Apple Macbook Am I the only one that likes this keyboard?

Apple Macbook Am I the only one that likes this keyboard?

Am I the only one that likes this keyboard?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 06:54 PM PDT

Just got my i9 MPB 15 and I am really liking this keyboard so far! While the key travel is shallow, I really like the stability of each key and the clickiness of it. Typing-wise it is pretty close to my mechanical one (Cherry MX blues). Though, I just cannot see myself playing games on this keyboard... This Touch Bar is pretty garbage so far though... 🤔 (yea, I just used it 😂)

Touch ID loose? Don’t ignore it

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 07:32 PM PDT

I recently sent in my MBP w/ TB to get the top case replaced as per the new Keyboard Replacement Program, and when I got it back, I noticed my Touch ID button was super wiggly and loose when it never had been before. I looked up the problem and saw that other people also had this problem.

When I returned it to the Apple Store, I was told by the Geniuses that this was a common problem due to faulty/careless repairs where the techs had not secured the Touch ID button in place.

I'm just posting this in case you have a wiggly button (especially if it's a brand new MacBook); make sure you get that fixed ASAP and at no cost! It's an assembly issue.

I just got a MBP 13” base model two days ago. I’ve been a huge Apple fan for years and this is the first Apple laptop/computer I’ve gotten.

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 08:19 PM PDT

So far my opinions are that the keyboard is too high for my liking. The fact that the touchpad is very big is nice but I dislike how high the keyboard is. Another problem I've had is today I plugged in my Mac and left it on, everything minimized and nothing running in the background, and for some reason around 20 or 30 mins in when the Mac went to sleep I heard the fan going off and got a bit concerned (I haven't had the fan turn on yet) because the laptop was very hot to the touch, the bottom especially. I was just worried about why it was overheating if nothing was running. I've also noticed the laptop Getting a bit warm doing normal things such as watching Netflix or browsing the web listening to Spotify. I still am hesitant to download too many things or play games even though I know the MBP is very powerful.

    Screen Haze?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 04:03 PM PDT

Hi friends! So today my screen all of a sudden had this really weird 'grey haze' on the screen, almost like the contrast got cranked down. Now it only happens when I'm going from a low to a high brightness, and this it evens itself out. But this has never happened before. I have a video and some photos that you can look at here: https://imgur.com/a/U5qtK12 My camera was locked to a specific exposure so it isn't a weird auto exposure thing with the camera.

I just want to make sure that my screen isn't starting to die on me, because that would be no good.

EDIT: so it turns out this is a feature of auto brightness? When I turned it off I no longer had this issues. Maybe its to combat direct sunlight? Not sure, but I'm pretty sure this is solved.

Is there any difference in quality in Apple Keyboard 2 for the two variants?

I am looking to purchase an Apple keyboard 2. Outside of the size difference is there any difference in quality between smaller and larger variants of the keyboard?

Which model macbook is best for me?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 06:02 PM PDT

So I want to buy an macbook for both my education as well as the hobby I'd like to get in to.

For my education I'd need a device to program on. So far I've mainly worked with C# / ASP.Net and Python. But there is a good chance I will be working with Java soon, but not completely sure.

My hobby, or at least what I want to get into, is web and app development. The latter would be one of the main reasons already for an apple, to be able to create ios apps as well.

Money is somewhat an issue as a student, but I do keep in mind they last long and keep a large portion of of their value.

Macbook air seems to be underpowered, what I've read so far. But between the pro line up, which would suit me?

The 15" looks a bit overkill, as I have an iPad for my occasional photo or video edits. And I have a perfect working PC at home. The iPad would also be used as monitor for the macbook to create some more space to make uo for the smaller screen if 13". And at the most plaves I'm at, I can use external monitors.

Between the 13" base model and the upgraded one (higher clock cpu) what's the advantage? And is it worth it?

I would go for 16GB of RAM and probs the 256GB harddrive (I use my external a lot as well as cloud storage). But should I go for the 1,4GHz or 2,4GHz model? Or is the 15 inch really what I need?

Repeated 2018 15" MacBook Pro Keyboard Issues

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 03:27 PM PDT

Hello, I purchased a 2018 15" MacBook Pro in October 2018. From the beginning, I was getting double spaces added randomly when typing, but I thought it was just me not knowing how to properly type with the new keyboard style (my previous MacBook was from 2013). I really didn't use it a ton for typing, so I didn't notice how bad the issue was until around April of this year. Apple had me mail my computer in ( didn't live near an apple store at the time) and I had a topcase replacement.

