    ***QUESTION about new Catalina update, Apple Music, and external hard drives***

    Hello there! I have a 2015 Macbook Air that (according to Apple's website) is compatible with the newest OS update, called "Catalina". A major part of this update is the split of iTunes into separate apps. I've used iTunes for 10+ years but am forced to do this upgrade.

    (A bit of background) I say I'm "forced" because in order to properly use my iPhone with a new recently purchased car radio (featuring Apple Car Play), I need to update my iPhone to IOS 13...and if I were to do that, I would no longer be able to sync with my High Sierra software in Macbook Air with my iPhone...(To the best of my knowledge, the Macbook Air needs to be on the latest operating software in order to properly sync if my iPhone were to be updated to IOS 13). Once I upgrade the phone software, I think I have to do the same for the Macbook Air.

    My question, I suppose, is this... Has anyone had experience downloading and installing the new Catalina update, then plugging in their external hard drive and recovering all of their music files for the new "Music" section/app in Catalina? Does your hard drive icon automatically appear on the desk top after updating to Catalina? (I should add that I have two external hard drives, one in the old FAT-32 format and a brand new one in the exFAT format; both are compatible with macOS).

    My main concern is choosing to do the Catalina update, only to find that my music files (or other iTunes files for that matter) have been moved to a "different location", disorganized, or that the hard drive (that I once used on my High Sierra 10.13.4) will not be compatible with the new Catalina update.

    I'm sorry if this post is confusing. I'm not a tech person and have been to the Apple store twice to try and get answers to my questions. This collection of files on my hard drive is very important so I need to be extremely cautious and I'm hoping reddit can help! I also only have 48 hours to decide if I am keeping the car radio I mentioned above---if I can't resolve this issue or figure out the risky hard drive business, I will most likely be returning it.

    Can someone remotely turn on your screen recording without ones notice?

    I was just putting card information into my phone while purchasing sometime online. While the site had asked for my card information, I turned over my phone to grab my card from my phone wallet/case, then when I turned it around I put my card information in.. but while I was just about finished I seen that my screen recording was on (red-time stamp on the top left of the screen was on). I ended it immediately. I looked at the recording and seen that it started exactly when I was entering my information. I don't know if I could have turned it on while turning around my phone.. but just seems unlikely. Or was it a coincidence?

    Importing media

    I'm trying to import songs from a flash drive which I pulled from a pc. I do the basic import>folder and it "processes" but only a selection of songs are there. I've sorted by date and have done this process over and over. I have updated to Catellena. How do I get all of the songs?

    Also to add songs to the iPhone (8 Plus) I want, I have to create a playlist first of those songs and the drag it to the designated iPhone. That used to not be it. Please help.

    iphone X bootloop and error 4013

    I have an iphone x with a cracked screen and it was raining pretty hard out today. Water might have gotten into my phone and damaged it somewhere. I got a bootloop and im pretty sure error 4013 while trying to restore my phone because of the bootloop. Has anyone had any experience with this problem? My thought is it is probably the power cable that might need cleaning of corrosion.

    USB hub not working after updating to Catalina

    Previously on Mojave, my Aukey USB Hub (CB-C58) is working fine when connecting my Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 via the hub. I can do file transfer, power charging etc.

    But after updating to Catalina, file transfer is not working. Power charging is ok. My phone doesn't detect the USB connection.

    If I use a direct cable from my phone to my Macbook Pro, everything works. How do I fix this?

    TLDR:

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 to Aukey USB Hub to Macbook Pro (Catalina) - USB connection not detected (power charging ok)

    I'd like it to set the computer to sleep or give me some other options maybe, but it doesn't do anything.

    The button works when I turn it on and it works when I hold it for 10 seconds to hard power off, but it does nothing with a simple press when the system is up and running.

    Searches redirect to Yahoo search engine (MacBook Pro)

    So about a week ago I noticed that all of my searches on safari using the bar at the top have been on Yahoo search engine instead of Google. I've tried doing some browsing but I haven't found a way to fix it. If anyone has any idea on how to solve this issue it would be greatly appreciated because I am getting very frustrated!     Any way to unlock Notes after a reset?

    I foolishly used Touch ID to lock a note and didn't set up a password. Upon getting a new phone I had to reset my Touch ID, and now have no access to my locked notes. On the website it says "Important: If you forget your notes password, and you can't use Face ID or Touch ID to unlock your notes, you won't be able to view your locked notes, and Apple can't help you regain access to those locked notes." but is there any known workaround or bypass that I can use to re-open my old note? Thanks

    IPad Safari Tab Issue.

