Is 48% design capacity at 480 cycles normal? [2017 Macbook Air 13'] Posted: 29 Aug 2019 12:45 PM PDT Battery icon on the menu bar says "Service Battery" rather than replace soon or replace now. I'm in a country with 2 year minimum warranty so i was wondering would this battery count as defected or not at apple store. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2019 11:46 PM PDT First of all, this post is not about Windows vs Mac. I just need advice and somebody who can justify my future purchase. So, I am a Windows user and don't get me wrong, I love MacOS. I have only used Windows because its cheaper (easily available on cheaper devices) and gaming. But now that I do not game much, I am considering purchasing a MBP but its just too expensive and the number of problems they have had, is just unbelievable. Right now, I am considering a Windows laptop with 15" display, i7-8565U, 16GB, 512GB, GTX 1660 for about a $1000 Canadian cheaper than a 13"MBP with i5-8257U, 16GB and 512 GB (no dedicated GPU). Honestly, I was willing to pay for this model even though I can only afford the mentioned Windows laptop and using my credit card to pay the rest for MBP but the problems with the older models and a high possiblity of me getting those in the future, they just bother me a lot. Some can justify by saying that Windows laptops depreciate a lot and with MBP, I can sell it to get much of the money in return and that's true. But if we consider the problems with this generation, who will be willing to take the risk to buy this MacBook Pro for that much money after the AppleCare+ and/or free keyboard replacement program have expired? Can someone please help me in making this decision. I have just been debating with myself a lot and its causing me some insomnia. Haha. Thanks [link] [comments]
2016 13inch Macbook Pro too narrow for people with long arms / fingers? Posted: 29 Aug 2019 11:15 PM PDT Does anyone else feel that their 13inch Macbook Pro (2016 model or newer) is just not wide enough for your hands? I constantly feel cramped with my hands, like my fingers are too bunched up when using it, especially coming from older Macbooks where I had plenty of space to spread my hands and arms. Wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if so, what they did to get around it. I can't help but feel this is ergonomically horrible for my wrists, and judging by the constant fatigue and wrist pains after like 10 minutes of typing, seems like my body agrees with me. Does anyone else have worn out keys already? Posted: 29 Aug 2019 07:36 PM PDT I just got a MacBook Air 2019 a month or so ago and I use it daily. I am seeing some major wear on my space key already and its kind of upsetting. Did anyone else get this? [link] [comments]
Need help sorting by image file type Posted: 29 Aug 2019 07:10 PM PDT I am working with images off a memory card for my camera. When I "sort by kind" it does not sort by file type, as it thinks "kind" means image. I have attempted to google, but the only solutions I have come across are from 2016 or earlier & talks about "arranging" being set to "none". It looks like "Arrange" has been replaced by "group" but following the soultion & subbing arrange for group does not fix my problem. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2019 06:35 PM PDT Hi everyone. I'm in the market for a Macbook and saw on Ebay that there are multiple refurbished ones selling for around $300-500 with totals of over 1000 sold. I was just wondering if it's safe to purchase one on Ebay (from what looks like a mass production seller) as it's a lot more affordable than buying one through Apple or BestBuy. Thanks! Posted: 29 Aug 2019 05:51 PM PDT Hello, I have an old windows laptop that is falling apart and I am looking to get a MBP because I have a huge discount towards an Apple laptop through my university. My current laptop only has a 128GB SSD and I'm using about 40GB of it. Would I be fine with a 256GB MBP or should I get the 512? I'm not sure how much macOS uses so was just wondering because I've always been on windows. Basically I'm looking at the 2019 13"/256GB/16GB with AC+ for $1000 or the 2019 13"/512GB/16GB with no AC+ for $1000 (I'm limiting myself to $1000 budget) [link] [comments]
13” 2018 Macbook Pro(2.3 Ghz quad core) vs 13” 2019 Macbook Pro(1.4 Ghz quad core) Posted: 29 Aug 2019 04:58 PM PDT The 13" 2018 Macbook Pro has 2.3Ghz quad-core i5 and the 13" 2019 Pro has a 1.4Ghz quad-core i5. But on Bestbuy's student discount page, the 2018 version, while having a higher processor speed on page, is $100 cheaper than the 2019 version. What am I missing? [link] [comments]
Upgrade from MBP 2014 to MBA 2019 Posted: 29 Aug 2019 09:19 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm thinking about upgrading from my Macbook Pro Retina (mid 2014, 2,6 GHz i5 / 8 GB / 128 GB) to the new Macbook Air (1,6 GHz i5 / 8 GB / 128 GB). Do you think it is worth it? Like will I notice better speed or something? I use my Macbook for office stuff, mails, safari browsing, music (Spotify) and don't need more storage. The longer battery power of the Macbook Air would be a big benefit, as well as the true tone display - I love it on my iPhone XS. [link] [comments]

