iPhone 11 RhinoShield SolidSuit Carbon Fiber Case Reviewed & Compared Posted: 29 Oct 2019 08:48 AM PDT The RhinoShield SolidSuit is a premium quality protective case that offers great protection and impact resistance due to its shock absorbent design. Full review: After unboxing and inspection of the RhinoShield SolidSuit, I first noticed the honeycomb shock absorption structure inside the case and which is quite impressive. You almost get the thought of "sure, I could drop my $800+ phone in this sucker, no problem" thought in your mind. The material is made of a "NEXT GEN MATERIAL" which is a unique polymer by RhinoShield. It's hard to explain but the case is very sturdy and rigid around the outside, yet still flexible to bend and twist. The carbon fiber design (yes, design, not real fiber) looks really nice, although I wish it was a real fiber weave and perhaps wrapped all the way around the case rather than just the back panel – I'm being picky here. Installing the case is fairly simple but requires a proper sequence of buttons first. As I stated before, the case is a bit pliable, but once the phone is snapped into place is seems as though the phone is wrapped in a solid piece of thick polymer material – it is VERY solid and protected. It fits so precisely and is so well protected that it actually takes a bit of maneuvering to pull the phone out of the case. One of the things I've heard many other reviewers and users comment on are the buttons and RhinoShield engineers focused well in this area. The button operations themselves are GREAT. They are very responsive and "clicky" almost like a physical keyboard. RhinoShield also offers customizable buttons that you can switch out for different design and color combinations which is a unique and neat feature. On the screen side perimeter of the case there is a very nice raised lip that offers good screen protection and ability to lay flat on a table - which is something I do often so I was quite pleased with. The lip is thick enough to offer to still allow a tempered glass screen protector and have space, yet it is not high enough to interfere with swiping across the screen and daily use. The case has precision cutouts for the speakers, charging ports, and mute rocker that are perfectly placed and allow for easy operation while still offering above average protection. Around the back, the cameras are protected very well by a deep channel. This easily allows you to lay the phone down without any concern at all. The rear camera protection would certainly help avoid damage during a flat rear drop, but I did not test that voluntarily myself. The carbon fiber design pattern on the back looks nice and seems that the polymer material should avoid scuffing and scratching well. Overall the case felt very nice in the hand once installed. For as much protection as the case offers I was surprised at how thin it felt to me and the fact that it really did not add too much bulkiness to the phone, IMO. I really liked the case for many of the aforementioned aspects, but after a few minutes of use on my phone I quickly noticed just how slick the case felt. In one-handed operation the case slid right out of my hand with ease. When holding in both hands it was much better to control but I still felt that the material was almost encouraging drops. I honestly wasn't trying to be overly sensitive to this but every time I picked up my phone during the day I had the RhinoShield installed, I was quickly reminded of my displeasure with the feel of it. As much as I wanted to love the RhinoShield SolidSuit, I ended up returning it for another case. Pictures of the case: https://imgur.com/a/gqMwwzZ Pros:
