Last day of May! What do you still have to do to finish your May challenge?

Some of us hit it already, some of us woke up this morning with the May challenge still looming over us. What do you have to do today to get that shiny May award?

I don’t know when it showed up but I love the new update with the PoGo Watch app that shows you which Pokémon is nearby.

    Fall detection...

    Posted: 31 May 2019 07:14 AM PDT

3 weeks ago I had a particularly nasty crash on my bike (bicycle). I was probably going somewhere between 18-20mph - but the crash was nasty and bouncy and tumbley and emergency-roomy and 3-weeks-of-down-timey (10 days of that literally in bed) - and it just occurred to me - the fall detection on my S4 never triggered! Yes, it is (and always has been) turned on. Anyone else experience anything similar?

    Uhhh GTD apps?

    Posted: 31 May 2019 05:21 AM PDT

So I'm trying to find a good GTD app and so far I really like Things 3. My only complaint is every single GTD app I have downloaded uses voice to text to add entries instead of the built in keyboard. I work in a very noisy environment and don't always have my phone with me so it's impossible to add anything from the watch. I think the only apps I have left to try you have to buy outright to even test how they input entries. I've already bought 2 apps thinking maybe they would work but so far they are all acting the same. Any app recommendations?

    [X-Post r/SampleSize][Repost] Sleep Tracking Questionnaire

    Posted: 31 May 2019 01:28 AM PDT

    Hello!

Thank you to everyone who helped with the previous questionnaire I had posted 2 months ago. This is an updated version of the questionnaire because I did the analysis and my prof gave me suggestions on how I could have improved some questions. So, it would be really nice if you could help me out.

If you wear an Apple Watch with sleep tracking, would you please fill out this survey? It takes about 10-15 minutes.

If you took this survey earlier, you are welcome to do it again.

    Survey link: https://forms.gle/JrbbgCXNcWU6jLdf6

Your results will help me design an experiment on the smartwatch and write a report. If you have any questions/suggestions on the survey itself, please comment below. Thank you very much!

If you are interested to know about the results for the previous questionnaire, it's here - https://osf.io/f3vja/?view_only=d019fad84b894c8cbc4077eca4560183

    Diii Notify

    Posted: 31 May 2019 02:05 AM PDT

Apple Watch seriously needs custom notification sounds! That chirp on the iPhone is so beautiful. And then there is this generic notification sound on the Watch...ugh.

Diii Notify is an app for an hourly chime.

Using Apple Watch while hiking 6-12 hours

    Posted: 30 May 2019 10:46 PM PDT

Hey. I have a question or kind of a discussion point.

In the end of June I plan to go to Norway and there are different types of hikes (oh it rhymes :D) I plan to take. At least 3 hikes and the times vary for 6 hours to 12 hours.

Now I know Apple Watch series 4 battery probably won't last 12 hours but I will be bringing a power bank with me and maybe I can charge it while taking a rest stop.

Also I tried putting it on airplane mode and it still maps my route and tracks my activity.

My discussion point is - when hiking and making stops example 10-15min stops or less or more should I pause my workout or leave it running? (When I leave it running, it shows all the minutes I spent on my hike but then maybe it's not so accurate?)

Also, do you have more suggestions using my AW on this long hikes?

    HomeKit response time

    Posted: 31 May 2019 04:43 AM PDT

For those of you who upgraded from a series 3 non-cellular model to an LTE S3 or an S4 (either gps only or LTE) - have you noticed a change in response time for HomeKit stuff? I'm getting rid of my google home speakers and moving to a single HomePod over the weekend, but in the process will lose the convenience of walking into my bedroom at night and turning my lamps on quickly. Siri on my S3 takes care of it, but there is a much longer lag time between the command and the result. It's not unusable by any stretch, but the one thing that was really nice about the google home is the almost instantaneous action with hue lights.

iMessage notifications do not come through to the Apple Watch when I'm using my MacBook Pro?

    Posted: 31 May 2019 03:46 AM PDT

    Hi all

I bought the Apple Watch (Series 3) to quickly glance at notifications whilst at work, as I can't always be looking at my phone.

My workplace allows us to BYOD so I use my MBP, however I've noticed that the Apple Watch:

    • Vibrate to show that a message has arrived if I'm using my MBP, the notification red dot on the Apple Watch doesn't turn on either.
    • Sometimes if I get a message on my MBP, that I can also see on my iPhone, this message won't appear on my Apple Watch list of messages on the messages app.
    • (However, in the process of typing out this message on the MBP, I've seen the notification in the top right of the screen, and also a few seconds later, got a vibrate on my Apple Watch? But now, a few minutes later, an iMessage from my sister has arrived at the top-right of my MBP but has not caused my Apple Watch to vibrate)

I would like the Apple Watch to vibrate whilst I'm using the MBP as I don't always see the notification in the top right corner. I understand the Apple Watch not vibrating when I'm using my iPhone, however I would love to be able to receive vibrate notifications on my Apple Watch whilst working on my MBP.

    Thanks

Watch isn’t showing turn by turn or vibrating for each turn.

Was working fine for months but it just started to have issues. I've updated, restarted, and verified that the Maps driving notifications are on.

Am I missing something? Help very much appreciated because I'm about to lose my mind

    GPS always on?

    Posted: 30 May 2019 07:25 PM PDT

Just upgraded from an S1 to an S4. Every time I swipe up to see the control center, it seems like the location arrow is always purple/on. Is this normal?

They really need to unleash full Siri on the Watch, it’s starting to get ridiculous. Here I asked Siri to simply play music on an Airplay 2 speaker, but no, gotta do it from iPhone. /rant

Watch taking itself out of silent mode?

    Posted: 31 May 2019 12:09 AM PDT

I've had my watch (s4 wifi) since Christmas this year, always keep it it silent mode. The last two nights it has suddenly made a beep for a notification (last night from a text and today from completing my rings) and I go look in settings and it is somehow not in silent mode anymore? I put it back in silent mode last night but again it popped out of silent mode today when I closed my rings. It was silent for everything else all day. Anyone know why this could be happening?

    Thanks in advance.

I left my phone at home today and my watch suddenly has no contact information. Is there anything I can do?

    Posted: 30 May 2019 10:56 AM PDT

Series 4 LTE. My messages are just showing phone numbers currently and I have no idea who's who in group messages or even regular texts. Is there anything I can do without my phone nearby to fix this?

Update: Just in case anyone else finds themselves in this situation - nothing seems to be working to fix it. I was hoping that it would slowly resolve itself over time, but alas. I did a hard restart, I had my roommate unlock my phone to see if that would push something remotely to the watch. Nada. Make sure you at least unlock your watch before leaving the house just in case!