Posted: 29 Aug 2019 03:14 PM PDT Hi Everyone. My mid 2009 white macbook is having some issues, and before I buy some parts I want to know if someone can tell what is wrong. The problem: Normally when I startup the computer the typical bell make his sound, and then a white screen (correct) and then, when the grub screen has to show (yeah I have Linux installed), it goes to black screen. Then I close the screen (the white light in the front show up) and open the screen again... Some times it's OK it start the computer and it runs fine for all the time I have it started, and sometimes I have to do it a lot of times... Then. I don't know if the problem is the inverter, the LVD cable or is a failure in the Logic Board... Some one can guide me in this problem? Thanks a lot! [link] [comments]

Upgrade from 2011 MBP - Advice Needed!! Posted: 29 Aug 2019 03:46 AM PDT Hi all, I am looking to upgrade from my 2011 Macbook Pro and am really having difficulty choosing a successor. My main uses are web browsing, running DJ software, light gaming, streaming movies. I am not looking to use it for developing nor will I be editing video content. As I have had my previous MBP for so long I am looking for something that will last 5 years plus. Cost is a slight constraint. I am only considering 256gb models and my current thoughts are below: 2017 Macbook Pro (no touchbar) - Able to get for £1,150 however aware that the keyboard sucks 2018 Macbook Air - Able to get for £1,100, really love the macbook airs but I'm scepticul about it's lack of power compared with a MBP 2019 Macbook Pro (touchbar) - £1,400, pretty expensive but have read that the 2019 model is a very very good macbook and the keyboard is much better than 2017 and 2018 models All advice welcome, thanks in advance!! Posted: 29 Aug 2019 01:06 PM PDT Essentially, I updated my Mac in around July, and noticed now that some of my files are missing. I am unsure if they were deleted before or after the update. Regardless, I have been using my computer since then, but have not saved many documents (this might help, I hear). I looked on Time Machine but I can only go back to August, it appears (assuming I am using it right). I also expanded my iCloud storage since then but they don't appear to be on there. Only certain folders are missing, as some files still exist from before July. Does anyone know how I can maybe recover these documents/folders? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2019 12:54 PM PDT Hey all, so as the title reads I'm looking for my first Mac. I don't need anything too fancy, and I'd like to spend as little money as possible. I only plan to use it for google docs, YouTube videos, and photoshop. I also want something that will have a decent battery life, without needing to get plugged in. Would also be nice if it's light weight for me to just stick it in my back pack. I don't know the difference between the air, pro, or just the regular Mac. I've been looking on the Facebook market, and they seem to have a lot of options that are also relatively cheap. Which one would be the best to suit my needs? [link] [comments]
4k monitor recommendations for my 2017 MacBook Air 13” Posted: 29 Aug 2019 12:17 PM PDT I have been trying to find a decent 4k monitor for my 2017 MacBook Air 13" (non-retina). I currently use Dell U2412m but I feel like the display quality (i.e. texts and icons seem blurry) is not as good. I am hoping upgrading to a 4k monitor will fix that. What are your recommendations? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
2019 MBP 13” Spec Recommendation Posted: 29 Aug 2019 07:53 AM PDT
Posted: 29 Aug 2019 04:27 AM PDT I'm curious what the communities preference is when it comes to the TouchBar. I was kind of mad at myself for buying a 2017 nTB MBP when I saw the 2019 models all come with it. That was a month before the models were announced and granted I got a great deal on a new one so I didn't want to spend the extra $500 plus going through the hassle of selling the one I just bought at the time. So do you think it's better then physical keys or would you prefer the keys still? [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Aug 2019 04:22 AM PDT Hi Everyone, After a bit of help before I start shelling out the £££s on repairs. Bare with me on this... So I was replacing my MBP Early 2015 NVME drive with a larger 512GB Crucial P1, using the Sinotech? adapter. Got it all setup and working for a feew weeks with no issues at all. I remembered I had a file on the old Apple NVME drive that I needed. When swapping it over and half way through pulling the NVME drive out, the power came on! I had forgotten to disconnect the battery this time :( So it seemed to work but then reset itself at random with the black screen of death, followed by a reboot. I reinstalled the OS, made no difference. It also passes the Apple diagnostics. I am guessing the logic board now has issues and that will be more than the machine is worth to fix. Any thoughts?
