    I wanted an iPad to use to take notes mostly. I work in business financing and actively manage a portfolio of commercial clients. I always used paper and found that it was hard to stay organized. Now I can keep everything organized in Notability. I bought my wife a pencil 1st gen for Christmas and she didn't take it out of the package, so it's now my pencil.

    I also travel a few times a year for vacation so I wanted a larger screen to watch Netflix and play some games. 32 GB seems like plenty of storage since I have 50GB of iCloud that I share with my iPhone XS Max.

    Ultimately I wanted a large screen, something that I can use the pencil with, play games, watch movies and not spend over 500 CAD.

    I have been reading negative comments regarding the small changes from 6th to 7th, but honestly I believe it's. good value. In real world use it hasn't skipped a beat.

    iPadOS files app very slow to load photos

    I recently upgraded to iPadOS on my 2018 iPad Pro, which I have been since the beginning of the year. I use Files a lot, mostly to store PDFs, movies (which I access through VLC), and photos. I have thousands of photos, many several MBs in size, which I maintain in the Files app as it is easier to keep them organized and search by file name.

    My issue is that these photos now take a much longer time to load. It takes about 5 seconds to load the thumbnails when opening a folder, which would not be too much of an issue if not for the fact that I can only see a low res copy. Often the size of 4K photos is smaller than the screen itself, with no ability to zoom. In the previous version of iOS, I experienced no load times and was able to view all my photos instantaneously, in full resolution.

    Any ideas as to why this is happening?

    Can anyone here recommend a PDF reader that’s compatible with the iOS Files app?

    This would mostly be for annotating PDFs (highlights). Huge plus if you can add custom highlighter colors like you can in Notability. I want to be able to pull PDFs from the Files app (I use it to access PDFs stored in my third party cloud provider) into a PDF reader app, annotate those PDFs, and then send them back to/have them sync with the Files app without having duplicates be created. Is there an app out there that does this?

    iPad Air 2 or iPad (2017)?

    I'm thinking of getting an iPad to use for university. I want an iPad that will recieve the new iPadOS update, but I'm on a budget. The two iPads that I'm interested in getting are the iPad (2017) and the iPad Air 2. I found both of them used online at a good price, the iPad 2017 being slightly more expensive. But I can't decide on which one I should get. Both seem great for the price I found them in, but the iPad Air 2 came out in 2014. It's really old. However, it does have a laminated display and I found a very good affordable keyboard case for it. The 2017 iPad doesn't have a much better display and it doesn't seem significantly faster, but it is newer so I assume it will release more updates in the future.

    Any advice on which I should get?

    Hey all,

    (Update: it's back now) but I will leave this post still want opinions on whether I should upgrade.

    I'm using an Air 2 and I had been mulling over the idea of putting iPadOS on (I'm still on 12). So, last night I took a look in the software update section of settings, and sure enough, it appeared there as available and ready to download and install. However, this morning it's gone, and simply says my iPad is up to date.

    I'm not certain that I actually do want to take the plunge just yet, but I am confused as to why it is not listed there anymore. Was it pulled from the Air 2 for any reason?

    Also, opinions welcome on pros and cons of putting it on my device.

    Anyone ditched the iPad Pro for a MacBook Pro?

    I see a lot of posts from people who have switched from the MacBook Pro to an iPad Pro but not too much the other way around. My iPad 10.5 has developed the bright spot issue and Apple will not replace this but I have the option of trading it in for store credit. I am in Between getting an iPad Pro 11 or the 2018 MacBook Pro 13 Touch Bar (2.3ghz 256gb 8gb) discounted to £1329 brand new.

    I do a fair bit of photo editing which I use my desktop for (windows + lightroom classic) but I also do some on my iPad...I also manage a wordpress website, and iPadOS has allowed elementor to almost work properly! (Missing the right click functionality). I am also planning a long trip around Europe in about 18 months time (6 months+) and feel that the portability of a Macbook would be better in the long run compared to an iPad....

    I thought I'd pose the question and see what the people of Reddit think!

    10.5” with Smart Keyboard to 12.9” (2018) without Smart Keyboard ?

    Greetings, folks. Big iPad fan. Have a 10.5, pencil, and Smart Keyboard. Favorite device to use, for sure. Use it for work (emails, calendar, notes, basic documents work) and play (Netflix, reading, web browsing.)

    I would love to get a 12.9 (w/pencil), but balk at the price for the Smart Keyboard. Is the extra screen real estate of the larger size enough to rely on the virtual keyboard and skip the Smart Keyboard? I have a small Bluetooth keyboard I could pull out when really needed, but I'm wondering if I can do without an external keyboard more with the larger screen.

    Thoughts? Input from anyone mostly using the virtual keyboard on the larger size?

    I've been to the Apple Store a few times, but a few minutes doesn't give a proper sense of life without a keyboard.

    (I'll be buying a used one for financial reasons, and some good deals can be had that don't include the keyboard.)

    I thought it was just some bug, finally talked to Apple support and iOS 13 really removed iCloud tabs. Hopefully they’ll bring it back.

    So via the files app notability has its own file under the on my iPad section. I stored my some of my school work in there and now the file seems to be deleted I have iCloud turned on and all that but I can find a place where the files would be am I out of luck finding these files?

    Best model for taking notes?

    So I was a beta tester because I wanted to use iPad OS earlier. Now that the official version of iPad OS is out I'd like to sign myself out, I'm just not sure how or if that is even needed. Would appreciate some advice.
