4 Quick tl;dr iOS Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 30) Posted: 30 Aug 2019 10:30 AM PDT Welcome back, my fellow mobile gamers. Excited to bring you 4 neat games this week in my weekly mobile game recommendation roundup. Enjoy :) This week, I cover a solitaire-like RPG game with roguelike gameplay elements, a fun strategy RPG with no auto-combat, energy systems or the like, a high-quality 2D platform shooter that reminded me of Lost Socks: Naughty Brothers, and a turn-based gacha RPG with a huge community of loyal fans. Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 30 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is. Let's get to this week's 4 games:Solitairica [Game Size: 259 MB] ($3.99)Genre: Solitaire-like / Casual / RPG / Roguelike - Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Little tl;dr review: Solitairica is a solitaire-like RPG card game with roguelike elements where we clear piles of face-up cards to defeat enemies and use spell cards to protect ourselves and strategize our next move. As we attempt to get through the game's many rounds of enemies without dying, we earn gold, which can be spent on buying items and spells that last until next time we die, and diamonds, which can be used to permanently upgrade our deck or buy new decks when we die. The game's casual and fun, yet hardcore and challenging, and the roguelike progression, procedurally generated enemies, and many spells and items cards that can be combined in various ways, keeps the game fresh. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here First Summoner [Game Size: 1.03 GB] (free)Genre: RPG / Strategy / Action - Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: First Summoner is a strategy RPG that plays a bit like a PvE-focused fantasy Clash Royale game where we control a main hero and deploy units as we run through level after level. Oh, and there's no auto-play, no energy system, and no "wait for lootboxes to unlock"-mechanic either. I enjoy the gameplay's focus on tactic rather than action and speed, which has us gather a perfect team of units with an appropriate average mana cost, and equip the proper items on our main hero before heading into PvE levels and PvP matches. The game looks great, the controls work well, and because of its focus on PvE, the in-app purchases that provide paying users to get a pay-to-progress-faster advantage don't impact the rest of us too much, as we're not forced to engage with other players. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Bombastic Brothers [Total Game Size: 304 MB] (free)Genre: Action / Platformer / Shooter / 2D - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Bombastic Brothers is an awesome high-quality hero-based 2D platform shooter (Lost Socks: Naughty Brothers, anyone?) with no energy system (yay!). The core gameplay has us jump and shoot our way through a bunch of story campaign levels and daily missions to unlock new heroes and gear (and boring bot-controlled PvP matches), while upgrading our spaceship-base in-between levels to unlock new gameplay features and increase our max. hero level. As for monetization, we have to wait for our home base to upgrade, and being developed by My.com, there are of course a few pay/grind-walls throughout the game too. Despite this less-than-ideal monetization, I'm confident many will still enjoy the game for its fantastic run'n'gun gameplay. App Store: Here First Impressions / Review: Here Epic Seven [Total Game Size: 2.04 GB] (free)Genre: RPG / Turn-based / Strategy / Gacha - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Little tl;dr review: Epic Seven is a Korean team-based (gacha) RPG with a huge Reddit community of loyal fans, over-the-top skill animations, and English-voiced cut-scenes that tell a decently interesting story. As with any gacha RPG, we setup a team of heroes and head into the game's many turn-based levels, where each hero has 3 different abilities they can use - or you can use the auto system and just let the game play itself... The game is of high quality and has interesting heroes, but there's a ton of in-app purchases going up to $100, which gives paying users a huge pay-to-progress-faster advantage, and since we're not told how much damage each of our heroes' skills deal, the combat feels more random than tactical. Posted: 30 Aug 2019 05:12 AM PDT Recently got a $25 gift card and looking to buy some games. I already bought dead cells cause I knew it would be good, and I am absolutely loving it. I was kind of looking for other games to buy. I looked at FF7, DMC 4, other FFs, and stuff like that. Which of these games is better? And if you guys know other action/adventure/puzzle games that are good please tell me about them. I would like longer games more, and at the same time I would like to be able to purchase multiple games. But if you guys say that FF7 is well worth it's price tag, then I might buy it. Also I have an XS Max running iOS 13, so I am looking for games that can run on my phone, do any of the games I mentioned above not work on newer devices? [link] [comments]
