I bit the bullet and ordered an iPad Pro!

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 07:07 AM PDT

Last year I got a MacBook Pro for uni as I study psychology but am a creative so I thought I needed it for casual photoshop and photo editing.. except I hated it and found it incredibly unintuitive, so today I put it on Ebay and ordered my iPad Pro 11"! I can't wait to use Procreate!

Any way to get from iMessage conversation bar to chat input using keyboard?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 12:30 PM PDT

I have an iPad set up on my desk that is hooked up to bluetooth keyboard. I know I can navigate between conversations via command + up/down, but is there a way to begin typing a message without having to reach out and touch the chat bar?

Does a pretty flashcards app with pen support exist?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 01:23 PM PDT

Since I'm studying a lot of maths I would love to try a flashcards app where I can write the formulas and schemas directly with the pen.

Anyone else think this new autochess gaming trend is the perfect chance for iPads to jump into gaming/esports seriously?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 10:50 PM PDT

For those of you who don't know what autochess is, it's a trending game mode that the major moba's are getting into. this explains the genre

Now the game style is well suited in my opinion for tablets, maybe even more suited in some cases (two hands vs one mouse). If Riot are willing to come out with a Team Tactics on iPad, that could be push this forward and legitimize it even more. Many people are already playing autochess and Dota underlords.

What do you guys think? Will you be playing these games on tablet at all? Do you think iPads could possibly penetrate gaming (actual esports, not just the "addictive mobile games lul" stereotype) if this does indeed blow up?

If possible can anyone send pictures of OneNote in your iPads (would need 9.7" 2018 one)?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 03:09 AM PDT

I went to multiple stores; I couldn't see OneNote in the demo 9.7" iPad 2018. If possible, can anyone send a pic of OneNote in 9.7" ipad or any other ipad (with bezels of iPad and/or anything to get relative size sense)?

Record video while camera app is closed

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 11:58 AM PDT

I was wondering if there was any way to record a video while doing something else on the iPad. For example if you start a recording in the camera app then minimise it the recording will stop. This is something I would really like as it would allow me to record my face and gameplay at the same time for my mobile gaming channel . Thank you all in advance!

iPadOS 13 Public Beta stability question

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 11:29 AM PDT

I know there's been some chatter about this around but I wanted to get some opinions. I'm fairly anxious to be on iPadOS...it serves a ton of the wants/needs as to why I went with an iPad Pro over a MacBook earlier this year - with hopes Apple would do exactly what they did with iPadOS.

Question is I've never installed a Beta version of anything on my Apple devices. My iPad I do use daily and I'm wondering how the overall stability is of this Public Beta and if it's a risk installing it (I know there's always SOME risk). Just wanted to get some real world experience from fellows Redditors and how stable/unstable it is based on past Public Betas others may have used! Thanks all!

As an alternative perspective to the typical “new iPad OS runs great on my iPad! Here’s a picture of my screen” posts...

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 07:23 PM PDT

... the beta runs like absolute dogshit for my use cases and has made my 6th gen basically unusable lol.

For typical stuff like going on reddit, watching videos/Netflix/etc. it's fine and definitely looks a lot nicer, but I do a lot of photo editing and file management, and everything I am used to doing is seriously so broken. SD card import is broken. Originally I couldn't get the reader to work at all but updated today and could at least import to Files, but still not to Photos. But then For some reason couldn't import more than one photo at a time to lightroom, even though it lets you select multiple, there's not even a button to confirm your selection??? Just "cancel" and "open" which then... does nothing? Idk. So I had to import to my phone, and tried to transfer them to the iPad. No dice. Used Lightroom sync to get them over, then tried to use Darkroom to do some other edits. Darkroom won't open at all. So try to to airdrop the photo back to my phone so I can use darkroom there. The share button in the Photos app completely breaks the app. Totally unresponsive. So close and reopen, photos app is now completely blank. Can't get it to load.

Also sometimes the keyboard just disappears and I have to restart the iPad to get it back. Also the "desktop class" browser is just ok. It makes watching YouTube or any other in-browser video player really hard to control.

I'm gonna have to go back to 12 and wait for a stable release unfortunately, even though I really do love how the home screen looks.

Anyone else have major issues? I am so jealous of all these posts every day claiming its working great for them. Ah well.

Two tips for iPad mini (and previous-gen iPad) users with Android phones

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 09:03 AM PDT

1-Buy a cheap micro USB to lightning or USB-C to lightning adapter and you can charge your iPad with your phone's charger (Assuming the charger can output enough power to charge the iPad). No need to carry around extra chargers/cables.

2.You can access and send SMS using messages.google.com with any browser on your iPad.

Should I buy Applecare even if I have a screen protector and a case?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 08:08 AM PDT

People are telling me to buy applecare, but the internet has mixed opinions on it. I'm starting to wonder if I should use a case + screen protector or applecare.

Ipad 4 in 2019 for media consumption ?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2019 06:21 AM PDT

Hello I found a used ipad 4 32gb, with a cracked touch screen for about 50usd, replacement screen is about 10 usd on ebay so about 60usd in the end. I wouldn't play games on it, I plan to use it for youtube, movies or anime (via browser or transfering via usb?) , Mangarock , reading some documents and similiar not that much intensive stuff. It is the cheapest 10inch "full hd" tablet I can find with a good battery life. I have never used ios devices so i don't know how restraining is the limit to ios 10.3 and would it affect my use. I have also been tinkering with my android phone (changing roms and stuff like that) so I could jailbreak the device if it would be beneficial. I was planning on buying, fixing and reselling the device if the experience was bad anyways but I want your opinions as well.

Any Procreate or Luma fusion issues on iPad Os?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 04:06 PM PDT

So, just today I had an experience in with I think having iPad os would have make everything easier, I was out of town and only bring my iPad I needed to get some drawings from procreate in different formats, then make a couple zip files and send them to my clients. I know there's maybe some app and a couple of ways for doing this but it seemed like the perfect example of why iPad os is such a cool update, i could have done everything nice and quick with the new features, so my question is, do you guys have any problems in procreate? Luma fusion? The files app? I only use my iPad for drawing, occasional browsing and some media consumption, do you guys think I should upgrade now or wait for the official release? I can live without mail, games, don't have any social media apps on my iPad.

Is the iPad 6 good for learning digital illustration in Procreate?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 07:18 PM PDT

Shopping around for my mom to replace her mini 2. She likes the mini form factor but it's probably too small for drawing. I saw a review claim it (iPad 6)stuttered after long consecutive procreate use but I find that hard to believe. Is it recommended to move up to the new air for drawing?

How to better understand using the apple pencil with Procreate?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 09:34 PM PDT

    hi,

got an ipad last week. got procreate. my struggle was learning how to use the pencil with procreate. i thought the pencil would automatically work with all brushes for drawing but that's not the case. there seems to be some fiddling with each individual brush setting to get it work. any tips/thoughts for a procreate newbie?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 06:06 PM PDT

I am a college student and i currently use a 2017 ipad pro for note taking and things of that nature. I also use my MacBook for things like word processing and PowerPoint ect. I was wondering if the 2017 ipad pro is capable of receiving a word document or pdf file from a usb through the lightning to usb adapter from apple? thanks
