- Laptop dent? Dropped phone on laptop from about two feet up and as created a dent around a millimetre deep. Noting wrong so far but worried it could affect the battery. Worth taking to the apple store?

Posted: 24 Oct 2019 10:05 PM PDT So I've customized my folders before (hence the pink) and now I'm trying to customize again, but this time, only a couple of folders would allow me to paste a new image once I get to the "get info" popup. If I hold down command+V, the icon will toggle between the new image and the pink folder image, but goes back to the pink folder as soon as I stop. I know zilch about computers so there's probably something super simple I'm missing. Any ideas? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 24 Oct 2019 03:48 PM PDT I'm not that accomplished with writing Applescripts but can't find an app to do what I want so I think a script might be able to do this: Say I have a folder with 100+ photos named IMG00001, 0002 etc. I'd like to preview each one in sequence, then have a box pop up into which I type a meaningful name. A bulk rename utility won't work for this since the names are going to be things like: "Aunt Mary in Sausalito", "Mom in Tiburon," "Joe at work" etc. and I need to see the preview of the files before naming them since the names will describe the photos. Doing this manually even in icon view is a pain because the cursor jumps all over the place, especially if you rename af file that's further down in a scroll and, post rename, it jumps up higher in the list. | macbook pro command + F feature doesn't scroll to submissions Posted: 24 Oct 2019 09:29 PM PDT i have a 2015 macbook pro and most of the time while browsing reddit, the command + F feature will show however many submissions i enter in ie. on the bottom it says 14/14 (words that match what i typed in the find feature), but will not jump to the location of those words whenever i press enter. has anyone experienced this? specifically on reddit ? | Posted: 24 Oct 2019 05:38 PM PDT Only about a third of my movies are showing in my tv app's library, while all tv shows have disappeared completely—there isn't even a tv show category for me to tap into. When I do a search on some of the purchased titles, they show up, but I can only download them or stream over wifi. I cannot play them over cellular even though my tv app setting already allows itunes video streaming over cellular data... Have you guys had your itunes purchased video content disappeared on you like this in iOS13? And why can I not stream over cellular data? What is wrong with the tv app [link] [comments]  |
| Books Playing Audio Tracks Out of Order Posted: 24 Oct 2019 09:23 PM PDT I, a fool, updated my macbook (2013 pro retina) to Catalina and now I can't figure out how to get the audiobook I'm trying to export to my phone (iphone 8) to a usable state. I have a review copy of an audio to listen to - it was sent to me as mp3s sorted by disc in the track names, which I would normally import to iTunes then convert to audiobooks then manage through iTunes, but of course that's changed now. The audio is 19 hours long and consists of 169 tracks. If I import the folder of files straight into the Books app from the folder it was downloaded in, it imports as 168 individual audiobooks and one mysterious "part" (a single track from disc 7) that won't play when synced to my phone, and that I can't actually find on the computer. I also tried importing them to iTunes, adding the metadata in there (it imports without any) then importing the edited tracks from their new location into the Books app. This resulted in one audiobook under the proper single title, but the tracks are completely out of order. As far as I can tell, you cannot edit the order of tracks in the Books app on the computer or the phone. I found the location of these files (the out-of-order Books app ones), and they are in order in the library folder. I used to use an app called BookMobile to manage audiobooks, and I tried downloading it again to deal with this. In BookMobile, you can import audiobook and music files -- it just has to live in that place on the phone. If I import it to Bookmobile app as an audiobook, it maintains the wrong order of the tracks. If I try to import them as music files, it only lets me do two at a time and doesn't show the whole track name so I can't tell what's already been imported. I am at my wit's end and can't do my work. I could try just listening through iTunes, but keeping track of my place across 19+ hours of listening in an app that doesn't save your place sounds intolerable. Please help!! [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 24 Oct 2019 08:40 PM PDT I can't seem to find a solution for this anywhere but whenever I go to open a Finder window using the icon in the dock, it defaults to opening in the far upper left corner rather than in the centre of the screen. It's such a waste of time to keep having to move it to the centre where I want it. I have a family member who has this same issue on a (similar laptop and same OS version as mine) but with Chrome where half of the window is off the screen. Does anyone know how to reset this to centre or to save a default opening position of a window, that I am unaware of. Thank you in advance! (2017 MBP 15", macOS Catalina) [link] [comments]  |

The reason I ask is because I'm trying to determine the next iPhone I want to buy and I'd like to have all the photos local. I think I can actually shave ~200GB off of my photos / videos by just cleaning up crap. But if it's almost 700GB then there's no point in getting a 512 GB Iphone if I'm going to rely on iCloud for photos anyway. [link] [comments]  |

I need to factory reset my Mac (which is currently on macOS Catalina) but there is a problem. There are two Macintosh HD drives instead of the usual one from previous versions. You used to be able to just erase the single one and reinstall, but now, with the new update, I don't know which one to erase. I don't want to mess up my computer. Then I decided to close Snapchat , because I was spooked, and and this phone symbol showed up next to my power percentage, and then it disappeared after a second too.