    After the new update, sometimes I would swipe in a weird direction when using Safari and my tabs would disappear. I could get them to reappear with some noodling, however. Unfortunately, today I did something and the tabs disappeared and I cannot retrieve them. It is most unfortunate because I had book titles open in those tabs that I wanted to read and I do not remember what they are.

    Experiences with iFixit batteries?

    I have two 2011/2012 MacBook Pros that need replacements for their swollen batteries, but they are no longer supported by Apple. My options for new batteries seem to be iFixit, or sketchy eBay batteries. the iFixit batteries are 2-3X the price of the sketchy eBay batteries, but that may be worthwhile if they're actually reliable. Have people had good experiences with the iFixit batteries, or are they just the eBay batteries sold with a brand name markup?

    Strange problem with multiple external USB disks

    On my Late 2014 MacMini I am using an external SSD (via USB) as system disk as the internal HDD (5400rpm) wsa slowly dying.

    I have therefore the SSD connected, then another USB Disk with TM backup and a third disk with "data".

    If I reboot the MacMini with all disk connected, it never boots properly, I have to disconnected all disks except of course the system one.

    Why? Do you have an idea?

    AppleTV colors randomly become inverted

    I bought my AppleTV 4K about 3 months ago. I have it running Dolby Vision, via a certified premium cable, and such. Every so often, I've noticed the AppleTV will randomly invert the colors out of nowhere, I'd say it happens about once a week. It's nothing crazy, I just need to exit the content that playing (so it switches from SDR to Dolby Vision) and then the colors switch back to normal. But I just don't know why it's doing this. Anyone else have an idea?

    MacBook is dead every time I open it up.

    Hey guys, wondering if anyone here has experienced anything similar. I have a MacBook 13" Retina early 2015 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7. For what seems like over a year now, every time I turn my laptop on it is dead and it is annoying the crap out of me. It will be completely charged one day, I'll shut it, and the next day I get the dead battery logo when I open it up. My energy saver preferences are normal, not gonna type them out - this is my third MacBook and just take my word that I know that my preferences aren't the issue. I've looked at my diagnostics through holding down "option" > clicking the top left apple icon > system information and my battery life is normal. When it's charged and the screen is open and I'm using it, the battery life is normal, it just seems every time I open it after a day or two the battery is dead. Like I said, it's driving me insane! Has anyone here experience anything similar? Thanks in advance.

    Iphone 6 Siri not working

    My Siri used to work but a while back it completely stopped hearing my voice. Thongs such as phone calls work perfectly fine and tue settings seem fine. It will not even let me set up my Hey Siri voice command.

    Apple TV 4K Music library not showing up

    I just got a new Apple TV 4K and I added my accounts and everything, but when I goto the music app, my recently played shows up, but I can't play any of it, and when I goto my library, the only thing that shows up is "Add music to your library", but on my phone i have music in my library. Do I need to pair it some other way to have my music on the Apple TV?

    One-Click Screenshots

    Hello,

    I'm on a mid-2009 MacBook Pro running 10.11. Is there is some app or script that will take a screenshot ever time I click the mouse?

    More details about what I"m doing: I'm trying to get an image of every character of a font in the NFNT editor in ResEdit. I'm running ResEdit in the Basilisk II emulator. I have 18 fonts, and there are 256 characters each, for 4,608 images total. I have to click in the editor to advance to the next character, and then take the screenshot. It would be nice if I could at least automate the screen capturing, so I only have to click 4,608 times and not also have to hit cmd-shift-3 4,608 times.

    ForwardOpen Virus Removal

    I discovered a program called ForwardOpen on my MacBook Air a couple days ago. It seemed sketchy so I deleted it. Next day rolls around and it's there again. It seems like it's reinstalling itself. Is there a way I can find its core files to delete every trace of it? Would love some recommendations for virus removal tools or other programs. Every time I search online for other people who've had this pop up, I can't find any reliable sources to give support. Thanks in advance.

    Anyone else finding some iMessage apps not working?

    This happens pretty much every time one of my apps with an iMessage app updates. I can't open the app anymore and it seems like the only way to fix it is to delete the whole app from my phone and reinstall it. I can't seem to find anyone else with this issue because when I try to google it I just get results about the actual Messages app not working. Anyone else experiencing this?
