I guess it happened with "i" to some people in iOS 11, but i cant even find record of anyone else having this issue. Ive updated my phone several times, adjusted text replacement so Tha\T' should read as that, ive even added "that" as a contact. nothing has work and im gonna fucking lose it. | Dead iMac display after SSD upgrade Posted: 10 May 2019 10:04 PM PDT TLDR at bottom Hello! I recently have tried replacing the hard drive with an SSD in the iMac. Unfortunately during the reinstallation of the screen I screwed up inserting the display cable that connects the display into the motherboard bending the pins. I ordered a new cable and upon installation the screen was still black. I thought maybe the cable arrived DOA, so I ordered another. Upon the installation of the second cable the screen still has no sign of life. I have triple checked all connections and have tried several times making sure all connections are secure. The machine boots, chimes and the fans spin but no sign of life on the display. I have purchased a mini display port to hdmi to check if an external display would show an image and it does. Upon checking the diagnostic lights three out of the four turn on which means the mother and the display are not communicating. I'm just wondering if anyone could help me with any other solutions, could a different cable such as the "v-sync" or the other small connections near the top of the display cause an error like this? I'm pretty lost and am unsure why it doesn't work. My best guess is I've damaged something else in the process. I've shined a flashlight into the display and there is no image there either (possible backlight issue). The SSD is blank and I have reinstalled the original hard drive thinking maybe there is some kind of driver that might be missing?? But even the original doesn't bring the display to life. I'm pretty much have given up and am disappointed with having an all in one with a dead display lol, would appreciate any insight and thanks in advance! TLDR: replaced HDD, messed up with the cables, no screen, and even with new cables it doesn't work. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 10 May 2019 07:45 PM PDT Hi, I have an Apple Pencil (1st gen). Out of clumsiness, I put it in my backpack with my other things, and ended up stuffing my backpack, pushing everything in. When I took everything out, I saw that the pencil nub fell off, and the exposed yellow rod of the pencil was bent 30 degrees. I unbent it, but the pencil didn't work. I could plug it in to charge, but tapping on my screen did nothing at all. I tried restarting my iPad to no avail. I'm guessing the pencil is toast, but is there any chance of recovery here? | What exactly is performance management Posted: 10 May 2019 06:06 PM PDT I have had an iPhone SE for about a year now. Today it randomly shut down. It was at like 12% charge on low power mode. when I booted it back up I had a settings notification that it had been put on performance management. I read that this may be due to low temperature, and it's 8 degrees Celcius where I am and my hands were quite cold when I was typing on it. My question is: should I disable this performance management? Also, will it affect my using of the device? Will I get lower battery usage per charge, will anything be affected, should I get a new battery? [link] [comments]  |

