BetterTouchTool and java nightmare! Posted: 12 May 2019 05:13 PM PDT Hey folks. So I just realized after struggling with my java programs which constantly hang, that the main cause of them hanging was BetterTouchTool. It's obviously great software, but this is a known issue with a lot of users, and the developer says it's the fault of the java programs, suggesting to simply disable it. I just want to find out if there are other methods (besides this software), to click the center mouse scroll/button (traditional mouse, not an apple mouse), to go to Mission Control. I have software which requires immediate switching between open windows and pressing F3 isn't fast enough. Thanks to anyone with advice. EDIT: I'm so stupid. In System Preferences under Mission Control, to the right there is a Button 3 setting. Solved. https://imgur.com/a/lxmDUQT [link] [comments]
Cant find a program I downloaded? Posted: 12 May 2019 06:23 PM PDT So I went to download a vst plugin for garageband to sample sounds, and I downloaded the program, went through the install prompts (agreeing to terms of service, entering admin pasword, etc.) when I finished it said it had been installed, but I cant find it anywhere in finder, and when I use garageband to try to open it I cant find it either. Am I missing something? [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 May 2019 02:02 PM PDT Hi all, I haven't gotten around to updating to mojave yet. Question is simply in the title, is high sierra open to that kind of attack? Can a website download viruses in the background for macs? I know the most common is phising, but in this case I'm wondering about full-on virus payload just by simply using a website and clicking buttons in it etc. In this case I'm not wondering about simply clicking a link to the website, but actually using it (obviously not clicking any big red download button though) and such. Thanks!! [link] [comments]
Is there any way to make RedQuits recognize fullscreen apps? Posted: 13 May 2019 01:15 AM PDT I know RedQuits is old and hasn't been updated in forever, so it's probably unlikely there will ever be an update. But surprisingly, it still works on Mojave. The only issue is that if I make apps fullscreen, they are not recognized as windows, so if I press the X, they all close, even when the option is checked to only do that when there is one window left. Does anyone know of a way to tweak this? I can't believe closing the app with the X is still not an official option. [link] [comments]

How do I protect my information? Ex has my Mac. Posted: 12 May 2019 05:42 AM PDT Throwaway. Recently separated. My ex is not letting me pick up my computer from her place. It's a 2010 Mac mini for what it's worth. It's probably maybe 12 months since an update. It's my personal computer, she knows the login password. I've changed the password on my gmail so she can't download new messages. The old ones have been downloaded and are on the computer. How can I protect my personal information? It's getting messy, lawyers, etc. Can I change the login password remotely to stop her logging in to my Mac? It's mine, my Apple ID running it, etc. I can go the nuclear option and get police to accompany me to retrieve my belongings, this is not the preferred option as kids are involved and will also take time. I need to protect my information in the short term. Also, can I tell what programmes, have been accessed and when? Remotely? I am trying to protect myself and if I can prove she has accessed my property when she doesn't have permission it could be beneficial. Thanks for any responses. It's about 10pm sun night here so I may not respond till the morning. Appreciate any help. 👍 Edit: a lovely person helped me below. Sorted I think. Thanks all. [link] [comments]
Apple Mail and Office 365 mail stops Posted: 12 May 2019 09:23 AM PDT Having a few users that refuse to use Outlook with Office 365. Apple Mail works for awhile and then just stops receiving email. It continues on the iPhone in Apple Mail to work. After restarting Apple Mail it will receive for a bit and then stop again. If you remove the account and readd it it works for a period of time and then just stops. Anyone else seen this issue? [link] [comments]

[Question] What are your rules for Mac Mail app? Posted: 12 May 2019 07:38 AM PDT Been using Gmail web browser forever due to it easily filtering out emails to promotions/junk/inbox tab. Now I'm deciding to do use Mail but logging in, I get all my mail in one inbox and I hate seeing the notification numbers on my app (bit OCD). I don't understand really how to use rules. What are your rules set up to filter out your inbox? I really like it the way Gmail is set up. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 May 2019 04:52 AM PDT Does anyone happen to have a download for a Waifu2x image upscaling client for MacOS? I've found a couple of GitHub's which have source code downloads for some which need to be compiled but I'm not very tech savy when it comes to that sort of stuff so if someone would be able to share a pre-compiled version it would be very much appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Why does my Time Machine backup 500mb every hour even when I'm not using it? Posted: 12 May 2019 04:48 AM PDT It seems like every hour, my Time Machine backs up 300-500mb of data even when I'm not actively using my computer. Where could all of this data be coming from? [link] [comments] |
