| Replacing iPhone 7 screen myself with a kit... yea or nay? Posted: 30 Jul 2019 07:09 AM PDT I cracked my screen, and most of the local repair quotes I'm seeing are $100+. I found a kit on Amazon, comes with a new screen and all the tools, for $30. I'm very tech-savvy and have done a bunch of at-home hardware replacement on my Macbook, so I was excited to try this. But, I've read how finicky the newer generation iPhones are, and read a few horror stories like this person who tried replacing screens on two iPhone 6s, and failed both times. Has anyone tried this at home? Am I better to suck it up and get it done by a professional? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 30 Jul 2019 07:48 AM PDT Apple should make standalone apps for keychain and CarPlay. You could use your phone in a mount and have the phone display the CarPlay interface, it would also allow you to switch between vehicles, compared to a built in unit. An example between a automobile and motorcycle. In regards to a standalone Keychain password manager app, it would allow more features to be incorporated, or Apple should just purchase 1password. They're all inside the iOS IPSW, under Library > Wallpaper. Seems stupid that they actually take up space on the device (albeit not much) but they're just hidden from the Wallpaper section of Settings. The XS has 3 live wallpapers, the weird oil bubble things and that's it. I miss the glittery ones! [link] [comments]  | ||
