled, repeated" and it would play my Mellow playlist, shuffled and on repeat. About 2 weeks ago, I would then get "I'm sorry, I can't do that right now." Four a moment, I thought "Maybe I added a song called Mellow?" Nope, didn't do that. So then I said "Hey Siri, play mellow playlist, shuffled, repeated" it worked. Then last week, Siri said "I'm sorry, I can't do that right now." WTH? Eventually, I tried "Hey Siri, play playlist mellow, shuffled, repeated" and that worked. What is happening there? Why did it work once without the word "playlist", then I had it add it in on the end, then I had to move it to the front. It's really an irritating thing. I also noticed a similar thing with Reminders. "Hey Siri, set a reminder, 40 minutes, get laundry." Would work perfectly. Now it says "Ok, I've set your reminders for Today' with no time reference. Now I have to say "IN 40 minutes" otherwise it ignores the 40 minutes altogether. For something, that we're told, is supposed to learn from our behaviour, it's doling quite the opposite and becoming dumber by the week! I would REALLY like to get this kind of feedback to the developers. [link] [comments] |
Macbook A1278 very low fps when below 80% and not charging. Any ideas on how to fix it? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:16 PM PDT My mac has had this problem for a month so I replaced the battery since I thought the problem was because the battery was over 1500 cycles but it's still lagging when not charging. It also doesn't use the fan anymore compared to before the problem happened. [link] [comments] |
Just a small kernel panic, but a recurring one Posted: 02 Nov 2019 09:39 PM PDT Hi all! Been getting this specific kernel panic for the past couple weeks no matter what I do.. Help? 2019-11-02 23:15:37 Kernel Panic (5 times) I'm pretty sure I just deleted everything Telestream from my computer, but.. Any idea how to be sure? And if Tuxera is an issue, how do I fix it? Screenshots and Screensharing doesn't work (Catalina 10.15.1) Posted: 02 Nov 2019 05:47 PM PDT [RESOLVED] Hi there, I use an external program to take screenshots called Lightshot found in the Appstore for MacBook, and after I updated to Catalina it doesn't work. Whenever I try to take a screenshot, all it does is show me my background - Not even with any folders or documents that I have on there. This is very annoying, as I frequently use it when studying.Yes I know I can use cmd+shft+^+3, but Lightshot allows me to only copy the already cropped image and not need to save it. This is also an issue with Discord, if I try to Screenshare with people. It just shows my background, again empty. Any help is appreciated :) [link] [comments] |

Apple Genius messed up and my photos are gone...is there any recourse? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 08:39 PM PDT So, long story short, my screen shattered, I went to the apple store, genius went through my iPhone, I'm pretty sure he turned off photos in the iCloud section, so that my iCloud backup would happen faster (I had not backed up my iPhone prior to this) He backed it up, then got me the new iPhone, and wiped the old one. I went home cause I was running late, I'm at home, I download the sync that completed earlier today...and I'm missing 6 months worth of photos...huge life events, important documents for my work, etc. Question is, I'm guessing it's just dead and gone. Am I entitled to any compensation from apple? Or did one of their employees screw up majorly, and I'm now out a LOT of stuff, like I can't begin to assess the damages, and nothing happens as a result of it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Nov 2019 08:12 PM PDT If I turn icloud photos on my iphone on does it also turn it on automatically on my ipad? Situation is the new update seems to have frozen my ipad in a constant boot and reboot phase, I have photos on my ipad that are not in the cloud that I do not want to lose if I restore my ipad, because the software updated method through the desktop does not work either. If I turn it on on my phone will it do it to the ipad and then pull the photos from the Ipad to the cloud without me doing anything? Hopefully this makes sense. [link] [comments] |

Iphone 11 Rebooting and Glitching Posted: 02 Nov 2019 04:02 PM PDT Hi all, Well i bought my iphone 11 on September 21st. Until this Thursday I had no problem, then started to freeze and rebooting alone. Friday I upgraded to ios 13.2 hoping to fix some kind of bug, but it continued. Yesterday I ended up resetting to factory settings and backing up from icloud which didn't solve the problem. It doesn't matter if i'm using reddit , browsing web, instagram or something else the iphone just freezes and starts rebooting ( some times Glitching).I wonder if anyone knows if it's a software or hardware issue. Can no longer find the update section on the App Store Posted: 02 Nov 2019 07:40 PM PDT It's no longer present on my account page. It just randomly disappeared yesterday. I'm on iOS 13.2, iPhone 6s and have tried restarting my device. Using haptic feedback also doesn't work as it just directs me to my account page without the update section. This is what my account page looks like now: https://imgur.com/a/DNgyZ03 [link] [comments] |

Battery capacity health dropped Posted: 02 Nov 2019 07:09 PM PDT Does anyone who have iPhone 11 Pro Max, used the phone moderately and recharge the phone when it drops to 20%, does your battery health dropped to 99%? How to deal with missing original "files" Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:45 PM PDT |
Apple Music Sync Library Question Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:18 PM PDT This is a long one, so sorry about that. TL;DR at the bottom. So basically we've never used Apple Music before (did a trial a while ago and that was it) and have been wondering if we should actually be doing it since we buy a bunch of music from the iTunes Store anyway. Apple Music has been offering another 3 month trial recently and we thought, "what the heck let's just try this again." One major motivation for this is that a lot of our songs are from old CD's that are only accessible by plugging the device into our iMac (which screws up a lot of things - more on that later). There are a couple different people in the family, and we've made this work by all signing into our own Apple IDs for iCloud on the devices themselves. However, we are all signed into only one person's Apple ID for iTunes and the App Store so that when we make purchases, it's through that one Apple ID and we can all access them. (Yes I know about Family Sharing - we're technically lined up for that too but I'm pretty sure they started that way after we dug ourselves into this mess so there's no backing out now lol.) So anyway basically that means we all have our own playlists that are device-specific that we're (or at least I am) very protective of. (Pretty sure this situation is the reason that whenever I plug my iPhone into any computer it removes almost all songs from my playlists because I don't "own them??" It basically means that if I wanted to get a song off a physical CD from the iMac and put it on my phone it ruins my entire music situation. Serious bummer but it's never been too big of an issue.) Anyhoo we signed up for this new trial and were excited about being able to access tons of music without having to plug anything into anything else because that's always so catastrophic. So we go to add a song to an existing playlist and it's like "ahem you need to turn on Sync Library." Now I had heard about Sync Library before signing up for the trial and read that it was a terrible idea - stuff about downloading one's entire library onto one device and ruining storage, etc. So I guess what I'm getting at is what does Sync Library even do? I turned on Sync Library for like ten seconds and saw that it started uploading something (what the heck was it even uploading?) and immediately turned it off after I got scared of what it was doing. We could all already access the same music library beforehand and the only thing that doesn't sync is our playlists (which is awesome - I don't want them to). I'm scared that once I turn on Sync Library it'll make all our playlists the same or delete all the songs from our library that we supposedly "don't own" or something ridiculous like that. Anyone who gets either our situation or what Sync Library does? Thanks in advance!! TL;DR: what the heck does Sync Library do for Apple Music? Each of us has our own playlists by device and is signed into the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store, so we already have access to the same music library and everything. I'm scared of what Sync Library might do to our current, stable (awkward, yes, but stable) situation. [link] [comments] |
Are there still any advantages to an iCloud back up? Posted: 02 Nov 2019 06:08 PM PDT If you have iCloud turned on most apps both from Apple and third party, already save content on iCloud. That being the case I was wondering if there are still advantages to an actual iCloud backup? [link] [comments] |
