Posted: 30 Jun 2019 06:50 AM PDT I have gone on a bit of a privacy crusade lately, setting up a PiHole server, etc. I've never used Chrome, Gmail, and have avoided Google products for as long as I can. I tried " defaults write -g CGFontRenderingFontSmoothingDisabled -bool NO " , but this had no result. How do I make fonts look normal again? Why do they keep breaking things.. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Apple Notes not syncing consistently via iCloud from MacOS Posted: 01 Jul 2019 01:06 AM PDT I am desperately trying to adopt the core Apple Notes as my system of record for meeting notes, etc but am frustrated by its inconsistent syncing in iCloud. Does anyone have a fix? IoS to IoS seems to work fine... even with a mix of IOS12 and IOS13, where my iPhone and iPad are fairly good at keeping in sync. However, my Macbook Pro is extremely flakey and will sync only circa 5% of the time. I am running High Sierra. I have tried the usual tricks of turning iCloud sync on/off, logging out of iCloud, logging in via the iCloud web interface to try and force changes through, rebooting all devices, etc. Every now and again it will start syncing again (it does not Seem to be location or network specific either) but it is so unreliable and only works for 10-15 minutes before the Mac drops out of sync again and I need to clear the local notes and wait for it to decide to try again. | Windows-style folder icons in Mac OS? Posted: 30 Jun 2019 05:19 PM PDT So I use both Macs and PC's in my day-to-day life, and while I overall prefer MacOS, one thing that is difficult is not having the preview-style folder icons that Windows has. For instance, if you have a bunch of pictures of boats in a Windows folder, the default icon will likely be a boat. This is useful as many of my work folders are similarly named, so having that visual distinction is often helpful to prevent me from having to open multiple folders to find the right contents. I know you can go in and customize the icon of each folder, but after years of pictures, I have way too many folders for that to be practical at this point, from a time-standpoint. So is there an app or some other way to automatically have folders feature an example of its contents? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Photos importing original and edited photos Posted: 30 Jun 2019 12:42 PM PDT Everytime I try to import my pictures to my Macbook Air early 2014 from my iPhone 7, Photos separates the edits from the oirginal image. Is there a way to stop this? I only want the edited versions, not the originals. It does this for almost half of my photos so it adds up and is very annoying. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Wont let me partition a hard drive due to it being a Master Boot Record Posted: 30 Jun 2019 12:00 PM PDT I have external hard drive I am trying to partitian but in disk utility the partiction is greyed out and when i hover over it it says Disks with Master Boot Record partition maps can not be partitioned.
