Huge battery life difference on Beta 6.1 Posted: 26 Sep 2019 06:02 AM PDT Bought S4 refurb last week. Disappointed by battery life. 6% drain per hour without any notifications coming through, lowest brightness, etc. Updated to 6.1 beta. And just done my 60 minute commute with 1% drain. Night and day difference. Only drawback is missing watch faces - Meridian isn't there, and no Nike Hybrids, either. [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Sep 2019 07:32 PM PDT So I was prepared to list and sell my series 4 online and to pay off most of my series 5 40mm apple watch, but then I realized that other than the always on display screen, it's the same exact watch and I don't want to be upgrading this thing every year. Other than the battery life issue (which I fixed by resetting and supposedly resolved in watch os 6.1) I thought the always on display was pretty incredible at first. I came from using the Pebble watches but over time I realized that I don't need to check my watch that often and I was just looking at more reasons to glance at it to see how cool the screen looked. My biggest thing about the always on display is that IMO the best looking always on displays don't have many complications, like numero duo. Infograph modular looks completely boring by comparison. It almost felt like I need to have something cool looking for public use (like a an analog clock if I went to a fancy event) but it feels dumb to have raise my wrist then swipe my screen to see the face I like. Raising my wrist to see the screen is also extremely fast and I realized that I don't even need the always on screen in the first place. This is when I realized that my series 4 watch is perfectly fine. I would rather wait for a more significant upgrade anyways, and the always on display to me now is more of a bonus, but not a must have feature. I might even turn off the AOD when I get the next version. I do think it's a cool feature but I honestly think it's more practical most of the time to leave the screen off if it comes down to leaving the AOD on and needing to hide your sensitive complications. Glancing to see the time is amazing, but to me it's not worth upgrading just for that and I'm more than fine raising my wrist or using the crown to check it instead. So if you have a series 4 and tempted to upgrade to 5 I honestly don't think you are missing out, but then again you can also see for yourself with the 2 week return policy :) [link] [comments]

How’s your Titanium Apple Watch holding up? Posted: 26 Sep 2019 06:29 AM PDT I've been tempted to upgrade my SB SS to the titanium. However, when I started reading that it scratches "easily" it was kind of a deal breaker for me. How's your titanium watch holding up? I know it hasn't been that long. But, there's people that already scratched it. [link] [comments]
I wasn't able to create your reminder. Sorry about that Posted: 26 Sep 2019 06:29 AM PDT I think it started with iOS 13.1. I often use Siri on my watch to create a reminder. "Remind me at 6am to grab water for work." etc. But, now it won't work. Yet, Siri can set a reminder from my iPhone no problem. I'm stumped. Any ideas? TIA. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Sep 2019 04:29 AM PDT Hi, since watch OS6 update my VO2max is not recorded anymore. I have tried to un-pair and repair the watch to my phone. I run outside for more than 20minutes (usually 1h or more) and heartrate is recorded continuously during my runs. I tried using apple exercise app or third party app (workoutdoors) and nothing seems to work. I contacted apple support and talked with someone very nice but that didn't even know that applewatch was giving VO2max estimates and that couldn't help me. Has anybody already encountered this issue (and found a solution)? Thank you for your help [link] [comments]