Stranger Things 3: The Game (USD 4.99) Posted: 29 Aug 2019 10:59 PM PDT

Posted: 30 Aug 2019 07:31 AM PDT So I have been searching a while and can't find any information about this. Can I use a steam controller wireless for my Ipad games? All I read is connecting steam computer with link to play on Ipad. NO. What I want to know is if it's possible to use my steam controller for IOS games, or do I have to buy xbox or ios controller? Thanks! [link] [comments]
I'm looking for IOS games that work well on IPad and aren't made on a microtransaction model. Posted: 29 Aug 2019 10:31 PM PDT Could anyone help me add to this list? It's basically my shopping list. Starbase Orion Democracy 3 Rome: Total War Collection Tropico Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic/3 Xcom: Enemy Within Star Traders The Infinity Collection Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic The Holy Potatoes games. There's also a crummy Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Nobunaga's Ambition game. I already own Civilization VI, Faster Than Light, and Bloons 6. Games where the full game is unlocked through IAP are fine too, so I may get Plague Inc eventually. I'm mostly just looking for games that I won't break my wrists trying to play, so Jade Empire is a no go. Edit: Also, I usually avoid board games unless they make an effort to feel more like a video game than a virtual board game. [link] [comments]
Sonny 2 - unable to pass through zone 2, stage 7 due to repeating pop-ups? Help needed. Posted: 30 Aug 2019 06:17 AM PDT Hello, firstly, I would apologize if this is the wrong subreddit for posting this and would be happy to get a suggestion if so. Anyway, I am a new player to the game "Sonny 2" and I experienced heavy problems in "Zone 2", "Stage 7". Every time I enter the "Next Battle" and start clicking anywhere with my mouse, I can barely do something. I use Firefox and I get this automatic message in yellow saying that a pop-up is slowing down the browser but it almost instantly disappeares afterwards. In fact, no new tab gets opened nor I see any pop-ups and I actually do not notice anything new on the Task Manager. Adobe Flash gets executed and disabling the Adblocker does not help either. I would be glad to get any help so I can continue playing this awesome game. [link] [comments]
Best iPad games for Apple Pencil Posted: 29 Aug 2019 04:55 PM PDT Hi, I have a 2018 iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil. I've been playing some Civ 6 & FROST, and they are fantastic with the Apple Pencil. Are there any other games that either officially support the pencil, or are just good to play with it? Thanks :) [link] [comments]
If I like Archero will I like Dead Cells? Posted: 29 Aug 2019 04:29 PM PDT I've spent endless hours playing Archero. I love that each time I play it's different and it's so rewarding when I do beat a level. I'm not sure if they're similar, but would I enjoy Dead Cells if I like Archero? [link] [comments]
pokemon masters global release, but not for the netherlands and belgium.. Posted: 29 Aug 2019 02:45 PM PDT So it feels kinda weird, the Netherlands and Belgium recently got a new law to ban/block or not allow video games that contain gambling systems like the well know "gacha" systems. And it turns out, pokemon masters is now blocked here. Can't even find in on the app store. Kinda shitty because i would love to play it, and i wonder if this wil be the beginning of a big change in mobile games. How do you guys feel about the situation? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2019 05:57 PM PDT I use to play this old [2010] pirate game on the iphone called Plunderland, that unfortunately didn't make it through the iOS 11 update. Was wondering if there are any alternatives. [link] [comments]
Any idea how long Dead Cells is going to have its launch discount for? Posted: 29 Aug 2019 11:34 AM PDT Also, how does it perform with the iPad 2017 (9.7 inch) @ 60 FPS? [link] [comments] |
