Posted: 29 Apr 2019 01:02 PM PDT the vast majority of stuff in my "Watch Now" are crappy TV shows that were so bad I watched a few minutes then turned off to see something else. I guess it's focusing on the fact that I hit "play" on something, rather than intelligently checking if I've viewed a whole episode of a show. Isn't the fact that I left the episode in the middle enough of a hint that I didn't want to watch it? There's not an option anywhere to automatically ignore partially played items, or a TV show that I haven't watched a full episode of, is there? [link] [comments]

Is there someone that can actually Control the volume from their Apple TV? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 09:20 AM PDT My Apple TV is connected to my LG B7 and I can't control the volume with my iPhone.. Does it only work with soundbars? This is how it looks: image Edit: posted a screenshot [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2019 09:25 PM PDT Is there anyone on the tvOS beta subscribed to Apple TV channels who can comment on the bit rate/estimated bit rate of the content played? I saw you can now subscribe to HBO through the Apple TV app and wanted to see if the quality might be any better than subscribing to HBO through Amazon. Thanks! [link] [comments]

Am I crazy/blind or is the difference between Apple TV 4K movies vs 4K discs extremely negligible? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 09:05 AM PDT I've invested heavily into the digital eco-system since the ATV 4K was released. I tend to be picky about my image and audio quality and after seeing so many people say how much better discs are vs digital, and my friends saying "_____ looks great in 4K HDR, you should see it on disc instead of digital", and other similar comments, I decided to go buy a 4K Blu-ray player and I rented Infinity War to test it out. I have a decent TV, TCL 6 series paired with a decent 3.1 home theater setup. While I do need the volume louder on the ATV to get the same level of audio, I don't notice enough of a difference in quality in neither audio nor video to warrant dropping a couple hundred on a dedicated player, along with nearly double the prices for physical media. Sure it would be nice to have copies to lend a friend or in case the internet goes out, but at what cost? (insert Thanos meme). In the distant future I plan on buying an OLED and Atmos setup and I fear the ATV may show some more weaknesses with that. Im going to rent a different movie tonight to try again but I've spent many hours annoying my wife on the couch by playing 20 seconds of the movie on the Blu-ray player, then switching to the ATV and rewatching the same 20 seconds, and pausing and scrutinizing certain scenes and just cant find anything to warrant physical over digital. Am I just not seeing/hearing it or is it not that much of a difference? [link] [comments]
Is there a way to watch FX besides their own app? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 06:33 PM PDT I'm trying to binge-watch season 3 of Better Things, but to access FX+ I need to sign in with my cable provider, which I don't have. What can I do in this case? I thought about Hulu Live TV but I'm guessing it doesn't include older episodes. [link] [comments]
Two Apple TV 4K in 2 different homes Posted: 29 Apr 2019 06:26 PM PDT Is there a way to have an Apple TV in a different home as a home hub?? I can't figure it out [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2019 05:34 PM PDT The AppleTV Remote is going crazy and it's nasty from the kids. How should I clean this thing? TV remotes I can take apart and clean but I don't think that's possible with the Apple remote. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]
Is linking apps with tv provider useful? Posted: 29 Apr 2019 05:19 PM PDT I've had an Apple TV for about 3 years now and only recently discovered the linking apps to the TV app. Is it useful? I've read that it basically let's you search all the compatible apps. The thing is I us PS vue as my provide so I think it searches that, not at home to verify. I just want to make sure because there's at least 20 apps from different networks that it says I can download and automatically sign into, but I don't want to do all that if it adds no functionality. Posted: 29 Apr 2019 12:28 PM PDT Been watching Our Earth and the Atmos centre speaker keeps going mental. One minute it is central the next it comes out the rear right or left. Tried factory reset but still get the same issue. Any ideas what is the problem? [link] [comments]
Recommendations for a Dumb 4K TV with HDMI-CEC support Posted: 29 Apr 2019 08:30 AM PDT Hello /r/Appltv, I have an AppleTv 4k, and its time to upgrade the actual TV to take advantage of that 4K. I'd like to find a 4K TV with support for HDMI-CEC, but I'm not really interested in anther 'smart' layer that will ultimately never get used. I know that HDMI-CEC goes by different names depending on the manufacturer. Was wondering if anyone here has recommendations for a TV like this, or if it even exists. I love to control the power, volume, and anything else I can from the remote app, instead of over IR. [link] [comments] |