Then, in May the same issue resurfaced again, and I lived near an apple store at this point. I had ANOTHER topcase replacement. A couple of weeks later, I had the same issue crop up again. They took it in for a topcase replacement, but decided to just replace one key (which I didn't even know was possible) for some reason. Of course, a couple of weeks later I was having issues with my spacebar and one of my other keys repeating or not properly working when pressed. I took it into the apple store again, and they decided to do ANOTHER topcase replacement (#3). At this point, I contacted someone from the customer relations team, and she told me to give it another shot with the topcase replacement. I initially called her, because my apple store took much longer to repair the computer than they originally promised me it would.

Of course now, I am having yet again an issue with the spacebar.. However, it is super intermittent. Sometimes I can type quite a bit without any issues, and other times I get the random double spacing fairly frequently. I am afraid to bring it into the store, as I feel like if I can't get the issue to replicate for them, they will assume I am just making it up.

I am super frustrated and unsure of what to do at this point. I can't afford to just buy another computer, but I am seriously so sick of having to bring my computer in to get topcase replacements every month or two. Also, now I am in graduate school and need my computer for exams and studying. We have to take exams on our computers, so I really can't be without it regardless. Especially since the last time I took it in, it took 4 days for them to complete the replacement.

Does anyone have any advice? Anyone else had this many repairs for the same issue?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 03:57 AM PDT

[MBP 2017 13” Non-Touch Bar] logic board dead. Questions about SSD replacement program?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 01:45 PM PDT

    Hey guys,

Came home the other day and out of the blue, my laptop just wouldn't turn on.

Brought it into an Apple certified repair shop and they told me that I had a "bad logic board" and that my MacBook wouldn't turn on even after reseating the battery and resetting the power manager. They asked for over $500 for the repair and I just ended up taking my MacBook home because I was hoping to look into the Recall program/I am a broke student.

My MBP is a little over 2 years old/out of warranty but still in pretty good condition with light usage. And I've honestly been pretty fed up with this model because I've already had to replace the butterfly keyboard and now it won't even turn on for who knows what reason.

I currently have an Apple Genius Bar appointment set up for later today and I'm trying to figure out how I can finesse them into giving me free repairs based on the SSD Service + Battery Replacement Program. Apple has identified that with this model, both the SSD and main logic board needs to be replaced when either has a functional failure.

How likely do you guys think it is that I'll be able to get my macbook repaired for free? And any advice?

Laptop Sleeve For The New 13" Air

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 05:46 AM PDT

I recently bought a new 13" MacBook Air. I am trying to find a simple sleeve for it. I want one that is kinda like the apple leather one but I can't bring myself to spend $180 on a laptop sleeve. I want something that is slimline and fits the computer perfectly with barely any wiggle room left. I usually carry my laptop in my book bag and want something to further protect it. I have looked through amazon and haven't found one I liked and was curious on what you guys have, or seen that would be similar for not that much.

Is there a way to keep a key pressed down when using "keyboard viewer" on a Mac?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 09:07 AM PDT

I'm trying to have a key pressed down using keyboard viewer on Mac. I remember using windows and when opening keyboard viewer all I had to do was click on the key, it would make a clicking sound and the key would then act as though it was held down until I clicked the same key on the keyboard viewer. I can't seem to find a way to keep any of the keys down on my mac using keyboard viewer, does anyone know of a way?

Any reports or benchmarks on 16GB RAM vs 32GB RAM affecting battery life?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 12:25 PM PDT

I'm deciding between 16GB and 32GB Macbook Pro 2019 15", each with base 6-core CPU, 555X Radeon, and 256GB storage. My workflow doesn't necessarily depend heavily on 16GB or 32GB and I want to consider 32GB for future proofing, but don't necessarily want to non-trivially compromise battery life. I tried to look online, but there's so many mixed answers on forums (ironic that I'm asking here... a forum...) and no real benchmarks for this type of thing. Any insight or help would be awesome.

    Thank you in advance!!

I need help picking my first macbook!

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 11:55 AM PDT

I've never had an editing laptop before, I need a configuration that can edit 4k in premire. I'm between the i9 with vega 20, 32gb of ram and 1TB vs i7 with 555x, 32gb ram and 2TB. I hear the i7 would be better because of the i9's thermal limitations but is it strong enough to edit heavy workloads without the vega 20? thank you in advance!

    Advice for first MacBook

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 08:07 AM PDT

I'll keep it short. Since 5 years i've owned an iPhone. I love IOS since then. I have a Asus Laptop which is already 8/9 years old. It doesn't have bluetooth (yea so old). I want to change from Windows to macOS'. I don't want to spend to much, because I don't need a powerhouse. Nu laptop freezes 30sec when browsing spotify as example. So anything is a hoge upgrade. I'm looking right now for a second-handed or refurbished one. I got my eye on a MacBook Pro 13 inch early 2015 model.

I only use it for schoolwork and for work. No Photoshop or graphic things. Netflix and browsing. Producing music and dj'ing. I want to use it for the next 3-5 years.

Is it a good choice or would you recommend me an other macbook?

    Thanks in advance!