The Apple Watch Theory - Smart Economics over a Lifetime Posted: 25 Sep 2019 05:59 PM PDT I am new to Reddit and this is my first post. I felt it was necessary to share my thoughts after recently buying my third Apple Watch, the series 5, since product inception. I remember buying the first Apple Watch the day it came out. I remember years earlier in a cloudy, college dorm room talking to my friends about how cool the Apple iPhone was and how one day we wouldn't need phones because one day there would be an "Apple Watch." When it was announced I was ecstatic. I stood in line and bought it on day one. As I wore it the first few months for the purpose of abandoning my phone, I found the ball and chain iPhone to be quite annoying. The watch served more as a toy than a tool. As I got older and graduated college, I used my degree in both Sales and Private Club Management. I started to dress better and invest in my appearance. How you look is important, but how you carry yourself is most important. Be on time, be impeccable with your word. Always tell the truth, and always be loyal to your team. My big investments in professional appearance went primarily towards shoes and nice timepieces. Over the past ten years I've probably spent $8,000 in timepieces and I don't have a Rolex nor an Omega to show for it. I do have a nice mechanical Tag that up until a few days ago, did wear daily. I believed that wearing one watch for a long time was the smart decision. By that theory alone, that would mean that us as humans should never upgrade a computer, upgrade a phone, upgrade a vehicle, or update a washer and dryer machine. A smart watch is a lifestyle decision you have to make for yourself, but don't be dumb like me and put the Apple Watch column next to your Mechanical Watch column. The two are not the same. Here my latest theory: I've decided that the Apple Watch is a timepiece and an evolving tool I want to invest in through life. Apple will be around for the long haul. I feel like if you buy an Apple Watch it's got a three year lifespan. Then you part ways and get a new one. Let's say that's $500 and I live 50 more years. That's $8,000 better invested in latest technology vs an $8,000 watch that literally just tells time and has a crown logo at the twelve o'clock. You wouldn't hold onto a phone past three-five years, why is the smart watch any different? That's my theory and that's my outlook on the smart watch along with my complete buy-in with Apple. What I'd like to see in the long term transition: -solar powered watch -FaceTime capability -full compatibility of watch bands from beginning until end -pocket blackberry like keyboard with no screen to serve the purpose of AirPods in the sense of sending emails and texts via Bluetooth/WiFi through the Apple screen (perhaps the size of a Nintendo switch controller) -car key and house key entry app In conclusion, I'm all in for the long haul with Apple and the smart watch technology, just want to see some solar energy emerge in the future. Even the "perfect watch" tomorrow will be ready for replacement three years down the road. I hope you all enjoyed my first post! [link] [comments]
Series 4 GPS (non LTE) Notification/alert when iPhone is out of range? forgotten/left behind etc Posted: 26 Sep 2019 05:21 AM PDT QUESTION: Is there a function to enable or an app that will alert my watch when out of range or no longer connected/in signal reach to the iPhone? Bonus points if I do have the phone and forget the watch to get a phone alert. ;) Miscellaneous old man blabber below: Bought a series 4 GPS (non LTE) last week, Doctors orders. I'm a first time watch user and adapting fast, maybe to fast. Happy with the experience so far aside from one minor issue that is 100% my own fault. Due to being an old forgetful fellow and adapting too quickly to using the watch for calls and texts, I've now left the house twice and left behind the damn iPhone not realizing until far away. I've searched and the only thing I've found is an app that no longer exists (e.g. Lookout from 3-4 years ago now removed.. Not the anti-virus app). Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions. My Heart and Artery Doctor gave me the option to install a surgical implant device, or wear this monstrosity of a brick with wires all over me 24/7 for 3 months to monitor my heart rate and ECG or get the Apple watch. I chose the watch to prevent surgery or any future maintenance/complications from it. Not to mention a damn lot cheaper and I can easily email the results rather than monthly visits to pull the data logs. [link] [comments]

3-day 30 mile Hiking Trip Advice Posted: 26 Sep 2019 07:09 AM PDT Hey all. I have an Apple Watch series three and I usually need to charge the battery every 2 days. Which is longer than Apple watch says. Anyway, I'm going on a 3 day 2 night 30-mile hike and was wondering if you all had any suggestions for conserving battery life while tracking my hike. I'm going to take a charger and a battery pack to charge the watch. The watch does not need to be attached to my phone at all times so I could use airplane mode if I can still use the workout hiking app. I also realize running the app is going drain my battery more. My plan is to use the built-in workout app but I am open for suggestions. [link] [comments]

Battery drain with more than one watch. Posted: 26 Sep 2019 03:34 AM PDT Has anyone with more than one watch notice that their battery drain faster when they have multiple watches pair with their phone? I recently got my hands on 2 Series 5 watches and battery life was pretty rough, but hehe I unpaired one the other instantly got a little better. Not sure if it's because of the auto detect or not. Should I upgrade a new Series 3 to WatchOS 6? Posted: 26 Sep 2019 04:51 AM PDT Basically I will be receiving a new Series 3 today and just wanted to ask about the performance and battery life on it with WatchOS 6. I tried searching the subreddit about this but didn't find anything useful, sorry if this is asked often. [link] [comments]
Adding fuel to the fire - My s5 battery went from 100% to 85% in 7 hours while I slept.... Posted: 26 Sep 2019 04:50 AM PDT I set the watch to DND - Theater Mode - and lock it so I dont accidentally click anything. My watch went from 100$ to 85%. I'm on IOS 13.1..... This CANT be normal, can it? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Sep 2019 06:40 PM PDT Seems obvious now but was anyone else like me? I thought the Apple watch dock (software dock) not a charging station, was the app switcher / where you go to close apps. I realized tonight it's the dock. In the settings I switched to favorites and now I will start using the side button on my watch more often! [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Sep 2019 12:13 AM PDT Your thoughts? Tossed up between going for a white ceramic Series 3 42mm vs a Space Black Stainless Steel series 4 44mm. The always on display for the 5, isn't worth the upgrade and increase in price for me. [link] [comments]
Activity Tracking Issues Again Posted: 26 Sep 2019 07:44 AM PDT So the last time I posted I was on a Series 1 watch which I found out was really a Series 0 watch and it constantly had issues tracking my activity (go for a 30 min walk only to have 3 mins show up.) I was planning on ditching the Apple Watch all together and possibly switch to a Garmin Watch or Fitbit. That said I ended up getting a great deal on a brand new Apple Watch Series 4. So far the watch has been incredible but today it did the same thing my Series 0 use to do. I went for a 50 mins walk and only 25 mins shows up for the green ring. I used the Activity App (Outdoor Walk) which shows 50 mins and 3 miles of distance. The green ring on the other hand shows only 25 mins. I thought maybe it was delayed but nope half hour later still shows only 25 mins. What is it with these watches? I am going to reboot the watch and hope this fixes it but for christ sake I have not had to reboot a device this much since Windows XP. [link] [comments]