| Need help identifying files missing from data transfer! Posted: 10 May 2019 04:27 PM PDT Hi! My late-2011 Macbook Pro was experiencing problems recently, so I took it to the shop. They told me my HDD was failing and recommended that I replace it with an SSD. I asked that they retain the OS (I use 10.9.5 because I regularly use apps that are no longer compatible with current OSs), and they told me they'd have to migrate the data manually. When I asked if this would impede the data transfer process in any way, they told me that I'd likely have to reinstall my apps. I got the computer back today and it seems fine--I'm just noticing that a lot of files are missing. For example, I use Ableton to make music, and I noticed that while certain projects would show up in the "Recently used" tab, they'd be greyed out and wouldn't show up in Finder when I looked for them. I can restore many of these files by manually transferring them from a month-old backup I have on another drive, but I'm wondering if there's a way I can identify all of the files are missing? | How to convert .mov files to PNG? Posted: 10 May 2019 02:22 PM PDT I normally have live photos disabled but apparently it was accidentally enabled and I now have several hundred .mov files that I need converted to photos. I can't find anyway to do this besides taking screen shots of the files and it's simply way to many to do manually. Is there any tools that will mass convert the first frame of the files into a PNG? | Pencil 2 not working (doubletap only) Posted: 10 May 2019 02:07 PM PDT Hi, today I bough a new iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil 2 to go with it. I went through the initial setup, connected the pencil and it seemed fine - it charges as expected and on the screen it shows when you first connect it, the doubletap worked as well - I couldn't write there but I thought that I wasn't supposed to. I then went on with setting everything up, bought the Goodnotes 5 app and when I finally wanted to play around with the pencil, I noticed it doesn't write nor can I use it in the menus. I tried unscrewing and screwing back on the tip, unpairing and pairing it again, rebooting and also resetting the iPad but to no avail. Throughout all this, the doubletap kept on working, but nothing else. Is there anything else I can do or do I have to claim the warranty on it and get it replaced? It shouldn't be a problem, it's just gonna take some time and I'm pretty bummed out about it. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments]  |
| Inherited iOS devices removing iCloud attachment Posted: 10 May 2019 02:00 PM PDT Hello I'm trying to help a friend out, they inherited an iPhone and iPad from their mother, but cannot detach her Mother's iCloud account, I understand Apple will do this if they have a death certificate and a transfer of goods certificate but in this case the inheritance was just leaving everything to her it didn't mention specifics, on the phone to Apple Support they said this wasn't enough, that it requires the specific mention of the iOS devices, I find this hard to believe as there must be so many cases of this. Details: This in the UK, her nearest Apple Store is hours away and expensive to get to so it is important to verify that they will do it before visiting. The documents on hand are her Mother's death certificate and the papers showing that the Mother left everything to her daughter specified by name. If Apple Support on the phone are saying Apple won't do it with that documentation is there a law that would force the issue or would a physical store give a different response? | macbook pro not charging, unable to reset smc. Posted: 10 May 2019 01:51 PM PDT Mid 2012 MBP, Battery stopped charging, desperately trying to get the SMC to reset to see if that will fix it. Using the buttons to reset the SMC while it is off does not work for me, the macbookpro just boots up and the lights on my magsafe do not change color/turnoff/etc I am attempting to do it manually through the EFI shell. I am able to boot into it and load it up from the right directory and when I do this command: SmcFlasher.efi -reset 1 the shell replies back: Error: invalid option 2 '1' Can anyone help with this? | Posted: 10 May 2019 01:34 PM PDT I recently upgraded my 2012 MacBook Pro HDD to an SSD using CCC. My MacBook worked fine and I was upgraded to Mojave 10.14.2. However, I could not upgrade to Mojave 10.14.4 because my "volume was not supported" and my SSD was in macOS extended journaled not APFS. Now I spent 2 days trying to fix this, some things I learned that may help other people in the future: -Make a time machine backup -Time machine backup disks use MacOS extended journaled and can back up an APFS or MacOS extended journaled SSD/HDD BUT you can't make your time machine back up drive APFS format -Going into recovery mode, erasing my SSD and reformatting as APFS worked. BUT I went back to recovery mode and hit "restore from time machine backup" as apple customer support told me to. This did NOT work, it converted my SSD back to macOS extended journaled. What did work was going into recovery mode, disk utility, select my ssd, hit erase and reformat as APFS, then go back to the main recovery mode menu and select "re-install MacOS". This starts set up towards a new computer and eventually you get to a screen that asks if you want to transfer files from a time machine back up, another Mac, or fully set it up as a new Mac. Options here:
Now, I was assuming that if I chose time machine back up here it would do the same thing and convert my new APFS SSD back to macOS extended journaled..but alas, it WORKED. So, since I spent 2 days and couldn't find any good information I made this to help others. [link] [comments]  |

I forgot to delete the app on my iPad because I dont really use my iPad for much other than YouTube and Twitch, so it was just there for a week or so. After the week, I went to update my apps, and the new app started downloading an update, but during that process I also deleted the app, but since the update was never technically complete, I now have a ping on the App Store that I can't remove Any help would be great, I can provide a pic as well if needed :) [link] [comments]  |

| CD audio content on iPad but not mac kindle app Posted: 10 May 2019 12:30 PM PDT I have an iPad air. I bought a music learning book from amazon that has CD audio content. The iPad kindle app will play the CD audio content. I just bought a new mac 27" recently and installed the kindle app to see if I could access the music book and the audio content but the CD content doesn't appear on the mac kindle app. I don't see any options to make it available on the mac or if it even is available on the mac although I can access the CD music on the iPad. | Safari keeps asking for Touch ID although I'm not trying to log in Posted: 10 May 2019 11:51 AM PDT Hey there, I've noticed a weird trend over the last few weeks. First of all, I have a MacBook Pro with Touch ID and when I'm in Safari and I want to login somewhere the Touchbar shows this "Touch ID to Log In ->" prompt as I want it to. https://i.redd.it/bolurti5kfx21.png Sometimes, though, this prompt to authenticate a log in with my fingerprint appears on the Touchbar at seemingly random times when I'm not trying to login somewhere and it's worrying me. Is this just a macOS bug or could it be some malicious code or program that's made its way onto my computer? And help would be greatly appreciated. FYI: I checked Activity Monitor and didn't find anything unusual, I don't download weird stuff online or open random e-mails so I find it highly unlikely that I'm infected with something but I'm happy to be proven wrong if it means I'm safer.
