Anyone know how to uninstall Catalina on Macbook air?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 10:56 AM PDT

Ever since I installed it, I have had nothing but issues. My computer runs extremely slow, will glitch out and the battery life is absolutely horrible now. I use this computer for work and it has been making it very hard to work on.

    I tried following these instructions

Reboot your Mac by holding down Command + R. Select Disk Utility > Continue. Click on your Startup Disk, and select Erase. Enter the name of what should be removed (macOS Catalina).

But when I got to the startup disk, I couldn't find the "erase" option anywhere. I am not sure what to do next and really need to get this uninstalled. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Upgrading my 2015 Macbook Pro - Advice on harddrives

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 04:40 PM PDT

Need some advice on upgrading the storage for my 2015 Macbook Pro. I have 120 Gig and used 120 Gig. My Mac is running slow and it's time to do something about it. I was referred to this website https://eshop.macsales.com/upgrades/macbook-pro-retina-13-inch-early-2015-2.7-ghz/internal-drives to buy an Internal drive. I also know about cleanmymac.com but would rather increase the storage. Any advice / recommendations? I am not the best with this but can watcha a few youtube videos to learn it. Thanks

Crazy Amount of System Space Being Taken Up

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 06:47 PM PDT

I just bought a brand new 13' MacBook pro a few weeks ago. So far I haven't used it for much other than tooling around on Reddit, listening to music, and playing around on Photoshop.

Tonight, I got a message saying that I was running low on Disk Space which caught me off guard. I looked into it and realized that 87.87GB out of 121.02GB available are dedicated to 'System.' This seems crazy, right? Is there something not right here, or is this just something I have to live with?

    Someone sold me MacBook Air

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 06:03 PM PDT

Someone sold me a MacBook Air on Craigslist and everything was signed in when I went to check everything out. He told me the password was "abc" and the user said new owner" I have tried to factory reset but somehow it is still saying "disk password" and I type abc and it Works. How do I get rid of this and completely wipe everything? Everytime I restart it shows my new acct I set up, disk password , and guest

Very low CPU usage and ram on MBP 2011 but freezes

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 03:30 PM PDT

    hello,

    here is what I have

    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011) --- 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7 --- 16gb RAM - Kingston 500gb SSD which is about 30% free

AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB

Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

and I'm running Chrome and android studio most of the time. I'm not doing much on my MBP.

Problem isn't Chrome tho, If I quit chrome and use something else, (doesn't have to be a browser) it still gets laggy.

My laptop freezes a lot but I hardly pass 20% CPU use and most of the time I have 7gb of free ram.

my temperature hits 80C (176F) sometimes and when that happens my fans kick in loudly. Usually, they don't make much noise.

Edit: installed mac fan control and now my cpu doesn't pass 60C but the problem is still there.

I replaced my thermal paste last week with cooler master something.

my battery has a low cycle, less than 200

Do you guys have any recommendations to speed up or at least make my MBP less laggy? Most of the hardware on it is new. With such a low CPU use, I do not want to invest in something else.

    thanks

    Spilled milk on macbook (help)

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 02:12 PM PDT

Yesterday, I spilled milk on my macbook keyboard and now, it is still working like normal after I wiped off the milk. I didn't even have to shut down the computer and nothing wierd happened so I dont think there was any liquid damage. Fast forward to today, some of the butterfly keys were stick but I pressed on them and they now work like normal, despite having some dried milk in them. Only one of the arrow keys is stuck down and wont pop back up. Do you think I should take this macbook (15 in. 2016) to the apple store to get it checked, or is the macbook ok.

    Screen Replacement

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 12:53 PM PDT

First off im sorry if this isn't the place to be posting about this, or if I should be reading something else already in this subreddit.

TLDR: My MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) screen is broken. I need a replacement. So my question is what do I do? Like I know I can just send it to apple but is there a cheaper option (still safe) out there because my budget is tight.

Anyway, for about 2 years now my screen on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) has been broken. I had my phone sitting on the keyboard while I was watching something, I leaned forward and the phone slide and hit the bottom of the screen. Thus creating a thick black line going up the screen. At first I just dealt with it because I was in college and couldn't afford it. I mean I still cant really afford it but its getting WAY worse. So it needs to be dealt with. My question is what should I do? Should I just send it to apple and have them fix it? How much will that cost? Should I send it to a third party store and have them fix it? Which ones? Should I buy a screen myself and fix it myself? Im not really good at that stuff so probably not.

    Thank you all!!

Looking at eventually getting a MacBook. Question regarding battery life.

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 09:22 AM PDT

I'm looking to eventually get a new MacBook. The thing I'm most interested in are the recent models and how their battery life stacks up. I understand Apple has some statistics on their website, but they're pretty basic.

Does the Air really last longer than the Pro? Is it that much better in terms of battery life?

    Question about refurb unit keyboards

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 06:38 AM PDT

    Hey all,

Considering a 2018 15" MBP, but have been reading about keyboard issues.

    This article: https://www.theverge.com/2019/3/27/18284042/apple-macbook-keyboard-apology-issues-bad-design

notes that "MacBook Pro models released in 2018 and thereafter are not eligible for this program — nor is the revamped MacBook Air."

However, Apple's own Keyboard Service Program (https://support.apple.com/keyboard-service-program-for-mac-notebooks) states that the MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) is part of the program.

So - does anyone know what (if anything) Apple is doing with Certified Refurbished units? I imaging they're not simply replacing keyboards, but not sure.

Why is MacBook Pro so-so performance wise?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2019 01:49 AM PDT

So I've had a latest MacBook Pro 13" (i5) for about three months.

It's obviously a great user experience but performance wise it's a bit of a let down? The iPhone for example is super snappy whereas the MacBook...... I don't know. It's prone to stutter a little bit with multiple open windows, opening a new browser tab takes 0,5s (should be instant), if I close 30 browser tabs at once on my desktop windows machine it takes seconds vs FOREVER on the MacBook etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's still great for the most part, but for such an expensive machine called PRO I would expect a perfect lightning fast snappy experience (as with the iPhone). In reality I'm really not sure what's so PRO about it.
