Mojave login screen is mirrored instead of extended mode Posted: 01 Jul 2019 06:19 PM PDT My iMac pro is booting in mirrored mode when I don't even have that selected. If I do command + F1 it shows the extended desktop mode which is how it should be but this is only a temporary fix. I'm using a thunderbolt 3 to HDMI adapter for my 1080p television. I have reset PRAM and SMC to no avail. As well as fiddling around with the display settings. I also have tried disk repair and different orientations for the dual monitor setup. No luck. I had an iMac pro with the same exact set up and cables working not even a few weeks ago. Any ideas? [link] [comments]

Upgrading OS on mid2012 non retina MBP, go to Mojave or stay on El Capitan? Posted: 01 Jul 2019 09:42 PM PDT Hello, I have recently opened up a can of worms on my MBP. I upgraded to SSD and attempted to restore from a Time Machine backup. The MBP said no to that, would move the files, get to the load screen and just freeze at 100% for hours. So I decided to try another tactics and reinstalled OS. I have it at Lion now. Am updating to El Capitan as I type this. I'm wondering, should I keep going to High Sierra and Mojave or just stop at High Sierra? And will this create any issues for my Time Machine back up which I still need to restore? My time machine backup was made in Mojave. Looking for any recommendations. I kinda hated Mojave, but I also don't want to lose any of my files on the Time machine. So, will I be able to restore everything if I don't go back to Mojave? And if not going to Mojave won't create conflicts with my time machine backup, what OS does everyone feel I should stop at? Stay at El Cap or keep going? [link] [comments]

Macbook battery drain overnight Posted: 02 Jul 2019 01:59 AM PDT I have a 2014 Macbook Pro and it does not go to sleep when I close the lid. As such, I got used to manually selecting sleep on the OS each and every time i switched it off. The issue I had is that it was still losing a lot of battery overnight. As I could not find a fix, I formatted the drive and started again however it appears to be doing the same thing as it lost 50% battery overnight. I have tried resetting the SMC controller. I would appreciate any guidance with this. [link] [comments]
Random servers showing up under Locations_Network in the Finder and can't be removed Posted: 01 Jul 2019 12:40 PM PDT Hi, title explains most of the issue. I am not sure when they appeared because I only just noticed them, but they can't be removed. There are only two. When I try to 'eject' them I get a message that states that the item "can't be moved to the Trash because it can't be deleted.". I am not connected to them, and I don't think I ever was (although I am not sure, I am not particularly tech savvy). I believe they are NAS servers (I don't even know what that is, but I figured it out via Google) because it is listed in both names. I am currently visiting a foreign country and have been using public WiFi a lot, so I just want to be sure that I am not at risk of getting my banking information or ssn stolen, etc. The only thing that has changed is that I started using a VPN in order to use my HBONow account. In any case, does anybody have any ideas about this? I don't even really know what it means that items are appearing in this section of the Finder, but it bothers me that they can't be removed and I don't know where they came from. I appreciate everybody's help. Thank you! [link] [comments]

Any suggestions for a universal cloud service? With support for 10.4 tiger through 10.14 Posted: 01 Jul 2019 10:14 AM PDT So here is my problem. I need a cloud service that can work with older Macs running 10.4 through current versions. I have a few machines running older versions 10.4, 10.6, and 10.7 and need a cloud service that can work well with all. Currently I am using CloudMe which works with iOS devices too with an app. However I find it slow and sometimes have problems waiting for sync as well as one machine constantly has issues with writing permissions and often can only read. The big benefit is that I can mount the cloud directory as a normal drive. Obviously google drive, Dropbox, etc have all dropped support for most things before Yosemite or El Capitan. So is there anything better and more reliable than what I am using? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Jul 2019 07:30 AM PDT My google-fu is failing where past me succeeded quickly. Whoever posted about it seemed to be excited. I believe it required a restart or log out to enable, if any of that helps. It enabled some long-forgotten window magic where, like in linux, you can click anywhere and drag with the shortcut. OWC Aura Pro X SSD on Boot Camp Posted: 01 Jul 2019 03:52 AM PDT Has anyone gotten OWC aura pro x ssd to work with windows 10 boot camp? I recently bought a auro pro x for my MacBook Pro Mid-2014 and just can't seem to make it work with bootcamp. I had tried the April 2018 build, oct 2018 build and the 2019 build with no luck. I have also tried to use the dual boot enabler for OWC drives, which also did not help. I have turned off FileVault , as I have heard that it sometimes messes up boot camp. If anyones had any luck with them I would love to hear your thoughts. Cheers. [link] [comments] |
